Pros:

Course is in designated slightly wooded section of school (behind school) for disc golf only. Playground nearby (in view) is for non-playing family members to have fun too. EZ to follow layout. Less than 30 minutes to play 9 holes. Fun, beginner friendly course for school kids & newer players to learn to play! "Pros" can play with a putter/mid-range disc & be very challenged to shoot -9. Real pros can work on their upshots & putts on the Pro-28 Innova targets in a pleasantly quiet environment.

Cons:

Tees are natural (but in good shape). Only available during non-school hours.Difficult to find due to being hidden behind school building. (Drive past basketball court on left side of school building). No restrooms.

Other Thoughts:

If you are passing thru SC on I-20 near Lexington, course is less than 10 minutes off the hwy 6 exit 55. Stop for good food options at exit & visit course for a fun break.

Pros:

Red Bank Elementary is a fun, pitch-n-putt course. It's a great way to introduce the kids to the game.
- Solid for a short course. Nothing longer than 200 feet - #5 is 200 feet. Average hole length is just a hair under 150 feet.
- Course plays in and out of several lines of pine trees. Those trees come into play on all but three holes, with #3, 5, and 8 being the open layouts. The other holes range from having several trees in play - #1, 4, 6, 7, and 9 to a scaled-down gauntlet hole, #2 at 69 feet.
- Holes #1 & 2 are a combined 199 feet long. I don't know if I've ever played a more enjoyable back-to-back duo as fun and short as these two. #1 is a slight downhill 130-foot ace run. I threw putter, hit the top of the cage with my shot, had it kick up in the air, and......roll 30 feet away. So, instead of ace, I two-putted for par.
- #9 is an excellent short closing hole. It's uphill, 187-feet, and has trees and branches limiting a direct line to the basket. Easily the most difficult hole on the course.
- Being an elementary school course, this is a perfect skill level for that age. Better than most elementary school courses I've played. I'd love for this course to be in my neighborhood, taking advantage of the different layouts as some great practice targets.
- Course is easy to navigate. It's in a compact area without holes interfering with others. The hardest part was finding the course itself. This school has a lot of extra space behind the buildings.

Cons:

For better players, the negatives are this course is short, easy, and basic. Or, it's not meant for you.
- You could easily play this course with one disc and shoot under par. You'll most likely want to throw multiple discs to rack up some cubbie aces.
- No trash cans on the course itself. There are dumpsters along the left side of the building. I mention this simply as more of a concern that it would only take several inconsiderate people who don't dispose of their trash to ruin it for the rest of us.
- A little more variety could have been had. There is room to lengthen a hole or two or create a more challenging layout.
- There's no way to know there's a course here simply by driving by the school. Maybe a little more awareness would help drum up interest from locals, not just the school kids.

Other Thoughts:

Red Bank hits the mark for being kid-friendly while also being enjoyable. If every hole were doubled in length, you would have an absolute blast of a course.
- We always here about 'growing the sport,' whatever that means. I think an example the sport is getting more attention and respect is that even kid courses are becoming enjoyable. It used to be that beginner-friendly simply meant creating 150-foot holes with little thought given to challenge or creativity. Now, even school courses are well designed.
- I could have easily played through two or three times. As it was, I was bagging this course in a cold rain, so one time was all I could tolerate. That said, one could play through three times in less than an hour. One should also hope to see an ace, or at minimum, multiple near-misses playing 18 or 27 holes here.
- Elevation is only a factor on #1 & 9, and somewhat on #2 with a roll away factor. The other holes are all level.
- Good to see Columbia's disc golf footprint expanding outward. Lexington and southside of Lake Murray needs something. Northside is spoiled with Stoney Hill and Crooked Creek.
- Course is getting a 1.0 rating simply due to its ease and simplicity. If this were elementary school DGCR, this would be one of the higher rated courses. Alas, it's one of the easier courses in metro Columbia.
