Pros:

Riley Park is a nice little multiuse park. Playgrounds, pavillions etc. The disc golf course is a little disjointed, this helps it steer clear of other park activities. Nine holes with enough things going on to keep it interesting. A creek winds through the park and can come into play on quite a few holes. It's not very deep looking so if you end up in it, there's a good chance you can get your disc back with a little effort.

The baskets are your standard DISCatchers with the yellow bands. Nice baskets and they're all mounted pretty well. There's 2 pin positions on most, if not all holes it appears.

Concrete tee pads that are all level and grip nicely. One tee per hole. These are not the largest but are really all you need for a course like this. It says there's multiple tees but I saw nothing to designate any shorter pads.

There's a big course map right by hole 1. Unfortunately, a big chunk of the map is missing. The tee signs are pretty solid. They have the hole #, par, basic hole map and distances to each pin placement. There's also next tee signs by every juncture where you may be confused where to go. These are especially helpful getting from 5 to 6 and, to a lesser extent, 7 to 8.

The design here is really solid for the space they had available. They use the creek to place a few baskets by, making you play for placement instead of just ace running it. They also use the sloping hills to add challenge. Hole 2 is probably highlight. It's only 290' or so but all uphill with the basket perched on the very top with a death putt from anywhere below.

The course is free to play and actually a pretty fun little course. Great place for beginners and less experienced players. The park was very clean and the course starts and ends near the parking area.

Cons:

The park was surprisingly busy on an early October afternoon. You do have to be aware of other park user's. A few holes play near other activities.A little common sense and this is a non issue though.

While it wasn't a noticeable issue while we visited, there were a lot of ducks by the pond. And there were signs saying not to feed the ducks or geese. I didn't see any geese. But if geese are here, that means goose poop.

Other Thoughts:

This was a close to the expressway course on my way from Dayton to Chicago, so I decided to give it a quick spin. I was pleasantly surprised. It's just a pretty solid park style niner. If you're in the area or passing by and only have time for a quick round, you could do a lot worse than this place. Good design, fun little course.

Fun factor is pretty high 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 22, 2019 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Very unexpectedly nice use of elevations can be found at Riley park, where you'll also encounter excellent signage (TONS of next tee instructions were a great help), adequate, level, concrete tees, and attractive DisCatcher baskets. The course isn't going to be a huge challenge for Intermediate arms and above (except hole two, which plays up the huge, terraced sledding hill to a rollaway green up top in the breezes), but the fun factor is there for the rest of us.
Shots range from 158' to 301' and are all approachable, though a few of the 'B' pin positions are going to have you thinking twice about that 'gamer' disc you're considering running toward the creek. There are two sleeves for each hole, and the course map/ instruction/ contact info board notes whether they're currently in A or B. There are enough trees and slopes in the park for the clever designer to take advantage of, to keep the interest level up.

Cons:

The park is active and varied, which meant that the design had a lot of obstacles to work around. There is a pretty long (but well-marked) hike between 5 & 6, with that fairway and the 7th running parallel, and in the same direction. Play the tee to the left of the path, on the creek side first. Hopefully, folks will keep updating course conditions here for when we have the kind of rainy season we've had (the grasses are tall on 6 and holes 8 & 9 stay muddy and overpopulated with water fowl).
I noted that hole 3 pays just slightly blind back down the big sledding hill, with the possibility that a rhbh fade could glide down toward unsuspecting 'civilians' if you don't know they're there. Finally, the address given here on dgcr currently takes you to the upper side of the park where there's a few places to park by the third tee.

Other Thoughts:

Overall, I was really pleasantly surprised at how much fun I had playing this little course. I actually boosted my rating a notch because I found it to be really enjoyable!
Background: this is my 299th review, I play at a beginning intermediate level with friends of all ages, and try to write an occasional helpful note for others who enjoy trying out a new course now and then.

Decent little course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 19, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

Cement teepads , ones you won't need a good run up on , except maybe #2 . 9 hole course that flows pretty easy , and the good signage will tell you where to go after each hole . Solid baskets . Course designer did what he could do with a small park as this one . Signature hole would be #2 . Only around 300 feet , but straight up a man made sled hill . You are likely throwing a second shot bracing yourself for a short but uphill shot again .

Cons:

Course plays pretty short . Again not a slam , but the course designer worked with what he had which I think he did a pretty good job with . A few of the holes made you have to shape a shot ( hyzer on #4 ) or 2 , but holes 1 , 8 & 9 were more or less filler holes . Some baskets played dangerously close to picnickers and curious children , so exercise caution when you throw off the tee.

Other Thoughts:

If you live in the area , play this course . Not a destination 9 holer , but good enough to group with a day of playing at some of the other area courses like I did .

DG on the Main Street of America 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 22, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

Shot variety, need Forehand and Backhand.

Hilly terrain involved, big uphill shot on #2.

Water coming into play with a nice little creek flowing through.

Some risk involved with some drop offs/roll-aways on a number of greens.

Dual Pin positions.

Great signage, plus directional signs to the next Holes.

Cons:

To me, just natural Tee pads would be preferable to the lumpy rubber mats, it's noted that cement may come in the future.

#8 plays directly next to a large shelter, and has a playground as well, which could be a problem in summertime with families. Grip lock would send a disc straight into the children's play area.

#9 shoots over two picnic tables, if busy, that hole is unplayable, potentially two holes that would have to be skipped.

Geese enjoy hanging around #6, count on goose poop as you approach the basket near water's edge.

Other Thoughts:

Riley Park is not your typical small-town city park Course.

With the elevation changes, and well-thought out holes, it's fun to play. Beginning players will have a challenge on their hands, but cutting their teeth here will give them a leg up as they explore more difficult Courses.

Riley Park roller coaster! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Oct 12, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

Nice park with easy access, decent parking, restrooms. Lots of elevation changes, a mix of open and semi-technical holes, nice mature trees and a creek in play to make things fun! New Innova 28's catch great! Dual tees for all holes except #8, Rubber tee-pads for now, maybe concrete before too long. A/B pin locations for each hole. Some really fun greens with lots of drop away putts if you miss. Great course for Rec to Intermediates to learn the game. Advanced players will have a blast throwing ace/birdie runs on fun, hilly terrain.

Cons:

Shorter course will not really challenge Pro level players (but they would have fun). Park can be busy and parking is adequate, but not expansive.

Other Thoughts:

Great first public disc golf course for this community. A nice park with plenty of exposure for disc golf, right on US 40. The National Road. Plenty of options for gas, food & drinks nearby. Nice warm up, or after round, if you are playing either nearby course, The Boonies in Knightstown, or the private course at Mohawk in rural Greenfield.
