Mostly Tightly Wooded 2+ years

Pros:
-A 9-hole course mostly in the heavy woods behind Riverbend High School, with few finishing holes in the open behind the baseball field. In the woods sloping fairways, and a few holes bordering a creek, also heavy canopy. Fairway lines are very narrow gaps.
-The course is 9 tees and 8 baskets. Tees are marked by short green markers both sides of tee box. Baskets catch well.
-Navigation is counter-clockwise along a cross-country track the first 7 holes. Holes 8 and 9 share the same basket in the open. UDisc will help with navigation in the woods, and hole information.
-From the bag on the tee putters, mid's, and fairways.
-Beginners and Recreational could struggle staying on the narrow fairways but will get a good lesson on narrow lines. Intermediate and Advanced time to rope it.
-The course is tended by the Riverbend H.S. Disc Golf Club their mission is to play and provide maintenance. It looks like recently they abandoned the original 3rd hole fairway that had a missing basket and brought hole 8 and 9 together sharing the same basket.
-The course can be used as a warmup for Cannon Ridge or Loriella Park just a short distance away. It will make those two courses' fairways look like a runway.

-I played in December and holes 1 thru 7 as a group are about the narrowest, I've played no more than 10 feet across, and most places less. From the photos I've seen of warmer months with foliage it looks impossible.
-The tee markers are all you get, but there only about a foot tall and painted green in a green environment. I missed the first hole marker and stumbled upon the second afterwards finding all of them the rest of the way.
-With the original 3rd fairway abandoned the marker is still there. Don't make the mistake of playing from there, continue walking until the new 3rd tee. Or play it as a 400 plus hole.
-The first 7 holes run along a cross country course, so unlike other schools when the course is open on the weekend, it's possible to find an event in the fall months being turned away from playing. The school keeps a sports calendar online.
-Holes 8 and 9 sharing the same open basket, after you play 8 you walk toward the 9 tee, and turnaround playing back toward the basket. You can at least keep your bag at the tee while you finish out 9. It's about a 4-5-minute walk back to parking from there.
-The environment on the first 7 holes during the warmer months is thick overgrowth likely a bug festival, and possibly snakes along the creek.
-Lost disc potential the first 7 holes with foliage is going to be high with some blind throws off the tee. In the winter some leaves piled up, for the most part I stuck with putters to eliminate looking for discs.

Other Thoughts:
Riverbend H.S. DGC if I lived in the area would be a great winter course to practice hitting those tight lines, and that should eliminate conflicting with any cross-country events. The goal would be to play a round not hitting a tree, and if that can be done, anywhere else played is going to seem wide open. I can't see myself playing here in the summer, I think it could be a miserable round with bugs, and disappearing disc in the heavy foliage, and that would be my biggest con. I really like the Disc Golf Club at the high school a great way to grow the sport, and hopefully more involved in course maintenance.
My overall rating is anchored on the difficulty of tight lines and gaps making some challenging holes, a few scenic holes, and the Disc Golf Club teaching the youth our game is anchored on a 2.0. The time to play taking pictures was 25 minutes.
Signature Hole:
No. 3 Par 3 at 248 feet with foliage I would imagine a very scenic hole, that comes along with a fairway no more than 10 feet all the way to the basket, and possibly closes even more with foliage. From a level tee the fairway drops about 100 feet out with a lazy dogleg left sliding right to left all the way to the basket. Before the drop about 70 feet out are a few trees bulging into the fairway on the right, so you need an early sweep to the left with your disc and lineup with the lazy dogleg left, and there is heavy canopy about 9 feet high. From the drop looking toward the basket tucked to the left off fairway with guardian trees, and a creek running within C2, with the bridge crossing the creek in the background, a very scenic look. I decided to skip an Underworld that worked out ok.
Trouble Hole:
No. 5 Par 3 at 168 feet straight away from tee to basket level on a fairway no more than 8 feet wide. Theirs a creek running all the way down the left side with tree protection, on the right heavy trees and brush. Just 20 feet to the right bulging into the fairway is a lone tree, halfway down on the left a group of trees bulging as well and both set of trees narrows the gap to about 6 feet on the line, a very scenic look. When I played the creek had water that I would rather not fish a disc out, and as a lefty a Harp with fade sounded good. Didn't hit the fade soon enough and hit the trees halfway down safely on the fairway, and thought Thank You!

Other Thoughts:
We saw this course pop up on the tracker and thought we would give it a shot. It took us a while to find the first tee (it's up the hill at the back right corner of the bus loop btw) but once we got on it everything was good. The course follows a hiking path around the high school, so the holes are only as wide as the path. Nearly all of them have a ceiling as well so it leaves a very small tunnel to throw your shots. We spent a little extra time walking ahead to see where the baskets were on each hole. Nearly all of the holes had some elevation as well.
I'd recommend this course for anyone looking to get some quick throws in. You don't really get a chance to air one out until the last hole (which is wide open). It's not very forgiving because of the thickness of the brush, but it's pretty easy if you can control your tee shots. We had a good time out there!
