Other Thoughts:
Russian Jack is one of the few courses in the Anchorage area that you'll need 2 distance drives for the same hole. The course is a really long 9 hole. I especially liked throwing drives over long distances downhill that I knew beforehand would be easy to find. The downside to that is these wide open fairways have little to define the path to the baskets. Beginners learning how to throw will appreciate how forgiving the fairways are for sure. This Golf/Disc Golf course unfortunately is pay to play, but a local told me anything after 8 pm is fo free. There is plenty of summer daylight after 8 pm to play for many hours.
Another downside is having to share the course with golfers, this can be unnerving. I have a hard time relaxing when I'm worried about getting blasted by golf balls at any moment. The course has an astro turf teepad the golfers use that doubles as a teepad for stand and deliver tee offs, however, the pad is too short and unevenly layered to use for run up and /or x-steps. As far as pay to play, I expect there to be teepads and tee signs if I'm paying these types of courses.
