At least it has tees

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 25, 2023 Played the course:once

Pros:

+Nice white baskets that are all in good shape and catch well.
+Nice big concrete pads. All in good shape and plenty grippy.
+Park appears to get frequent enough mowing and maintenance.
+Good for beginners and kids. Short in length and no real chance to lose a disc here.
+Navigation is pretty straightforward.
+Park has a playground, ball fields. The bathroom that knobby noted is still in some phase of construction but far from complete. Maybe ran out of funds.
+Ace runs available on all holes if you can throw about 270'. If you played daily, you would rack them up pretty quickly.

Cons:

-No signage. Safe to say that it's not coming at this point.
-Course plays pretty close to the baseball field. May have to skip a hole or two if there is a game going on.
-Short. Nothing close to 300 and most closer to 200'.
-Flat. No real elevation to speak of.
-Very few obstacles. Mostly open fields around baseball fields and periphery of the park.

Other Thoughts:

+They did a reasonably good job with what they had to work with. Unfortunately, the land they were allotted just isn't great for disc golf. Many small towns face the same issue.
+There is no glaring issues with this course. It simply is just really hard to put a nice course in with a lower budget and flat, open land. The park is still better off with the course here than not.
+Worth a stop if you are a course bagger. Otherwise it's pretty average. If you come with tempered expectations, it's an ok play. Good for working on mid range shots and approaches.

Small Town Park Course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 15, 2022 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Nice Patriot Baskets w/White Bands
-Good sized concrete tee pads
-Quick play

Cons:

-No signage (yet?, just went in recently)
-No elevation, not much to work around
-#3 tees right next to a Bball court
-#7 basket in the middle of center field for the baseball field

Other Thoughts:

Scranton City parks hosts a new (in 2022) DGC on the eastern edge of Scranton, IA. A large part of the park comes into play, but this is a flat, open, small town park. It does play away from the playground, but the basketball court is in play on #3 and the #7 basket is right in center field for baseball (don't know how much ball is played here, but the infield didn't seem too overgrown.) The equipment is nice with large concrete tee pads and nice patriot baskets, easy to see white bands on the green field. Nothing over ~270' here, so a bit of a pitch 'n putt, but works well in this environment. Could use as a warm up to either Daubendiek or Swan Lake. I'm hoping tee signage is yet to come and that would add to the course. There is a restroom, near the #1 tee and the playground, but it looks to need rebuilt after a fire? I enjoyed playing a couple of rounds here and would play again, if in the area.
