Short but challenging 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 29, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

Tees: All tees are astro turfed. They are not very big and are designed for ball golf, however there is a large concrete area with each one if you want to do a run up

Clubhouse/Facilities: This course is set around an activity complex which offers Archery, Golf, Foot Golf, Volleyball and Paintball. Because of this the grounds are well maintained and litter free.

Water Hazards: For such a small course the amount of water here is surprising. The course doesn't shy away from it, with over 70% of the holes having water hazards on them. Errant drives beware!

Cons:

Baskets: A couple of the baskets are certainly past their best and could do with a revamp. They were surprisingly catchy despite the lack of chains

Pay to Pay: I felt £6 for 9 holes was a bit steep, however once you look at the way the course is kept and the fact the course is constantly manned, you begin to understand why there is a cost.

Other Thoughts:

I played all holes with Golf Greens and Bunkers as OB.
This can make for some very tight landing zones, however it was a nice challenge.
The course isn't set up so that the Golf greens have to be played OB, this was just my choice.

Hole 1 - A short hole to start. OB down the left with the gravel carpark, lots of bunkers to avoid down the right.

Hole 2 - A another straight hole. The basket is behind the green and back bunker. Your second shot could be very difficult to judge the landing area, especially with the tall trees behind

Hole 3 - A blind tee shot over water, the basket is tucked behind the bushes on the right. Lots of odd undulation on this hole, so be careful that your disc doesn't catch an edge and end up in a watery grave

Hole 4 - A deceptive hole. The basket is not far away, but don't push your tee shot left as there are 2 bunkers and a large lake.

Hole 5 - A really tough dogleg hole. From the tee you cannot see the basket. The large overhanging tree off the tee could impede your shot. Then you have the large lake which sticks out from the left. Once round this the basket is tucked up on the far bank of the lake defended by a bunker

Hole 6 - After 2 tough holes this is a nice easy hole. A straight tee shot, should give you an angle at the basket

Hole 7 - Another relatively easy hole. Bear bunker (which is why the hole is called "the bear") has been filled in making this a straight hole with little to trouble you.

Hole 8 - A straight hole, but control needed. A large lake sits to the right of the basket and the trees down the left are all OB

Hole 9 - The courses signature hole. From an elevated tee, you must aim for a moated green!
When playing as I did with greens OB, this gives you a strip 8ft wide to aim for. Not easy!
