Disc Golf During Gym Class? Yes, Please!

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 29, 2023 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

.

Eight hole loop on high school grounds. Even though it's a short course on school property, it gives players the feel of playing a "real" course. Very good signage, aging but still catching DD Veteran baskets with directional arrows welded to the bottom, gravel tees with defined borders at the front. Excellent course map near the first tee that gives appropriate credit to the three designers.

For a short and mostly open course, Southern Regional HS packs in a decent amount of challenge and a good amount of fun. The first three holes use a patch of woods, there's a double mando hole, a hole throwing over or around a bathroom building, and a fair amount of OB called out on the tee signs.

.

Cons:

.

- Gravel tees have become rutted and dug in over the years. The course was established in 2016, and tees could really use a refresh.

- Sandy areas (volleyball courts and an exercise area) play a big role in creating OB on several holes, but the sand has "crept" and spread over the years. For example, the sandy workout area on hole 8 is described on the teesign as being "to the right" of the basket, but now it's pretty much in front of the basket. It doesn't really play as originally designed because the sand has spread so much.

.

Other Thoughts:

.

~ It isn't trying to be more than it is. It's an eight hole loop that's a beginner course geared toward students, and short enough to be used during gym classes.

SRHS Course Completed! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Nov 28, 2020 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Great little course for beginners or to practice.
Very easy to navigate.
DD Veteran Baskets

Cons:

Cannot play during school hours.

Other Thoughts:

Very long overdue, but happy to say that this little 8 hole course is finally complete. Wasn't sure if it was ever going to happen, but relieved that it is finally done!
It was put up for a physical education activity, but is open for public use during non-school hours.
A kiosk is finally in place, as well as, tee signs and tee pads.
Very simple loop that's easy to navigate and is great for practicing or if you have limited time.

A course is a course of course of course? 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 30, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

Nice baskets, I guess....though I'm not a big fan of Dynamic Discs' baskets.

Cons:

Everything, and I mean everything else is absolute garbage.

Other Thoughts:

I'm writing this review out of spite. Not a very mature thing to do, but this course is the worst. It should not be classified as a disc golf course. I think misrepresenting it as such is an absolute joke.

No tee pads, no signage, and absolutely no inkling of the order in which the course should be played. The baskets are randomly dispersed in a small open field - in an already crammed sports complex. The sports complex was packed with people, one errant throw and someone was getting cracked in the head. We left after 2 holes, when some dude decided to drive his vehicle on the field, and ran over my disc.

Needless to say this "course" is a total waste of time. How does DGCR go about evaluating whether a course should be listed on this site? Might want to re-evaluate that procedure, because Southern Regional High School DGC is not a disc golf course.

Great 24hr practice ! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 22, 2017 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Small 8 hole course on high school property. Installed for both students/school club as well as being a nicely diverse, all hours practice spot outside of school operating times. There is also lighting from sun down to sun rise.

Cons:

All holes are short, but not boring.
Can be repetitive, however it's great for what its purpose was.

Other Thoughts:

Super fun place to go for doubles or practice, even through the wee hours of the night.
