bring long pants and a week whacker

Pros:

You'll probably have the course to yourselves.

Cons:

Only found 6 baskets and skipped one of those due to overgrowth. No idea where to enter the woods for the other 3 baskets and overgrowth so bad we didn't try.

Other Thoughts:

A bit frustrating. Don't mind making our own course but that's hard when you can't find the baskets.

Cubic Zirconium in the Rough?

Reviewed: Played on:May 20, 2023 Played the course:once

Pros:

I need to preface this review by saying that the designer and person/people who put the baskets in the field here have done more to "grow the sport" than I have. That being said, I gotta be honest here, so I'll start with the few pros...

The Mach VII baskets on the holes that actually have them are new and in good shape.

There's some very mild elevation and a couple trees to make things potentially interesting. Hole 6 would actually be noteworthy - I think it's supposed to be about a 250 foot shot through the woods and then dog left around 100 feet up to the left. But the "fairway" was thigh-deep weeds and I never actually found the basket.

Hole 1 is actually a decent hole once you figure out where to start and where you're aiming. It's tucked behind a small mound with a big Evergreen about 150 feet in front and another smaller tree right outside C1. Hole 2 is a pretty simple 200 foot chip shot and from there things get weird.

Cons:

What we have here is a failure to communicate any semblance of navigational information. It's literally just 5 baskets in a field plus one or two obscured by some weeds in the woods. If you don't have Udisc for the course map then don't even bother. Even with Udisc I got turned around. No tee signs, no tee pads, no numbers on baskets, literally nothing to tell you where to start or where to go.

Speaking of the woods, I think they cleared a couple paths for the course a year or two ago but haven't bothered to maintain it since then. The field had at least been mowed once this year but I wouldn't bet on it being a common occurrence.

You're supposed to throw over some giant drainage bowl to where hole 3's basket is alleged to exist along a wooden fence line. Hole 4 has you "tee off" from just behind the fence - ironically enough right by the "NO TRESPASSING - STORM WATER DRAINAGE" sign that tells you to stay out of the giant bowl you just had to throw over.

Hole 5 I threw to the wrong basket because according to UDISC you're supposed to throw into a giant wall of trees in the woods.

Can't speak for hole 7 because I never really figured out where to tee off and couldn't find a basket. Hole 8 has you throwing near a parking lot so I skipped that once since it was pretty full of cars. Hole 9 has you again throwing into the woods and the weeds were about overgrowing the basket.

Other Thoughts:

The sad thing is there's a lot of potential here. The designer had some good ideas, just maybe ran out of money and/or time. It would be a fun course to create a safari layout.

As it stands now though I really can't recommend it to anyone except the locals, and even then they'd be better off just making it up as they go.
