Pros:

-Scenic
-Two practice baskets at the base give you the opportunity to pitch and putt and get a good warm up in before you start.
-New Mach X baskets with bright number plates. Certainly makes the basket easier to spot In the woods.
-Restrooms, food/drinks, pro shop(Custom DGA discs), and disc rental are all available.
-Two tees per hole.
-Basic signage is helpful to give you an idea of what lies ahead.

Cons:

-Tees are short, loose stone.
-Seasonal, only open weekends, closed entire month of August.
-Navigation is tricky first time through. Map is available in links/files or bring a guide.
-Course plays close to mountain biking trails. Exclusive for the most part, however may merge in a few areas.
-Walk from basket 14 to 15 tee crosses hole 4 fairway.

Other Thoughts:

Scenery and elevation changes make for an overall enjoyable round. The terrain can be demanding in the woods. Appropriate footwear is beneficial.

Biggest gripe is the tee areas. The material used seems very similar to landscaping peastone, which as opposed to crusher or 1B stone dust, will not compact well. accompanied with short length of these tee areas, generating a fluid, sure-footed, powerful drive is extremely difficult. Contrete is not the most practical option, however 4'x8' flypad should be looked into. Given the length of many of the holes, having the best footing possible from the drive would give you the best chance to be accurate as well.

On the subject of accuracy, placement is definitely key. The rough/shule is downright nasty. Almost all areas surrounding the trails and the edge of the woods, specifically holes 6,9,15,16, and 18 have some very dense vegetation. given the distance one could cover thowing downhill, if you end up left or right or the trail you'll spend a good amount of time searching for your shot. mixed in with the ferns in some areas were some real thorny weeds that will cut you up pretty good walking through.

The design of the wooded holes could be described as more frustrating than challenging. A couple are fair if you stay straight (7 and 8), however 2,5,11,12,and 14 were real poke n' hope runs. The design for hole 13 from the blue tee seems to simply add a stroke as opposed to adding challenge.

Some of the mountain bike trails play a little close to the course in areas. Traffic is low, so just a potential concern.

Course is very much in its infancy and still rough around the edges. Course Designer encourages feedback and will relay to Maintenance. Teepads, detailed/directional signage, and continued fairway shaping in the woods would greatly improve this course.

The 1700' foot elephant in the room... 2+ years drive by

Pros:

-Beautiful scenery
-Pretty open fairways
-Huge elevation changes
-Possibly the longest hole around
-Food and facilities available at the lodge

Cons:

-Short Tees'
-A small bit of mud in spots
-Small fee to ride the lift up but necessary
-Caution is needed if looking for lost discs

Other Thoughts:

A challenging but enjoyable course with tons of future potential. This course has just opened within the past month (May/June 2014) so the grooming of many holes is very fresh though relatively neat. I did find the tees' to be just a bit too short for my liking though. The course cards and course sings are very well made and allow for pretty easy navigation to each tee. A little attention is needed though as the ski area allows mountain biking on the mountain but no trails really interfere with the actual fairway. The thing that makes the course so unique in the area is the major elevation changes through out play. It is, as noted, designed at a downhill ski area. that being said, bring good shoes... Your feet will thank you. There are both descents and a fair amount of climbing (chair lift is only used to get to the 1st and 10th holes). Now the finale... The massive 18th hole... This just might be the longest hole in the USA and maybe the World. The Blue tee is nearly 1700' long (1345' for the Red) and is all down hill and wide open. If you have ever had aspirations of being a pro with 400-500' drives, then this hole is for you. Just make sure you have a spotter further down the mountain to watch the landing zone. Discs can easily disappear over the steep elevations. Overall, I think the course was a hit that will only get better through time.
