Could be a good course someday

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 7, 2024 Played the course:once

Pros:

Decent tee pads they are working on making even better
Short Red Baskets and Long Gold baskets on most holes
Good mixture of open, tight, long, short holes. Even some slight elevation for Oklahoma.

Cons:

Course is still in building mode so it's rough in spots.
No tee signs yet
A few holes have mandos to force shots

Other Thoughts:

Don't get me wrong, this course has some GREAT holes, but it also has some crap holes and a few hole that might should be changed.

Ok, hole 1 has a mando to keep you from throwing over a sidewalk. That was strike one right off the bat. The hole itself was actually pretty good, both the short and long positions. But the fact that the sidewalk is right there ruins it.

Hole 2 has another mando, this time just to attempt to make the Gold basket a little harder (I think) It's now a skip shot to the left. There is also artificial OB's marked on the edge of the greens and fairways.

Hole 3 has yet another mando. This one forces you to throw down though the tree's instead of out down the walking path. Worst part about this hole is both the Red and the Gold baskets fairways cross walking paths. This is a no no in course design. If it where not for the walking paths, this is actually a great hole.

After this you get away from the walking trail for most of the rest of the course.

Hole 4 Red pin is a good hole, the Gold is hard right from there. I don't have the arm to go over the top, there might be a shot that way, but even with a good forehand, this hole is an easy par 3 if you make it past the tree's and not really good for 2 in the Gold.

Hole 5, good hole, basket for gold is even raised.

Hole 6 is throwing to a temp basket right now, it's a hard left shot with a fence you can't cross straight ahead. This is not a good hole the way it is laid out right now.

hole 7 is a wide open Island hole

Hole 8 is the BEST hole on the course. The Red pin is hidden over a hill from the tee just short of a pond. The Gold is across the water between some evergreens. Very good risk/reward hole.

Hole 9 has a mando for some reason. It makes the Gold Pin a huge turnover shot. It's just forcing what someone would throw instead of just a simple hyzer.

Hole 10's gold is just dumb. No mando marked. I assume the tall grass is OB. If you got an arm this would play like an Island hole I guess. The red is straight ahead. For me, I threw and parked the red, then threw an upshot to Gold for the easy 3.

Hole 11, another great hole. The red is off to the right with a clear path to the basket. The Gold's fairway is to the left and the basket is located behind a huge evergreen tree on a slope with OB right behind the basket. other than OB being SO close to the basket, this is a GREAT hole.

Holes 12, 13 and 14 just have one pin position and are all decent birdie shots if you hit the line. All are decent holes.

Hole 15, another great hole, the Red pin is an ace run shot straight though the tree's. The Gold is across a raven/valley with the basket on the side of the hill. A 2 is possible, but it's a tough shot.

15A, not sure why this temp hole has been set up. it's an island hole in the wide open. The big issue is the walking path behind the basket. You are OB if you throw past the basket, but the walkers are in danger if you overthrow it.

Hole 16 is a mixed bag. It's dumb because you have another tee in the fall off zone of a right handed player. They have even put up a net to catch those shots. That should tell the designer they didn't do a good job here. other than that, the Red pin would be a left to right skip shot, but the Gold is way up on a little hill. A 3 is a true birdie on this hole. Oh, there is a mando forcing you to throw on the fairway.

Hole 17 Decent hole with the Red off to the left (my drive landed under the basket shooting for Gold) and the Gold is up to the right.

Hole 18 is another good hole. It's almost a tweener hole. Its uphill but had a nice fairway though the tree's. The basket is up to the right in a grove a trees. Gold and Red use the same pin placement.

Why only a 3 star rating The hard left and hard right holes cost it a star from me, the crossing sidewalk and mando's cost it another star.

Would I play here again? Yes, when the course is finished and beat in a little, I want to check this one out again. I ran into a couple of locals who said they just designed a short layout that would explain a random basket in the fairway of hole 3 I could not figure out. This course does have a few true par 4 holes, but this it does have a couple of trash holes. In general, it's a fun course to play for the rest.
