Slow and Steady wins

Reviewed: Played on:Jan 25, 2024 Played the course:once

Pros:

Cement tee pads with several holes with long and short pads
Plenty of parking
Has a couple of GREAT holes
Lot of large trees giving plenty of shade

Cons:

Parking is not near hole 1 and kind of a long walk back from hole 21.
Mosquitoes, I talked to a guy who literally walked off the course because he could not stand it anymore.
Very flat
Tree's are so tall that I felt like it was an open course even with all those tree's.
A few of the holes had mando's
A few holes fairways seemed too close together

Other Thoughts:

Brand new tournament course for the greater Houston area. I do believe this course is going to be used for Texas States this year.

What this course has going for it is that it has a lot of tree's and some length to it. HOWEVER I am going to admit that I did not enjoy my round.

I can't throw much more than 350ft at best. So when a hole is longer than that and is a par 3. It's drive, upshot and putt just to get a 3. I felt like this course had too many of those holes that I was just making easy par's on.

Why I think this course is really just a 3.75 instead of a 4 is because there are really not many risk reward types of shots. If you turn it over or hyzer out, no big deal, just throw your upshot for the 3. There are some Mando's. One of them really got me in that the mando is to go around another hole. I felt like this was forced to get some length to the course or just to give a big arm a turnover shot.

There are a couple of really good holes, I really like hole hole 10 and think it is the best hole on the course. Its a left then hard right shot over a ravine (the only elevation on the course) You got to get your disc to the right landing spot to throw the upshot under the basket.

The rest of the course is mostly long drives though some very tall large tree's that almost don't come into play, upshot and putt. Move on to the next hole.

I didn't play the short tee's, I might have enjoyed my round a little more if I had.

As far as this being a top tournament course? I just don't see it. I guess if you marked some artificial OB's that would tighten up the fairways. otherwise I just found the course boring. I do think it's better than a 3.5 rating, but I am pushing it rating it a 4 to be honest.

Would I play here again? Nope, been there, done that. I am being flat out honest here, I really found most of the course average at best. I was disappointed to tell the truth.
