Disappointing 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 9, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

The set-up is in a convenient location. The baskets are new and name brand. It makes use of some of the only elevation and water in UB's north campus

Cons:

In July of 2016 the course was not in the new condition that the earlier photos depict it in. All of the tee signs were gone, and most of the tee pads disappeared as well. The baskets are not numbered, so even if you can find the tees you will have no info regarding which basket to throw to. They are all so close together...

The entire course is crammed into land that should play host to two or at most three holes. All baskets are simply scattered in the same treeless fairway around the hill in the middle. Every shot is pretty much the same. Nothing was very interesting.

Other Thoughts:

I spent four years on the campus of UB. I always dreamed of having a course there, and I dreamed of something far better than this. I don't know the reason why the variety of lightly used / unused terrain around the perimeter of campus was not incorporated into a course. UB has so much more nature to offer than just this hill behind the bookstore.

Even if the tees and baskets were marked, and some trees were added, this course would only be passable at best. As it was when I saw it, it was borderline un-playable. It may be a convenient place for students to practice putts and approaches, but to play a real round a short drive is in order to many of the better courses the region has to offer.

Introduction to Disc Golf 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 1, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

New DiscCatcher's. Best place for field practice. Great for UB students to kill time and introduce new people to the sport.

Cons:

No Obstacles or defined fairways. Parking (Free 1hr. parking at the bookstore)

Other Thoughts:

Not sure if I can can even categorize this as an actual course since it's just 9 baskets scattered around a field that's slightly hilly. It's a great place to practice or introduce people to the sport. I personally didn't play the designated holes but just picked a basket and threw multiple shots to each one. It could develop into a cool 9 hole project if a group of students who are majoring in something like landscaping design to define fairways with planting trees, shrubs, placing boulders and so on to give the place some kind of personality.
