Nice use of Wall Lake Park

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 17, 2023 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

+Nice baskets that are all in good shape.
+Very peaceful setting. Not a lot going on out here. The park doesn't seem to be used much except maybe a hot weekend during the summer at the beach. Even then, there's not going to be much interference at the disc golf portion of the park.
+Tees are carpet like mats. In good shape for now.
+Decent variety of distance. Not a total pitch and putt but not too long either. Should cater to a decent variety of throwers. Shouldn't overwhelm beginners while still entertaining better players for awhile.
+Maintenance of this park seems good. I've never seen the mowing get out of hand.
+A bit of elevation that is incorporated into the course as well as it can be.
+Shouldn't lose a disc here. It's possible but no disc eating hazzards.
+Lightly wooded, not totally open but still need some line shaping ability.
+Beach, shelter, parking, garbage cans onsite. Parking appears to be closed for the winter but you can still park near the beach if you want to play.

Cons:

-No signage. I'm old fashioned and like to not look at my phone to figure out where to go next or where the basket might be if not in sight from the tee.
-Tees are ok but won't last forever. Some are a bit lumpy. Not my favorite surface to throw off of.
-Overall, the land is pretty average for a disc golf course. It's a little too open and flat for my liking. The designers did well with what they had but it's just not too exciting.

Other Thoughts:

+Hard to find a lot of faults with this course. The land is just pretty vanilla. I don't know if I would come out here again while visiting Sioux Falls. The courses at Sertoma, Tuthill, and Spencer are all more fun as is the course at Big Sioux Rec Area in Brandon.
+The fun factor here is average. Not great but not bad either. This is a perfectly average course in my opinion. A perfect 2.5.
