[Latitude] Lat64 Villain

^^
this
i tried the XXX for a bit but just liked the gummy monsters. they are more indestructible and taco when they hit the ground thus dont bonce as far

I have 2 of those that I would move

on topic...sort of

have you tried the Giant Discspeed?
might be slightly faster than the Villain though so might not meet your approval on a wing width perspective

I should try the Giant...TBH I've never even grabbed one to feel. The longer I go without throwing rims wider than 2.1-2.2 the worse the larger rims feel to me. Rim width isn't everything when it comes to disc feel though. If I feel like I can get a good rip with the Giant I'll try it. Usually around 2.3-2.4cm I stop getting audible snap on my release, so I'm heaving the disc more than I'm throwing it.

I think the Giant is the Westside sister of the Villain

I believe ZJ1002 said it was the best feeling sp 13 he'd ever felt

I haven't thrown the Villain but I do appreciate the Giant for what it is
a fast os distance driver that is actually useful

given your position with CWDGS you ought to give one a try

with Villains in your bag you may not bag the Giant but at the very least toss one a couple dozen times and let the rest of us know your thoughts on it as that would be good information to know

(i.e. better than my 2 cent opinion)

I just did a seach and according to the results there are no Villain threads that are not Villain vs X so....

Here it is, a thread just for the Villain (which must not be that popular so far).

I love this disc(OPTO), it has replaced all overstable drivers from my OS utility driver (FB) to my OS distance driver.

It reminds me of a faster/longer Predator in better plastic, or perhaps a hybrid of the Force and Predator in better plastic. The wind has been kicking all week and my Opto Villain has really shined, going 400' into the wind without any HS turn(full flight thrown anny). It has been difficult to find an OS compliment to my Sword, and it's as if the Villain was born to do this. The two discs look so similar from the side that I'd bet they share at least 1/3-2/3 of the same mold (different core for sure as Villain is taller). There is a little variation in stability in the Opto as I have a Pink that is domey and very overstable and yellows that are more versatile and better D drivers because they are flatter and a bit less OS.

I have a little experience with a single color of GL Villains (Pinkish maroon). I don't think I've thrown another Lat/Westside disc that was a different in the two plastics as the Villain. The GL version is not OS to start with, instead it is very straight under power, much like a slightly slower Sword. It would make an excellent OS disc for 350' thrower, but at my power it seems like a confusing disc as it is not OS enough for wind or power hyzers and there are better straight D drivers (like the Sword).

Anyway, if yo are like me and like to drive with discs like the Sword/Flow/Wraith/Surge (I strongly dislike my rims any wider) they you should give the Villain a shot as a compliment.

Discspeed, I agree with everything you said here. I have been throwing the Villain since last summer and it really fit in to my bag perfectly. It has proven to be a great side arm, head wind and utility meat hook driver.

I keep an orange Opto in the bag as a utility meat hook and thumber (replaced Firebirds). I also have two yellow (kind of splotchy) Gold Line Villains that feel absolutely amazing. I have never felt plastic like them. I have lots of Gold Line Lat 64s that feel nothing like my two Villains. The colder they get the more noticeable the difference in feel. I hope I can find other molds in this version of GL.

I heard from one of my friends who mashes drives like 450+ and the opto one he had flew like those stupid flat firebirds. Is your opto ones domey? Would you compare the gl to a stable PD? I have seen villains that are flat and some are domey what are the flight differences between plastic and dome size?

I can't really comment on the dome comparison but the difference between the plastics is big. The Opto I have, has a little dome but not much. Same with the GL. Your comparison for the GL to a stable PD is probably close.

My GL probebly gets thrown three times more than the Opto. It is much more versital for me. The Opto comes out in heavy headwinds when I cannot risk any turn or when I need a giant skip at the end of a long distance drive.

Reminds me of a faster/longer Predator in better plastic

This exactly describes my experience with the Opto Villain. Mine is 168 and mildly domed.

This is the most comfortable to grip, fast OS driver I've found. Great for short fingered individuals.

Gotta break in the Optos, but they are sweet overstable distance drivers once you do. Mine are somewhat domey (not flat), and it only went left when it was new. Then one day it suddenly changed into a throwable disc.

I do like the Villain, however I have replaced it with a Giant. My Giant is about the same stability as my Villains and a little faster and longer.

I throw a villian. Fun disc. Rim is great for small hands. I use it for flicks and a utility rhbh disc. I generally use pains if i need something that finishes to the extreme left as rhbh. If i need more distance than a pain then i use a villain. Good disc go have. My other drivers really dont fill the same role that a villain can fill.

I think I lost my Giant :/ I haven't seen it in a long time, anyway. I decided at the last second of ordering a replacement to try the Villain. I'm kind of nervous that I am going to be disappointed with its stability compared to the Giant

I imagine this is not a disc for the noodle-armed?

300' noodle arm here
i just got a 169 opto villian for a wind disc (opto saint is my main go to driver)
put a few throws on it tonite
i like it, but it is pretty beefy for me, but thats what i wanted

I was between the Giant and Villain for my OS distance driver. Figured I would try one and if I didn't like it try the other.

Got the Giant first and really liked it, so I never bothered to try the Villain, but have always fondled them whenever I go in to GGGT. Nice to hear that essentially the Villain is a shorter Giant, so I'm not missing much.

My Giant is exactly what I wanted. Very stable in calm conditions. In a stiff headwind it flies like my Trespass does in calm conditions, which means I don't have to sacrifice distance into the wind. Really happy with it.

After throwing the Giant for a while now, I definitely have to say that my Villains are more overstable and shorter. They really seem like discs with different purposes. The Giant is a distance driver...It has some overstability, but not enough to inhibit how far it goes. The Villain seems more on the control side...Its fade doesn't glide or penetrate as much so it restricts how far the disc can go.

I use a 172 Opto Villian for the same tasks. Great wind cutting distance; I don't have a cannon either, so other than whippin' winds, it stays in the bag.

After reading this you make one want to try a Giant, because my findings are spot on with you on the Villain. It is a fantastic disc, even though it's a lot of beef for me I throw it a lot. Not necessarily for straight distance but where I know it's going to do what I need it to.

For the Giant I would assume for someone in the 350-375' range would like it in TP more so then VIP due to the stability in the different plastics? Or would that just be pure overlap with my distance and the Villain. 300-330' range is the distance I throw my Villain.

It doesn't matter. I have a vip that is in the middle of stability and a tp that is an absolute beef. If anything look for a light weight tp or vip. The air giant in my opinion doesn't fly like a giant. I have a light weight villain gl that flies that actually some turn to it, not beefy at all.

Thank you for replying, next time I place an order I will just see what color's they have in each plastic and order what I think looks best. Although, do you think it's overlap to have both in the bag?
