This topic came up in another thread I started about money in Disc Golf. I thought it might be fun to see who we all might like to actually do the commentary for Disc Golf when it finally gets aired on TV. So, lets get all the names out here and in a couple of days, I will make a poll. Lets see if we can first list all the people who either already do commentary for Disc Golf in some way shape or form (please also make a note of where they do their commentary currently) or anyone who does a Disc Golf poscast. Then let us also think big to current or former comentators for other sports or even celebrities. They do not need to be alive today to make the list.

I think the best combination would be the guy who used to work for CBS College Sports who did the play-by-play on past Worlds Dvds and David Greenwell. David Greenwell would be the color commentator who could help the viewer understand what is going on.

I joke a lot, but I honestly have a really good voice for this sort of thing and know disc golf well, I think I would be an excellent commentator.

Also, John Smoltz, just because he's one of my all time favorite baseball players and an excellent commentator.

Adam Zucker - worked with him doing commentary on the 2007 Pro Worlds DVD.

I would much prefer Terry Miller as color with Billy Crump as play by play. Let fellow players who aren't competing (Paige...ect) host player interviews.

I think Greenwell is a great choice. He's honest but not insulting, humble, and well versed in the game. If/when he's done touring, Feldberg would also be a great option. I would like to see someone that's a little "outside the box" to pair with him. Maybe a Fred Willard-type in Best In Show?

I also think that there needs to be a rotating course "pro" who knows the nuances of the events' courses to break down the holes the first time a card plays it. One of the things that bothers me about DGM is that there's almost zero chatter when the commentators don't know the course. On the other side, the guy who does the play by play on the Jersey Jam episodes with Cubby is constantly negative about everyone's lie (unless it's Brinster, then he's nothing but compliments)..."he's got a decent lie, but it could be better".

Another Crump fan here..."ohhh he's got a stick in the bum, maybe the eye." Classic, wish PDGA had gone with Clash for broadcasting instead of DGP. Greenwell's a legend but he's no Crump. Not to mention DGP.tv is crap for quality and Clash is top notch imho.

Crump is awesome. Really enjoyed his commentary during worlds this year.

I remember way back when Disc TV was on (2002ish?), they used to cover final rounds/nines with the host, Brian Sullivan, following along providing commentary live on the spot not unlike what Greenwell and Crump have done for Disc Golf Planet from time to time. He usually snagged a player who did not make the final to provide color. Anyway, for the coverage of, I think, the Masters Cup, the color man was Ken Climo. It surprised me how good he was at it...describing the holes and how the players needed to attack them, etc. The idea has stuck with me since then that he'd be an ideal guy to do color commentary if and when we ever got to the point of having TV coverage, mostly because by the time we do get to that point, he'll probably be in his 50s and more or less retired from competing at the big events that would warrant TV coverage. He'd fit right into that Johnny Miller/Nick Faldo type role.
