I played a few rounds this week in particularly muddy conditions this week and my discs were pretty nasty looking. I was washing dishes this afternoon, and when I was done I tossed all my discs in the water and took a sponges to knock off the dirt and stuff. My wife looked at me like I was nuts. And, she plays as well. I will clean up the discs from time to time, take a file to any knicked out spots around the edges and stuff. I just consider it the same as cleaning up my ball-golf clubs. Is this odd?

very rarely...but i will do it on occasion...speaking of which, i need to right now as mine are pretty muddy from the rain the past 2 days...im just too lazy to do it lol

i do this too.

but all of us here already know that we are crazy

I think most of those on this site wash their discs from time to time. Depending on how dirty they get, I might clean mine up good every other month at that.

I have washed my discs in the sink and cleaned them like I was doing the dishes, and my wife just walked by and shook her head.

Yeah I have done this. The wife didn't see me washing them but when she walked in the door she noticed my disc all sitting upright in one of those rubbermaid things that helps dry plates. Many years ago I used to wash my plastc after every round but now I only clean them if they have alot of mud or swamp water residue.

I do it. And instead of filing your nicks, take a lighter and soften the plastic and mold it back onto the rim. You don't lose weight and change the flight characteristics.....

I'll have to try the heating bit. I carry a nail clipper and a nail file to remove anything that gets peeled back. As for washing I do it in the sink as well. My discs get pretty muddy in the spring.

I've never intentionally washed a golf disc in the house. I have scooped up some water from the creek, lake, or a puddle to clean up a disc with dried up mud on it. I normally don't even bring my discs (golf bag) into the house.

This is technically illegal, BTW, so just don't tell anyone if you play a PDGA tourney. You are only allowed to "alter" your disc if it could injure your hand while throwing it or some BS like that.

I wash my discs occasionally, and I also found that fine grain sandpaper and soapy water get pond scum off a disc well, and didn't even feel rough (good plastic though, haven't tried cheap stuff). Also illegal.

i do it all the time, there isnt anything worse than having dirty discs

I clean mine quite often. I also put a coat of Meguiar's wax on the top about once a month. Helps keep 'em shiny and clean.
