Yup. Gotta at least have some highlights and storytelling as part of a recap. Doss killed it? Show me his top shots and walk me through his round.
I touched on it briefly in the USDGC thread but I'll expound a bit here:
It seems like they are really stretching their dollars to try and make it look professional. Obviously the production people aren't amateurs doing it in their basements or something, but if you want it to really have a professional sheen you do need people with a lot of experience. Sure, part of it is people taking it for granted and forgetting they are getting free content. I've dealt with that side myself through Hucking Aces (of course our quality is a huge step down from what Spin TV is doing, so let's not get that twisted) but if you're going to hype the "professional" part it needs to be so.
I like Jamie, but I don't think he should be doing the whole shebang. When they cut to The Disc Golf Guy talking to Nate Doss, it was clear how much more comfortable in front of the camera Terry Miller is. In a perfect world I'd have Terry hosting with Jamie doing interviews...I don't forsee that happening, but that's what I would prefer. At least until Jamie is more comfortable talking to the camera. I know it's not an easy skill to master.
It's free, so I can't complain too much. I just hope someone does read these criticisms and uses them to progress even further.

This is the crux. They seem to be sacrificing content for the appearance of professionalism.
I can agree with that for sure. It becomes a matter of what's more important to the average viewer. In this case, I would say content.

Agreed but apparently the existing fanbase doesn't fit into the "vision."
You NEVER sacrifice content and you never try to overdesign a lack of content to hide it.

I understand the need to control the media content of your event and trying to make it look as professional as possible. But in the year 2015, people can get content of anything anywhere due to the readily accessibly mobile devices and the likes. A quick highlight of each days events, view of the leader board, a special story and an in-dept analysis with a forecast of the next days play would work just fine in a 30 minute clip. Doesn't have to be fancy. But at least allow the viewership (which is constantly growing) to see some actual footage of play. Not many people can play this tournament yet alone to watch it in person, at least show some coverage after the rounds have been completed.

For anyone who witnessed Jussi's posts around the St Jude's criticism and Euro Open criticism, he basically said he doesn't care about 'us' ie the 3000-6000 that tune in to live coverage when it's available.
He even presented fancy infographics (http://www.opendiscgolf.com/2015/07/24/eo2015-makes-waves-in-media/) of social media hits and other media saturation.
Reading into it, he's basically limiting coverage and access to boost the numbers of hits on social media to be able to present that info to future sponsors and the like. And by limiting the live coverage until the final 2 days, he's trying to max out the numbers that will eventually tune in. (And possibly 'next-day' vids won't be available until after the tourney's over?)
Not saying I agree with it, not saying I'm a Jussi fan, not saying I will bother to watch another awkward Insider Show, just saying he's trying something here, and, after all, he's got a 'five year plan'.

I suppose if we want a breakdown of the day's events there are recaps at All Things Disc Golf...even if they aren't very well-written and don't follow proper quote/paragraph structure. :|

I like the professionalism and thought Jamie did a pretty decent job. But please, we need to see some real action. Nobody who's semi-interested in disc golf is tuning in to watch 20 minutes of talking. They could have played the interview with Paige on audio and had highlights showing the whole time.
I would! But I have no professional broadcasting experience or have even studied it.
And that was my exact point. In a perfect world, Terry Miller would host it, while Jamie would do interviews and small segments for another year or even two to build up that comfort.
i do agree he has a great voice, timbre and inflection for broadcasting.
looks like tonight has been delayed again, we will see if it starts in 9 minutes I was looking all over for some kind of update but only found on facebook...

I like JT but I do not know how much more of this I can watch. This is disappointment condensed into a wasted 22 minutes that I waited all day to see :doh:.
Now I bet you guys that have watched the previous Euro Open Insider shows would not have blasted it so bad, they were Super compared to this...:\

The Barsby interview should have been scrapped...dude DNF'ed this morning? Find someone who IS IN the tourney still. I mean him no hate with that statement. IMO he rendered himself irrelevant to the event by dropping out, even if he is considered a DG "personality".
Hopefully SmashBoxxTV can rescue the so called "media coverage" that is the 2015 USDGC :thmbup:!

Couple improvements tonight: The Sights and Sounds had some sounds to go with the sights, and splicing in some player footage with the metrics breakdown helped from a visual standpoint. But what was up with all the background noise in the intro?
I wonder if Jamie would be willing to add someone else to the mix for this show to trade off commentary with, like they do on Sportscenter. It just seems a little odd to have his voice in the background of the metrics segment, then come right back to him for another segue. It would be a bit more natural to have two people, that way you could have a little give and take, like he does on his round commentaries.
Also enjoyed the commentary on the Top 5 segment. We need more of this to tell the story of the day, in addition to the Top 5.
Looking forward to see what they add as the week goes on. Today was better, for sure.
