My name is Ryan, I am 32 and just recently got introduced to disc golf thanks to a Discraft starter kit for Christmas. I play every Sunday at Boyertown Park or Kennilworth depending on my mood (avg +10).

Like most, I am obsessed with disc golf and spend a large amount of time practicing my form, reading, day dreaming of or field training. Just this past week I slowed down my x-step, figured out the four finger power grip and worked on my hips and was able to rip my recently acquired Teebird +300ft. (for some reason the grip and x-step just clicked this week) I still have a lot to work on so I take my recent accomplishment with a grain of salt. I am also looking to become more consistent and clean up my approaches, I really struggle with my mid game and tend to under power a lot of my mid shots.

If you're out at Kennilworth or Boyertown and see me out there (short dark hair, 5'11, 220 and usually play with a real tall lanky fellow), feel free to stop over, we're super chill and don't mind looking like fools in front of strangers.

He is still writing, and I think the rate will probably pick up a bit once spring rolls around. I'm hoping to post some more stuff on HeavyDisc as well!

Do you ever get over to Lancaster to play? Ship Rock is amazing if you've never been.

Never been, I'm trying to make it out to Camp Sankanac and French Creek Park since they are super close but Lancaster is a short drive away so I may have to add Ship Rock to my list of must visits this spring.

Boyertown and Kennilworth have a club that host all sorts of events. If you have Facebook look up "Phat Cats Disc Golf Club".

Yup I gave them a follow the other day, pretty sure I met a few members while playing and may have graduated with some (Boyertown native) Anyways, thanks for looking out!

Check out the Lehigh Valley Disc Club (LVDC) on facebook. If you feel like heading into the valley, you have a lot of quality course options available...and tournaments. Lots and lots of tournaments.

I'll check it out, I'd love to do some tournaments once I'm a little more seasoned. I'm a firm believer if you want to be better at anything you have to play people who are better than yourself. At this point though I still have to learn the fundamentals, but I will definitely check it out.

Hello from South Central PA as well! If you ever in the Harrisburg area hit me or clard up!

I may have to make it a point to swing out that way, I'd love to meet people from the community and soak up any experience I can from veteran players.

In the same boat

Definitely try Sankanac! Just email ahead, Cory is very fast about responding. French creek is a definite, all woods but it mostly gives you a tight fairway to throw through. Beautiful tee pads and very nice benches. Other courses worth a look in the area are Anson Nixon, Sedgely (my home course), Tyler (worth the drive, try all 36 if you can take a longish break for lunch, it's tiring), Sellersville (can get crowded but so can Sedgely), and Stafford Woods if you feel inclined to drive into Jersey. I probably missed a few, bunch of good practice courses around too. I never understood the obsession with golf until I started playing disc golf last august. I've played Kennelworth and Boyertown once each. Hit every tree in Boyertown, and it was a very windy day at Kennelworth. Thats my story anyways. Threw ~plus 16 at both.

Thanks dude, I plan to make it out to some of those and others Ive never heard, of so major thumbs up!

I love Kenilworth and Boyertown, very noob friendly and 5 mins from home.

^^^^ THAT!!

Been to a lot of disc golf stores, never seen anything like D-Town!
Word of warning... I've frequently gone in for one disc and left with 8.
Also, if you join a local tag league, bring your tag in with you, they give us 10% off discs. It's pretty much equidistant from Nockamixon, Sellersville, Tyler and Tinicum. More than once I've gone there and picked up a new disc to try on my way to one of those courses... And then stopped there again after to buy another one because it flew great for the 3 or 4 throws I saw before I lost it.

Why the green text?

come check out D-town Disc Golf if you play any courses in Bucks County and want to touch some plastic in person
www.discgolfmarket.com

I've checked the online store out and plan to visit the physical location soon for that very reason. There are several discs I want to grip before I purchase, thumbs up for a solid recommendation though!

There is a club local to me (Phat Cats), I joined them on Facebook but wasn't sure how beginner friendly clubs were or even how tags work. (mostly just lurking right now) To clarify I understand how tags work but I'm not sure how you get involved. Is it something you have to wait for a new season or just jump in as the lowest man on the totem pole and play up?
