The Inevitable 2017 Pros Switching Sponsors Thread

effing hilarious with the picture!

If a joke falls in the woods and no one gets it, is it still a joke?

A buddy made this mini snowman during a round a couple days ago, so I told him I was going to take a pic and needed a disc -- he tossed me a Legacy mini and this meme was born!

I guess some have not seen the infamous Barsby / KC iron leaf video -- oh well, we had a good laugh anyway. :)

That video is one of the many reasons I love Barsby. He is so fking funny.

missed this announcement. where'd they announce him signing with pound?

He announced that during the Smashboxx aftershow when asked to do a brief in the bag. Basically didnt want to reveal anything but he was so excited that he let it slip. I don't think Levi would mind....I guess he just wanted to do his in the bag on thursday and just reveal everything at once.

Honestly, I want to see the ITB from Jerm after the mid-season... I'm wanting an August ITB from Jerm. How's the Millennium, Discmania, Innova mix! Yeah, he loves FDs, (as he creamed for in the Smashboxx interview) but I want to see what he's throwing after a mid-season. I'm betting CD2s, TDs, Tern/DDx, and HOPEFULLY FREAKING Big Jerm Tour Series Zephyrs! :D Dude loves understable forehand discs. So, I'm betting CD2s, TDs, DDx kinda discs.

I'm excited to see Jerms Tour Series disc. Hopefully it becomes a staple in many bags like the Sexton Firebird.

Judging from his bio on the Innova website, I could see it being most likely a Colossus or a Leopard3

For those that don't listen to the Smashboxx podcast, Paige Pierce said that the ace she threw during worlds mixed doubles was with a DD Lucid Convict. So she was definitely throwing trilogy plastic for a while even though she was still sponsored by Prodigy. Terry Miller also joked that she must know her new bag much better than other pros that are switching sponsors.

Saw her throwing Defenders all the way back in May at Masters Cup, and she wasn't hiding anything. She's definitely got a head start.

Seriously this just cements my opinion of her.

^ not to say she was wrong for throwing DD when under contract for Prodigy but behind closed doors who really knows what the bad blood was coming from. I remember seeing something about her not getting sent to Europe when she was clearly the top female player (They sent Cat) on the team and something about possibly not getting the extra dollars for winning worlds? Not sure if it was because of what she said about how she shouldn't have won it or if the company said she shouldn't have won there for we are not paying. Jerm made a point last night saying they needed 90 days notice before end of contract so im guessing she might have missed the date at the end of 2015 and they automatically made her sign for another year.

This is why I wish Terry had the journalistic integrity to ask tough questions like "Please explain why you were dissapointed with Prodigy" I mean she was literally trash talking Prodigy in the interview, although in a kind of veiled way, but it was obvious. Why Terry doesn't ask a simple question like that is very annoying.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Prodigy let their team members throw plastic from their former sponsors back in 2013 when they were formed? The best explanation for that is that they wanted their players to play their absolute best, and that can only truly be done with discs you are perfectly comfortable with throwing... That would not surprise me if Paige had gone to the management for prodigy and said that she could play better if she was throwing different discs, and they let her. Not saying that this is what happened, just speculating.

Like when Will prodigy sponsored won the memorial in a playoff with the firebird?

They let their pros throw other companies' discs in 2013 because Prodigy only had 3 putters and 4 distance drivers PDGA approved (and they had no baseline plastic). They didn't have most of their fairways and mids for at least a year as I recall (can't remember when they finally released baseline plastic). I think most of their pros were allowed to throw a mixed back for at least 2013 and 2014 just because Prodigy didn't have a full lineup yet. Now that's not to say shenanigans with stamping didn't go on even AFTER Prodigy had a full lineup, but the first year it was just a matter of Prodigy not having created all their molds yet. They couldn't require players contractually to throw a bag full of discs that hadn't been created yet.

Looking at the PDGA disc approval list, Prodigy had distance drivers approved January 1, 2013. Then M1-M4 and PA1, 2, and 4 in March. Then the F1-3 and F7 in July. Then the D5 and F5 rounded out the rest of 2013. Imagine being a touring pro spending all your time driving around the country trying to play competitively and being forced to work in a new mold every couple months to replace some disc you had spent years throwing? It just wouldn't be possible to do that and win tournaments. Of course, they didn't even have any 9 speed discs until late 2014. If you think there is a hole between their H series and D series now, imagine having nothing between the F series and D series. I'm not saying there aren't players who roll straight from Teebirds to Destroyers, but it's definitely not everyone's style. Anyway, I guess that's enough thread drift for now. :)

Boohoo, imagine if she had to live in the real world.

If Prodigy didn't pay a bonus and it was in her contract, then she could have legally broken said contract.

I would be willing to bet they had a clause in their contracts (after having a full line up) saying she had to throw Prodigy during sanctioned play.

The more I hear about her situation, the more I think she acted like a spoiled child.

Good thing she had her buddy Emac to score her a spot with DD.

Hopefully they don't sign an up and coming female pro who eventually gets better than her.
