Best EVER to have never won Worlds

Steve Rico is a good choice, He should have won but there was always ones like Ken Climo and Nate Doss in that time as well as Berry Shultz 2 times.

The Biggest Upset to win was Greg Barsby, he won with less forehand then any player since Ken Climo who did not have that much forehand until the early 2000's as majority did not have forehand either. Now Greg Barsby has a good-decent forehand compared to the other top pro players.

Barsby is a forehand player. his FH is great and not at all underrated

Jay Redding, has a bunch of Doubles titles with Sister Des Redding...

Just because you think it's OK to marry your sister, doesn't mean Jay Redding does. :wall:

Casey, if I could hit my lines and putt with the same consistency with which you post misinformation... the answer to the OP's question would have to be BogeyNoMore.

At this point, I'm pretty sure you get off spouting BS.

Dr Rick Voakes. He played Masters (35 and over) for the '88 Worlds and beat the field by 5+ strokes. Same courses same days as MPO. Which makes the '88 MPO Worlds winner the only person to win the Worlds and not beat the field.

So basically, this guy would have won MPO, had he registered for MPO rather than Pro Masters?

Damned impressive.

But if you win your division...aren't you still a World Champion?

Just cuz Sugar Ray Leonard and Marvin Hagler weren't Heavyeeights doesn't mean they didn't win the World's Title. :\

Nikko's time at the top was also in the time frame when Worlds wasn't really being dominated by one or two people like Climo or Paul/Ricky. While not surprising that he never won a Worlds I think I would take Nikko as the MPO answer to this question.

"Best EVER to have never won Worlds....and still could:" - Nikko Locastro.

He would have won MPO by I think it was 6 strokes. He still won his division and received the money and trophy for '88 Master's Worlds Champ.

Jay Redding, has a bunch of Doubles titles with Sister Des Redding and Putting world champion contest titles but no single person worlds titles, I found this odd since he is good at long bombs and one course in 2009 using Kettle Morane had some of these.

Then the other Carrie Berloger, she played in open for years yet never won the Open Worlds women title but has 2 Masters 40+ titles in 2011 and 2014.

Time to bring up Darrell Nodland again, however I don't believe he ever entered Worlds, but was a top contender at USDGC. Now at age 53, rated 1031 in latest update, down 2 points.

NO doubt the numbers are there/have been there for a long time. I'm just missing the stories, the lore, from those who have seen him play. When (what years) was his "prime"?

BNM:

Of course it's still a World's title. But that wasn't my OP. I specifically said in Open, MPO & FPO. Otherwise the question is different.

That's the prerubed thread.

I'm surprised Anthon isn't getting anymore talk. Didn't he finish 2nd like 3 or 4 times???

Here's his ratings history. His peak rating was 1040 in 2008 at age 41. Doesn't look like he ever entered Worlds. He was already 37 when he was contending at the 2004 USDGC.

Yes please. More information about these people and what happened/why you think that. WHy didn't Nodland enter world's? how'd he fare in other tourneys against top pros?

Nodland (2004 USDGC) and Randolph had or were getting engineering degrees and continue to work in that field. Disc golf was a hobby that provided competition and compensation when they were able to play. Scott Martin is another one who contended at the USDGC and may have played Worlds but his real job beckoned.
