what would happen to the sport if it went big ? would it destroy the sport that we all love and enjoy day in and day out or would it improve it?ask yourself that then ask someone else.:)

No one really would benefit from a blow up. I could even see the top manufacturers going out of business if a major player came in to sweep the industry. Imagine that we'd be all longing for the days of the buzzz and roc and pissed that innova and discraft got put out of business by some massive conglomerate.

We're in a weird spot around here. Really high traffic at two courses, but really low traffic at my other two favorites. granted we are a really big DG city for our size, I just wish our growing population of players would spread themselves across the other courses more. I dont like being crowded when I play.

I wouldn't mind having a little hope of being able to make money in the disc golf world if it blew up. Not a ton of money, just enough where it could transcend being a hobby. And my girlfriend may not get so annoyed with me for playing so much either.

Ah, the debate continues. I am sure I have posted about this before, even had some kind of poll on it.

I would really enjoy it if disc golf went big. There is no way that the big brands would go out of business and I doubt even if it goes big that Nike or Spaulding would be able to put anything out that would begin to take down the current bigs. More people playing would make courses busier but it would also mean more courses being built.

Marty Marty oh good to see you Marty it's doc I just came from the future...and I'm warning you be careful what you wish for....before I climb back into the delorean...you got any extra plastic?

thanx 4 ur reply im sure there would be good aspects from getting big and bad ones its just fine the way it is where everyone knows ur name at different courses if it went big i would probably be nobody

Is Chavez's grass still annoyingly long? Spent too long disc finding there the other day and have been avoiding it like the plague.

I really hope this sport blows up and gets mainstream. Industry expansion means jobs, competition pushes technology, and increased participation leads to more courses.

That said there will be cons, but I don't think I'd worry about Nike or the like taking over Innova's spot. Just because a sport is mainstream doesn't mean it'll ever be close to the profitability of Football, Basketball, etc.

Do you guys really think the current manufacters could survive?
Innova outsells dc 10 to 1 already, largely due to availability.
We would all be throwing discs made in china:(
.... Well not me, I have enough to last a few years;)

I also feel that with our current growth, one of our main concerns is that newer players do not fully understand the ethics that make our sport great.
Alot of new players are too cool to say hi, pick up trash(even thier own), volunteer, or return a disc.
At a local course I have to worry when throwing blind due to thiefs. WTF?
Is that where we are heading?
