I like to grade my reviews based on chances I would like to return.
5 I would come back no matter what..more of a pilgrimmage
4 if I am in the area again I would stop back and give it another shot
3 I would play if I am within 10 miles
2 I would play within 5 miles
1 I would play if within a mile
0 I would play if I am in the park for some reason

Copy the following and explain when u would play each or how far you'd travel

Assuming I am traveling the distance to play the course in question by itself and no others in the area...

5 > 65 mi
4 35-65 mi
3 10-35 mi
2 < 10 mi
1 wont play it again.
0 never rated anything zero. Any forest or field is a zero. Baskets + tees alone deserve a one.

Doesn't this depend a little on what other rated courses are in the same radius?

I occasionally travel 60-70 miles to play courses I rate as 3.5....but if there were more 4.5s within 20 miles of me, I probably wouldn't.

I'm planning to drive 200 miles to play a new course that I suspect is 4.0 or 4.5.....but am willing to do so because of some other courses I can play nearby, or on the way.

I am planning a trip with my son to travel a few hundred miles to play all the little rinky dink courses in rural MN. More of a father son bonding trip around disc golf.

Before I moved out of Humboldt, I drove 5 hours one way to play Whistler's Bend... played it... and then turned around and drove 5 hours home. Of course I stopped at a brewery and played another disc golf course too... but still, 5 hours one way, without doing an overnighter, is about the max.

I'm not sure how the numbers thing is supposed to work???

A few thousand miles I suppose... most of the places I've played have been more than 1000 miles from "home" depending on my definition of home.

Flip City= 4-5 hrs.
Highbridge Hills= 6-7 hrs.
Both will be driven to this summer. And I don't feel the need to explain...:)

I personally don't look at the distance I would drive to play a course and have that compared to my review rating but...

I think I would drive up to 4 hours to play a couple of courses. Even if they were not 5 rated courses. I would probably drive that to play even 3.5 and above rated courses ina single day. With that said, if there were 5 courses I haven't played in one area, I'd make this drive too. I don't care if even some of those were low rated courses. I love experiencing new courses, period.

I'd drive 5-12 hours away for weekend trips and make sure I stop by the highest rated course or courses along the way (or adjust route to accommodate them)...

5 - none nearby (within 100 mile radius), so I won't just go off and drive to one
4 - within 1-2 hour drive I'd consider (like the Ocala Greenway DGC comes to mind in my area, but I haven't driven up there yet...so maybe I need more motivation)
3 - within 30min to 1hr away if I need a change...
2 - if it's within 15-30min away and I'm really feeling the itch to play
1 - if it's in my back yard and I'm not allowed to leave due to house arrest
0 - if someone is paying me to play it and it's in my living room

I have driven a couple of hours away to play 3* rated courses for Tournaments, though...

Unlike some people on here, I don't worship the course ratings like they're gospel. I'd travel farther for a good cluster of 2.5 to 4 rated courses than a single 5. No single course is worth that kind of gas money. Often on road trips, what may be more convenient to reach in my line of travel will trump any accolades of quality. I plan to hit Blue Ribbon Pines next month, but I would never travel all that way from here just to play it.

The longest I have driven exclusively for disc golf is about 7 hours, one way. I drove up to Ludington, Michigan. Like Scarpfish however, I probably wouldn't have made the trip for one course only. Ludington has Beauty, Beast, Goliath and Leviathan all within a few miles.

Yepper, one way. I never mind getting up early to get somewhere with plenty of time to play.

Heh. Sorry, I wasn't responding to your post, but the question mark made that really ambiguous.

I meant: I'd drive about 4 hours one way to play, but with a little uncertainty as to whether I'd drive farther or not.

Sorry for the confusion. :)

I've driven 3 hours a couple times but my new limit is an hour and fortyfive minutes. That's how long it takes to get to Hawk Hollow.

I don't care what they are rated, I will play them if they need a review or pics uploaded and I am in the area.
