I know I'm not the first to notice that a vast majority of tade posts are exactly that:

I have stuff and I want Discraft.

What gives? Is it really a huge part of the market running in this direction? Maybe in certain regions, it's a supply/demand issue? Or maybe, I know a few won't like hearing this, maybe people are fed up with the inconsistant production runs between same molds? All manufacturers have this issue, just some moreso than others.

What do you think?

My thought: Discraft does have higher quality plastics. That's not to say Discraft is the best. IMHO Lat64 is even higher quality.

Explaination of my recent activity: My bag is/was up to 90% Discraft. It started as a joke, just to spite some of my friends that are hard-core Innova only fans... Jon H. specifically. I now have three Innova put back in my bag to fill specific flightlines. I simply just have not found proper replacements, despite buying/culling a few disc.

Plans for the future: I'm goin Swede, baby. In the next couple months, I will fill my bag with Lat64. I belive by making a full circle thru manufacturers, and molds... I might have a better understanding of all discs, as a whole. In the end, I may have the perfect lineup... for me.

I wanna do this too. While you're in Sweden, check out Westside Discs. They sent me 3 Northmen to hand out as prizes for the long drive competition for a tournament I'm running and I now want to go over there and get all the discs this company makes. I also got an extra one for me, I've banged this thing into trees, given it flights that should have resulted in road rash and gashes and the plastic is STILL brand-spankin-your-mom new.

i don't think he's going to sweden. just meant that as a figure a speech as to where his next disc selection was headed.

could be wrong, if i am, enjoy sweden :D

I know that I have a crap load of Innova in my collection and I want to diversify. See what else is out there.

I think a big part of it is two thing. 1) availability and 2) not being willing to drive a half hour/hour to a more serious disc golf shop. I have an hour and half drive for anything that isn't innova. 3) wanting to get rid of what they have, which is more than likely innova.

Innova fan boys are the worste, and anyone that isn't sponsored or trying to get sponsored that limits themselves to one brand is also more often than not annoying.

For me... the Swedish experiment didn't work out so well... alas, I no longer have any Swedish beauties in my collection.

I have friends on both sides - discraft sponsored and innova sponsored. neither is annoying and they know discs from just about every company and can usually help me find what I am looking for, whether it's from their sponsor or not. sorry you've found annoyances with sponsored players, maybe tell them they aren't the $hit anymore?

I started out 100% Innova, but have gradually found that Discraft does a better job filling my midrange and fairway driver needs (with Gateway filling in the other fairway drivers). Because the Surge and the Wraith are essentially the same disc, I've started to swap out the Wraith for the Surge (because I have so many) in the distance driver department.

It's been said before and I'm apt to agree: unless you're getting sponsored by a manufacturer, the best brand(s) to have in your bag are those that work the best for you.

To me, they are pretty discs and they are good discs, but nothing special. Wayyy overhyped. Not to say they are bad discs, just overrated.

no such thing as "limiting" yourself to one brand. Each brand has a wide selection of plastic to throw

As ZBoazMobster did, this year I experimented with Latitude 64s, except for a champ leopard 156grms and a star stingray 180grms my bag is full of Latitudes. Dont know what Im going to do with all the rest there just taking up space.

Yeah, I think it's mostly b/c Innova dominates local markets, therefore so many newbs grow up with Innova, but then they go to college and start to become Discraft-curious. Before you know it, their hair is long and they're experimenting with any brand of plastic they can bag.

I have been swapping out Innova for other brands because I am trying to build a bag for each brand. This is not because I want to then stick with one brand, but because then I will know what discs I like from each manufacturer. Then I can take the best from each (for me) to make a bag that works.

Generally we get "paid out" in the local tournaments with leftover discs or ones the proshop has sold/donated to the TD that don't otherwise sell in the store. Since I am unable to pick the prizes I earn when I "cash," I have to trade for the things that I want. These things tend to be in other brands since we get inundated with brand specific leftovers.

Don't forget about the ones that fall into Ultimate... there's no hope for them.

disc selection

I am very thankful to live in Orlando where the DGC is located. They are only 15 minutes away to I get to touch before I buy. Like most, I began with Innova and although I use Gateway putters, I havent found anything else I like better than Innova mids and drivers, both fairway and distance. I have used their discs since I began so I know what they do. I have made concerted efforts to get away from Innova but have always found my way back.

This is interesting though. Disc golf is still in the growing "childhood" stages as a developed sport (in terms of popularity) and as that continues I think less and less people will start with Innova plastic making other companies more competitive. This will benefit all of us!

OH EEEYEAHHHH

If you think the end of the line is innova discraft lat 64 you need to bust out the wallet and grab the other brands as well.

I generally carry a minimum of 3 brands discraft, innova, mvp...often some lat 64, gateway, discmania....

Keep plugging.
