Review by MannyGetYourFun in course Silverview - Old Layout

2.00 star(s) A good "second level" course for beginners, meaning there's a decent variety of elevation/terrain. Good mix of open and tree-lined fairways. Nothing over 300+ feet (except hole 8, a challenging but cool tree-corridor shot). Some holes make very good use of the terrain (2 through 4 in...

Review by MannyGetYourFun in course Rosland Park

2.50 star(s) Does OK with what it has ... -A good example of working with limited space, considering the park includes a pool area, playground, baseball field and tennis court -- on top of having some far-reaching paved trails. You're left with a fairly presentable course, which is a credit to the...

Favorite winter courses for MN/WI players?

For those living in Minnesota/Wisconsin, which course(s) do you consider to be your "winter home?" So far, I've just been playing Acorn in Roseville, MN. I'd like to check out other 18-hole courses, but I don't want to waste my time if they're closed or hopeless to play when there's snow.

Review by MannyGetYourFun in course Land of Memories Campground

3.50 star(s) The addition of 9 extra pins last fall transformed LOM from a 2 star to a 3.5 star course (in my book, at least). The biggest difference? ELEVATION. Granted, there's only 4 holes at the end which utilize higher ground, but it's definitely a welcome change. - Lots of distance on several holes...

Review by MannyGetYourFun in course Lochness Park DGC

3.50 star(s) Strong contender for best nine-hole course in metro area - Most nine-hole courses in the TC suburbs are crammed inside busy city parks. Not Lochness, an ambitious and well thought-out course that will make any city/park planner a believer in the game if it's done right. - Distance is what sets...

Review by MannyGetYourFun in course Chaska Middle School

2.00 star(s) - If you're new to the game or teaching someone who's new to the game, this is the place to do it in the SW suburban region. - Many of the pins are based on/around a large hill, while the remainder lie in a wooded area. This allows the course to have some variety -- including some tricky blind...

Review by MannyGetYourFun in course Hansen Park

2.50 star(s) Yes, we all know about the baskets ... - Excellent use of elevation. Fun downhill holes (Nos. 5 and, to a lesser extent, 11) and somewhat challenging uphill holes (Nos. 4 and 10). - The open and wooded areas compliment each other well. Like Acorn, every hole has a different look and feel than...

Review by MannyGetYourFun in course Acorn Park - Old Layout

4.00 star(s) OCILF (an Old Course I'd Like to Frolf) - Acorn is a shooter's course. Smart design and noticeable variety make it a decent challenge for players of different skill levels. Many reviewers have criticized its "weathered" attributes. But one positive effect of age is the refined nature of most of...
