    Discmania splits with Innova

That happened to a pro at the South Carolina tournament week before the US Open. Dude played 4 holes with a different ball than he had started with and took like an 8 or 10 stroke penalty. He promptly withdrew

    Discmania splits with Innova

I mean, that’s what he would supply to factories, but ok. Granted, it was an off the cuff conversation and he might need more info, but I don’t think discs are as complex. I can concede to your specialized experience though.

    Discmania splits with Innova

Alright, talked to my die guy. 17 years experience at burnstein von seelen messing around with precision metal castings before moving into the tool and die business for anything to do with extrusion etc. Showed him a disc, described the process and what goes into it. Given the heats (estimating...

    Discmania splits with Innova

The first two paragraphs are where it’s really tricky; if they copy the Firebird wing, for example, that’s going to be a direct violation of any patent Innova has. Since we’re dealing with Sweden/Finland, they’d probably more than likely enforce any patent time Innova has remaining on that...

    Discmania splits with Innova

The Italian plastic intrigues me; gonna have to get over disliking Jussi and give it a whirl. If they’re licensing the Innova IP, it’s probably a win for both sides. Either way, this is definitely something they were gonna eventually have to do. One wonders if, given what we know in this thread...

    Discmania splits with Innova

Yeah, you’re going to get into heat treating, which makes the molds stronger and able to stand up longer, but that also ups the $$$ invested because it’s another process for the mold AND heat treating itself is expensive and I think requires higher quality steel. I’ll have to ask our machine...

    Discmania splits with Innova

Honestly, I’d believe a couple thousand dollars over 10-20k. I don’t have experience in injection molding, but I buy tooling at my job for continuous extrusion. It all depends on the machine shop and where you’re shopping. Disc molds are also pretty simple, relatively speaking, so the buddy...

    Discmania splits with Innova

Ah, thanks! I do think they use the Destroyer wing as well for something.

    Discmania splits with Innova

Weren’t they also using some of the current production Innova wings? I’m 99% sure the bottom piece of the DDx is the destroyer wing, and the Firebird wing is I think the FD3 or PD or something?

    Brodie Smith PDGA #128378

Brodie Smith on Pardon My Take I haven’t finished listening to his interview yet but so far it’s pretty neat. He definitely doesn’t know the history of the growth like those of us who have been in but overall he’s portraying the super really positively...

The Inevitable 2021 Pros Switching Sponsors Thread

Can’t believe I’ve missed out on the good bbq talk! All I’ve really had are SC (native and back) and Memphis (2 and a half years) and I can confirm that Memphis Mud Style pork ribs are the best bbq on the planet. Ignore the SC mustard sauce, our pulled pork is good when you drive out into the...

The inevitable 2020 Pros switching sponsor/DD hate thread

If you like dry rub then you’ll love Memphis Mud mane. It’s both dry rub and sauce and it forms a perfect crust of goodness

The inevitable 2020 Pros switching sponsor/DD hate thread

When I lived in SC I’d definitely have agreed, but man, moving to Memphis changes a man...sweet heat is king

    2019 European Open

I can agree that AstroTurf tees suck. However, tees like these, with the sanded down turf, are incredibly grippy and wonderful. Having played on them at a couple of courses that use them (Langley Pond Discgolfpark and then Boyd Pond, where they used the same turf tees), they absolutely drop...
