    Favorite Ace Stories

I was playing a few holes to warm up before my first tournament and hit an ace. The AM2 payout more than covered the registration and fuel costs, a bittersweet ace.

    Favorite Shots

My favorite shot involves that uncomfortable distance when I can power down with a stable fairway driver instead of a full power throw with a mid range disc. To maintain the same form and timing, to release out of that same "keyhole" with only lowered speed.

The Newest Greatest thing you just figured out

I'm finally making a better percentage of putts inside the circle! The past few solo rounds I focused on quickening my putting motion: making the push from the back foot to the follow through seemingly instantaneous. Chains, chains, and more chains! I've had the mechanics, balance, and finger...

    Everything goes left now..

Imagine a left-handed baseball player swinging at a ball thrown just above the knees: he will bend forward at the waist and all of his weight will be on his left foot. In order to create that sort of extreme hyzer your (RHBH) body position must be similar to this. Have a friend record you throw...

    Disc recommendations

This is gospel. My first serious season (ten years ago) I could throw 250'. I remember having a Champ Orc, Champ Beast, Pro Starfire-L, and a Z-Crush in my bag! The first three on that list were of overlapping stability and the Z-Crush was (and still is) way out of my power range. Save your...

    Longer Approach Disc

Listen to this person. I wish someone would've told me to hold back on the plastic when I started! It's fun to buy new discs, but resist this urge as much as possible. If anything, buy more DX Aviars and throw them off the tee, on the fairway, and for putts.

    Discs for young player

I'm a bit out of the loop when it comes to the very latest discs, however, I'd recommend the Innova Panther. The Panther will glide with more speed and stability than an Aviar without a lot of power. It also has a rather narrow, thin and beadless nose which makes it easy to grip FH or BH. I've...

    The downwind putt

A 150-class (or even 165ish) putter works well if the wind is directly at your back. Add a little anhyzer angle and you'll get good glide without having to throw beyond a comfortable power level. I deal with windy conditions nearly every round since Ludington sits on Lake Michigan's west coast.

    Best Michigan Area?

I'm chiming in here a bit late, but Mason County is a hotbed for disc golf on the west side of the state. I'm from Ludington. Mason County Park- about 8 miles south of Ludington (The locals will say it's over by "The Project". This is a reference to the hydroelectric power plant. The entire...

The Newest Greatest thing you just figured out

I enjoyed a midrange/putter round today. I've always had a fairly consistent driving game, but the adage 'if you don't use it, you lose it' applies to all. I was forming some bad habits early on this season and once again realized the benefit of a solo practice round. Keep working on your...

    THROWING SIDE ARM IS STUPID!!!

Some effort toward accurate approaches with putters is advantageous. I can't count the times I've saved par by simply stepping around a tree with a more comfortable stance to park a putter using a forehand shot. Smooth and steady.

    touch disc

I agree with JR and marmoset. I saw how many people here on the forum were hyped up and ordered a Whitler upon it's release, and hated it. I just didn't have a steady enough hand to control it. Late this year I've had some great successes with the Rattler. With smooth, controlled snap, those...

the suns going down! Oh noes!!!

Most of us Michiganders keep on discin even with a few feet of snow pack. I make it out to winter leagues if I happen to have a Sunday off. Winter golf isn't bad with some decent hand warmers and good company. I tend to play a lot more computer games and (try to) cook more throughout the winter...

    does anyone else.....

I have an old mold old stamp Wizard for most putting (10 to maybe 35ft). For anything further that requires a little more float I reach for my Aviars. One is a new rubbery 175, the other is an old perfectly worn 171 that glides like no other. Yeah, I'm with ya 8)

    DG in a non-DG movie?

I thought I was the only one who noticed the discs in that movie. Good eyes! I thought that was a CE Eagle at first.
