If you're looking for a workhorse distance driver, I'd highly recommend the star wraith over relying on understable destroyers. They are extremely workable from 375-475' of power and won't get squirrely as quickly as pro destroyers will as they beat in.
Have you guys actually been reading the OP? He's looking for distance driver similar in feel to the Sorcerer. While I would normally be a supporter of discing down, I wouldn't offer that advice to somebody looking for controlled distance into a headwind...

I experienced the same during my first year playing. Keep that disc around. How far are you throwing now? While your form improves and the disc wears in I promise it will develop into a great flier for you :o

Are you looking for something that you can throw a wide line with and let it fade way back in?
Or are you looking for something that will hold straight in a crosswind?
My "OS mid" slot is only used for tight shots that need to hold...
