Other info
Background:
I was a long time ball golfer for over a decade (it just got too damned expensive). I had planned in high school to go to Cornell GA for college, cause at the time it was the only real landscape architecture program with a focus on golf course design... yeah I wanted to slug it out with the likes of Nicklaus, Dye, and Trent Jones....
About 5 years ago I had stumbled onto a DG course for the 1st time (WOW, there's baskets and tees and a real "course") and was hooked! When I found this site, it instantly clicked, because of my design interests, hence why I can sometimes be hard on my reviews, and tend to be a stickler for the amenities...
So far the course that have appealed to me the most are courses like Valpo and Manitowoc as they both have woods, but with the mowed grass fairways that make it feel like I'm on a (ball) golf course. From a design risk/reward standpoint, Winter Park is my favorite hands down.
As far as ratings, I don't have a set system yet, but go for the overall experience first, beauty second, effort (of course caretakers) and finally that last star for amenities. I'd REALLY like to know if I should hit the gas stations bathroom first....

Hello, Rocer. It has been a while since I have been on. I played in snow for the first time recently. I played at Sgt Means on MLK Day. I played at The Oaks on Feb. 4. I just read your message from Sept about playing Oswego. I am looking forward to hitting that joint up again. There is a new one in Hoffman Estates I would like to check out next time I go see my bud in Elgin. You must throw longer than I. You came within 25 feet on #4 in Oswego. I can occasionally get it about 300 or a little over, but not often. I am about 250-280 range if I get the right release. I have spring fever like you would not believe. Maybe some time in March or April we could meet for a couple of rounds at Sgt. Means. I will start coming to this sight at least every seven to ten days now. BTW, do you ever check out **** on you tube. My bud posted two vids of us playing. One is in Kirkland in DeKalb County. The other is in Streamwood out by Elgin. About to watch some Olympics. See ya.
