It was better with more trees 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 14, 2017 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

* Some nice long holes
* Some interesting holes
* Some good elevation changes

Cons:

* Small tee pads, some of them elevated so you worry about slipping off the front or side.
* With the removal of several trees (and the mando ball field) some of the holes have become very interchangeable.
* There are a next hole moments where it's really helpful to see a group ahead of you and track them.

Once a good course, now an OK course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 5, 2014 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

The course is well put together and in good condition. There are concrete t-pads, signs that mark where the hole begins and toppers on the baskets. There are maps as well at every hole, but these are not really necessary, you can see the hole from almost every tee, excluding the two or three that dogleg.

As others have already said, the park is often populated by beautiful college girls out for a jog, which only adds to the experience.

Cons:

There's not really any variety to the holes. Most of the trees have been cut down so you just throw it straight for the majority of them.

There's also a lot of distance between some of the holes, quite a bit of walking with no shade. You'll definitely want to bring a water, and put on some sun block.

Other Thoughts:

Not a bad course to learn on, easy to get around, but over all nothing special. If you're looking for something different, try Hoyt Grove (referred to as Couch Park by the locals), its a much more interesting course and its in the prettier of the two parks.

Boomer.... 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 11, 2013 Played the course:once

Pros:

Not a bad lil course. There first couple holes were really fun and got peaked my interest. There are concrete tee pads everywhere and tee signs that help with navigation for the most part. There are a lot of open holes that allow you to try different shots and practice a little. The elevation is pretty good here not only on fairways but on some greens which change this open course up a little. The fun factor is not bad here cause you can do just about any shot youd like. Hole 10 is fun to throw multiple shots and BOOM!

Cons:

Very open and not a ton of anything special here. Some baskets are in poor shape. Some of the pads are way short and goofy sized.

Other Thoughts:

Had fun and good lil course to play in Stillwater. I liked Hoyt a little better but heard it is usually in worse shape than we found it.

Alright 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 12, 2013 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Allows you to have some fun throwing your discs as far as you can. Seems to be a good course to start on if you are just getting into disc golf since you will be able to practice your throw while not worrying about crashing into a tree.

Cons:

Very few technical throws.
Can get boring to play after playing a couple of times.
Baskets are getting worn out.

Throw your arm out 2+ years drive by

Pros:

It is well maintained. Better than Hoyt Grove as far as that goes but that is the only thing Boomer has better than Hoyt.

Cons:

Lots of long and open holes. Very few technical throws.

It is always windy. It is also often busier than Hoyt.

Wind comes sweepin' 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 13, 2013 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

It is well maintained and allows for any errors (except for the previously mentioned water hole and national guard area.)

Cons:

It is WINDY. All the time. All. The. Time.
Very few trashcans and one restroom which is way back in the long course. There is a lot of walking to this course.

Other Thoughts:

They have been cutting down a lot of trees and it was already an open course. Therefore, it is losing what little technical areas it had but it is still a fun course to play.

BOOMER SOONER! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 15, 2012 Played the course:once

Pros:

Good, open course in a park by Boomer Lake. Always mowed and well taken care of. A few holes have really good elevation change. Hole 10 is 700+ feet downhill and really allows you to throw a BOMB! Overall a really fun course. If you don't mind playing amongst the cowboys, you're good!

Cons:

In Stillwater, home of the Cowboys. Just kidding. The only con I saw was some unecessary walking from baskets to the next tee pad.

Other Thoughts:

There are plenty of college chicks excersing in the park.

Signature holes over water and distance. Elevation changes.

Cons:

Not many "technical/finess" holes.

Other Thoughts:

The technical holes are really good ones, but if there were just 3 or 4 more of those, I would say this course could be as good as any other of the best in OK and any others I've played.

Challenging course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 18, 2012 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Great long distant shots, Water hazard, and usually windy. So the challenge is great!

Cons:

Some par 3's such as hole 10 is 729 feet! And the wind picks up a lot on some of the open field holes.

Other Thoughts:

Great course to play and a great challenge for beginners and pros alike

Boomer Lake 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 13, 2009 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

This is a really open course except for just a handful of holes. Even though this is at the lake, there are only 2, maybe 3 holes where the water actually comes into play. If you aren't feeling adventurous, the really difficult water hole (#7) has an alternate tee on the south side of the bridge. Few holes along roads.

Cons:

The signage tries to be helpful, but it is still confusing some times. I've played this course a handful of times and still have a hard time navigating it. The map isn't necessarily useful most of the time. Don't throw into the Army Reserves parking lot - you'll not want to jump the fence and they won't get it for you. The missing concrete pad for tee box at #10 makes trying to get 700+ feet even more difficult.

Other Thoughts:

I really like this course and it isn't too difficult for beginners. It could use some additional signage for navigation purposes. It's a nice, open, windy Oklahoma course.

Fun But Simple 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Oct 6, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Good variety of shots (short, long, tight, wide-open). Plenty of opportunity to air it out on some holes and some legit Par 4's for beginners. Water in play on only one hole (which is weird being next to a lake). Good use of elevation changes on most holes. The technical holes are great, just wish there were more of them. It's essentially the first four holes, the pond throw (#7), and #13 and #14 to an extent. Everything else is wide open lines and mostly in the 300-350' range with a few exceptions.

I recommend visiting in the spring when the co-eds add to the scenery.

Well maintained throughout the year.

Cons:

Course markers could use some maintenance/updating and the addition of an alternate tee/hole location or two wouldn't hurt. The baskets are well-worn to say the least. Several are approaching "janky" in status and aren't long for this world.

Tee pads are somewhat small at times and showing age with the amount of erosion around them. Careful at the end of your run-up.

The military parking lot is omnipresent on one hole and I don't recommend "hoping" you don't throw over the fence if that is an issue for you. Just lay up and keep it safe.

I find it a little odd that the "island" hole (#14) on a course next to a lake doesn't involve water.

Other Thoughts:

Fun course, plenty windy like most courses in OK. Challenging for beginners, but not overly so. Great opportunity to work on power on about half the course.

Very long! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 20, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Very long and open course. It is a great compliment to the other course across town(Hoyt Grove). Gives a player a chance to see how much distance he/she can achieve without worring too much about hitting a tree. Didn't lose too many discs after playing this course for a semester. Nice shot variety, distance, and all par 3's, what else can you ask for?

Cons:

The walk between some holes are too far. Designer should have kept that in mind. Missing a few tee pads here and there and some of the baskets are getting pretty old. The wind is always blowing out there, but it is with you half the time.

Other Thoughts:

Plays around a nice lake and it is usually always kept nice and mowed. Bring a water disc if you feel like giving seven a shot. There is an alternate tee on the other side of the pond though. Print off the map and bring if it is your first time. It helped me.

Very nice scenery.
you're located in a city park, however the disc golf course is only used for disc golf (no randos walking across course)
Good course if you can throw pretty far
not too busy.

Cons:

10 is a monster, and right next to a fairly busy street
rather than a great layout, they use distance as the challanging factor

Other Thoughts:

one hole shoots across a small pond (inlet from the lake), however there is an alternate tee box across the bridge

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 27, 2010 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Lots of parking and not really any wait to play. Good mix of short and long holes, with a good mix of very open holes and some technical ones. Nice Tees and baskets.

Cons:

Every hole is par three. So a roughly 275 foot hole (hole 17) in the open is the same as a 725 foot hole (hole 10). some holes are missing signs now and hole 9 is missing a tee and is replaced by a huge hole =/.

Other Thoughts:

There is a good mix of new and advanced players and by hole 16 there is a house that has free water and a siting area available. also there is only one place to really lose a disc which is hole 7 because its a water shot, but they have a alternate tee if you want to avoid it......most use the alternate tee because its a crazy shot.

Air it out 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 29, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

For the most part a very open course with few trees or areas where you can lose your disc. Good for long drives.

Cons:

Few trees means less shade to hide from the sweltering OK summers. No benches and rare trashcans. Hole 7 has such a small margin for error that the alternate tee is almost always used.

Other Thoughts:

Overall a very relaxing course to play. Not much challenge if you can throw it straight and far.

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 6, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Definitely had some recent renovations this year. All of the missing signs have been replaced with tournament markers that provide the hole number and distance to the pin. This course is very open and offers several long holes that test your driving abilities.

Cons:

Aside from the water hole (#7, which can now be played from an alternate tee), passing cars near some of the later holes, and random trees that seem to devour discs, not too much to complain about. Be careful when finishing up on the last stretch to avoid hurling your disc to the left of the course as it is populated with houses.

Other Thoughts:

Overall this was a good course. Don't plan on going on Sundays in the afternoon unless you plan on playing in a tournament.

Cons:

A few switchbacks from hole to next tee, hard to find the next one- Holes 1 and 2, Holes 8 and 9. Missing signs, Short tees,

Why is this course rated 4 stars?? 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 5, 2008 Played the course:once

Pros:

It has cement tee pads, well mowed grass and features mostly medium to long holes with not many obstacles but a good usage of them. One over-the-lake shot with a bridge to get to the basket. Has road OB, a few tight holes near the end.

Cons:

Incredibly tough to navigate- I spent more time figuring out where the next hole was than playing the hole. Tee signs mostly damaged, yet no one has ever bothered to put the hole # on the left behind post, or basket. One tee faces the wrong way and caused confusion, #2 backtracks back by #1. Not very challenging or technical.

Other Thoughts:

Needs some serious fixing up to get above a 2.5 rating.

Good course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jul 24, 2008 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Decent mix of holes, a shot over the neck of the lake, a couple of blind baskets, good use of the obstacles that are available, a 700' downhill hole that begs to be rolled if you're brave enough. Beautiful park, and lost of opportunities to rip some big drives.

Cons:

Many of the tee signs are damaged or missing making navigation difficult at times if you don't already know the course. To get to the 2nd hole you have to backtrack along the first, the tee is right by the parking lot. You also need to backtrack from hole 8 to 9.

Other Thoughts:

This is a very enjoyable course that isn't too tough when starting out but also shouldn't become too easy once your skill level increases. Bring discs you like to throw into the wind, because the wind coming off of the lake can get pretty bad. If you are in Stillwater and have time for one course, this is it.
