Pros:

Mechanicsville made a halfhearted attempt to install a disc golf course.

Baskets were all present and painted yellow allow for easier identification. They were in fair shape.

Park is essentially shaped like a square, so residential homes line the outside of the park on all sides. Residents were very friendly and receptive to me while I golfed.

Drinking fountain present

I was the only golfer present and had the whole course to myself throughout my round. Their were other children playing on the playground so beware.

Cons:

Forgive me if I sound like a broken record: This course sucks. I will not be back.

Virtually, no infrastructure exists of any kind pertaining to tee boxes, NO signage, NO labeled baskets, etc. To pour salt on the wound: the stakes on the ground that serve as tee-boxes are not labelled!

Cruise Park reminds me of a cemetery.

NO restrooms, but a Casey's is a couple blocks away

Stakes are in the ground that serve as the tee box identification. Problem is, the stakes have no labeling on them so you have no clue which hole you are on.

For example, I started my round unknowingly on hole 8, but had no idea I had played hole 8 until I played the next hole (9), which also lacked any identification.

I then stumbled upon another randomly placed stake that had a "1" on it. as if somebody stole the number off the side of a house. After playing hole one, I could not identify where the next three holes were since no markers existed.

Very frustrating walking back and forth not having a clue where the holes were located. Surely, added to the already poor experience. I wasted at least 20 minutes zig-zagging the course basically making up my own holes.

Other Thoughts:

Cruise Park is tiny and quaint area that offers a plethora of activities that are centered around the Disc Golf Course.

Sadly, the structure of the course is ultimately to the park's detriment. The tennis courts, a playground, a picnic shelter all surround the holes which inhibit the golfing experience. Such structures force golfers to either skip holes or take the chance of hitting someone with a disc.

Unless you live near or in Mechanicsville this course is not worth your time until major upgrades are made. This is essentially a backyard course. Imagine if you will, you had a large backyard that allowed enough space to put baskets randomly throughout the area without giving much thought to the placement of baskets.

All in all, this course is nothing to write home to mom about, in fact save your gas and try other disc golf courses along Highway 30, such as Tipton, Lowden, and Mt Vernon.

Pros:

Nice quiet park with parking all around the edge. Hole one starts at the pavillon and circles around the park. Holes are designated but 4X4 posts in the ground. Baskets are placed in a way that the trees add to the challenge.

Cons:

Super short course. Walking quickly you could play the whole 9 holes in about 15 minutes! Baskets are poor at holding the discs and are painted an obnoxious yellow. Most of the number plates are missing from the posts, but rather easy to figure out.

Other Thoughts:

Really this is a course for little kids I thought. A good player could bring a putter and play the whole course and probably get multiple birdies. Despite this, holes 1,2 and 5 are pretty decent holes. If you are looking to get in some serious disc golf, then don't come here. If you want to take your kids out to throw, then this is your place.

Pros:

Great for beginners or working on your short game, holes are as difficult as can be with the little amount of trees.

Cons:

Very very short, its the shortest course i have ever seen
