Lompoc Ace Run 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 23, 2015 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Short pitch and putt course located on hotel property in back courtyard. I don't think any hole is over 200 feet. It's a good warmup for nearby Beattie and Vandenberg courses. All holes are easily aceable with no real challenge for experienced players, but good putter practice. Good youth course or place to introduce beginners. The first tee is right out the back lobby door. As long as you had the courtyard to yourself , safari options would also present themselves. The hotel has a restaurant and bar onsite, although they were closed for renovation when we were there.

Cons:

No real tees or signs. There are small bricks used as tee markers, but they are less than a square foot in most cases. Navigation is a little tough without signs or any kind of won path, but its such a small course that a little time is all you need to find your way around. I roughed out a map and uploaded it under files, although the hotel clerk said they normally have maps available, but couldn't find them when we were there. The course is located in the back courtyard next to the pool and horseshoe pits and plays close to all these activities. The course is so small control shouldn't be much of an issue unless you're playing safari. Grass was really long when we played, but I would imagine they mow during season.

Other Thoughts:

The course is feeling a little worn and older, in fact the entire property is feeling a little worn. The hotel looked like it was undergoing a major renovation, when we got there. We didn't stay at the hotel, just stopped in to play the course. I think it would be great to stay in the hotel and come out and play whenever you wanted.

Pros:

-easy to navigate
-painted baskets look cool
-all holes are aceable
-not alot of trees but enough to make it challeging
-fun for night golf

Cons:

-alot of weeds and stickers
-tee pads are big square bricks pointing at the basket. they are big enough to put one foot on.
-wish they added a little more to it (such as signs, bigger tees, baskets having #'s on them)

Other Thoughts:

To be honest i liked this course. I have seen courses where they were like wide open, not fun, not maintained, even beginners dont like them, and baskets were stolen. This course was better than all that, thats why im giving it a 2.5 rating. Even though it was not a real ace, i got an ace for the first time on hole 8 here. This course is still fun though

The White Oaks Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Oct 13, 2008 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Not to many trees, but just enough to make it challenging. Its really close to my home, but I just kind of use it as a practice place.

Cons:

The tees kind of small, just a concrete slab. It doesnt have any green grass just weeds and stickers. On about 4 of the holes if you get bad throw you will look for that disc in some (yet). The weather in Lompoc is usually windy, but sometimes its really nice if no wind and sunny.

Other Thoughts:

Ive gotten an ace on the fifth hole it is 171 ft. My first ace and I'm only 13 hopfully somemore will come..
