Float the Illinois instead... 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 24, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

Nice baskets, the tees are clearly marked, map available, the grounds seem to be kept up nicely, and the store does carry a few discs (although I would not call it a pro shop as indicated; they have a VERY limited selection of DX and Pro plastic, I think they might have had 20-25 discs total).

Cons:

This is a pay to play course. They don't charge per person, and it is an honor system drop box, but it is not worth paying to play. No concrete tees, the tee box markers are narrow and annoying, the course is relatively short, and holes 1 and 9 are practically not playable due to parked cars and people.

Other Thoughts:

This is a short course, and might be cool if you were floating the river and camping here. Otherwise, I'd pursue a different course. I've not played the course at Tahlequah High School, but it has to be better than this. Civitan in Muskogee is WAY better if you can drive that far.

Pros:

Sits along the Illinois River,Great place to spend a weekend .Try Roxis right up the road,Good food,Full bar,Live music.
Golf in the morning,River Raft the day,Golf in the evening.Lots of Ace Runs,Some really decent holes.

Cons:

DON'T go on a busy weekend(I did on Memorial Weekend,)Funny stuff,Off the mini van over the tent,Just kidding,You can't play on a busy summer weekend,No way.And I DON'T like the wood stobs they used for T Markers,Very distracting.

Other Thoughts:

The owner WAS going to buy 5 more acres and add another 9.Don't think it went thru. It's a fun 9.Especially if you like to camp.

Pros:

Great Practice course. Every hole is a possible deuce. I've deuced 7 of the 9, and haven't the other 2 cause I putt like a girl. Challenging basket placements in an around creeks, fencing, and woods. Great course for beginners. Best score for me is -5 in 9 holes and -6 in18. Located in a camping/floating resort. Proshop with Innova discs and plenty of refreshments.

Cons:

Only 9 holes. Longest hole is 360ft.

Other Thoughts:

I can give pictures or a hole by hole review if needed. There's not too may blokes that play DG in this area.
