Fun and quick 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 9, 2018 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Good beginner course
Quick rounds
Well groomed park
A few cool uses of trees and bushes

Cons:

Very flat
City park

Other Thoughts:

Fun to play every so often as a casual round. Short course with not many long holes. Perfect beginner course. Worth playing if you are in town as it's pretty relaxing. Could be a good course to do an all putter round.

Simple Play 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 27, 2013 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Very easy to navigate and a clean area. There are a few challenging holes. # 3 between the bushes is fun and frustrating.

Cons:

There aren't a lot of challenges. Very flat. Course o's taken up by baseball and soccer at times making the last few holes unplayable.

Other Thoughts:

A nice course for the town size.

Big City Park 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 12, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Aces all over the place. So many and so tempting!
-Great signs
-I liked the first 3 holes and their unique usage of bushes
-Probably won't lose a disc here
-Natural tees but they are quite flat
-Nice baskets
-18 holes, most city parks are budgeted pretty low and are only 9 holers
-Clean, well mowed and maintained

Cons:

-Natural tees could get muddy and or rutty if it rained
-This course lacked elevation, very flat
-Not too challenging. Most holes were aceable and all were easily 2able. Not a lot of shot variety either, there weren't enough trees to make you shape lines.
-There will probably be many park users and you might have to watch out for them.
-I don't think there were any bathrooms.

Other Thoughts:

I don't have too many comments or complaints about this course. I have played a lot of city parks and due to the land that many of them have available, they seem to all blur into one. I had fun here because of a few unique pin placements and plenty of ace runs. There really wasn't much bad about this course, it is pretty average. I think that this course is probably the best in Yankton with Gavin's Point out in the Rec Area a close second. I would stop here but expect a city park.

I’ll Have Mine, Clean and Neat 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 28, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

This park is very clean and well maintained. This is a slightly better than a pitch and putt style course. The hole lengths go from 171 to 414 feet, but average about 250 feet. There are some nice pin placements, some light use of trees, flat dirt tees, nice tee signs, and a great atmosphere. Hole #3 throws into a horseshoe of bushes where the basket is in the center. A couple of holes are close to the water tower which was kind of cool. There was decent use of one or 2 trees to make some of the holes not too boring. The tee signs were great and you don't need a map.

Cons:

This is a multi-use park and it does get a few walkers. The course uses most of the park area, so watch for the people. Many straight shots and most of the holes are a little short to my liking. I never mind a few short ones, but there was only one hole over 320 feet. I personally did not see a restroom and this course could have used some more trashcans.

Other Thoughts:

The Fun Factor here was fair. There were enough slightly interesting holes to keep me somewhat entertained. I enjoyed enough of the pin placements to not get bored. The people around there were very nice and friendly. The use of the land was decent enough. By the way, this course is an ace runners dream. ;)
