Nicely updated, decent city park course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 25, 2021 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Concrete Tee Pads
-Nice Baskets
-Good Signage, Solar light on top of each post
-Nice use of the space with mature trees to work around and some elevation
-Mostly stays away from other park activities
-Park Upkeep is good

Cons:

-Holes #3, 4, 5, and 6 play close/cross each other
-Hole #4 does play near a couple of houses, way right
-Holes #3, 5 and 8 play across the park road
-No benches / trashcans

Other Thoughts:

Legion Park DGC plays in the heart of Audubon, IA. Upgraded in 2021, there are new concrete tee pads and new signage. Each sign post has a solar light on top (new one on me.) Some good variation to work around trees and up and down the elevation provided. Holes #3-6 do play back and forth and across each other, only a worry when multiple groups are playing. Three holes cross the park road as well, but the park was quiet on the Friday afternoon I was there, was not an issue. Past review has mentioned houses in play, but really only on #4 and way right. I suppose way right on #2 as well, but really not in play. Add some benches for a slight upgrade, but overall one of the best 9 hole city park courses I have played. I would definitely play again, if in the area.

Poles... 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 16, 2012 Played the course:once

Pros:

-A little bit of elevation in the park
-It is a course.
-Tee signs weren't bad

Cons:

-This is an object course. I just love chains. Like Martin said, this park would be a waste of chains but that is because it is very small mostly.
-Repeating what I just said about the park being small and somewhat crowded. May have to watch out for the shelter, cars parked nearby, children, etc.
-All the holes seemed pretty similar to me. Length and challenge wise.

Other Thoughts:

Bring your Buzzz or Roc and practice your approaches. You won't need a driver and putting is no fun with poles. I wouldn't recommend playing here. The state park nearby is better, play with a local tho!

Ok 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Aug 18, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

Nice tee signs.

Ace/Birdie Opportunities. Though I found it more difficult to hole out on a pole than a basket.

Amenities. Picnic Shelter, Playground equipment.

Some variety of shots required, a variety of obstacles, mostly trees and a picnic shelter require some line shaping (mostly I enjoyed attempting to throw through the shelter)

Navigation was relatively intuitive, the posts with a tee sign are painted the same color as the posts to hole out on, the next tee was always nearby.

Cons:

No baskets. I guess painted pole targets are sufficient for this course, baskets would basically be wasted in this space.

Short. Not much variety of length, each hole was 200-250 feet or so.

Other park user areas. If anybody was using the shelter, hole 2 would be tough, a few holes near some playground equipment, and most of the holes near/cross the park road, vehicles whether parked or driving are an issue.

Other Thoughts:

I guess this place would work to work on some approach shots, that's about it, no real putting or driving happening here. I'd find somewhere else to go if traveling through town, it's not worth the stop here.
