Par three course meal 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 24, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

-McMenamin's is well manicured and has a 'park style' feel to it
-Food and beverage on site if you're hungry

Cons:

-This course has no signage what so ever, if you don't know where to go, or have someone with you who does, it's impossible to play properly
-Many of the holes are near a very busy road, errant shots can potentially hit cars or pedestrians
-There seems to be a fair amount of foot traffic and people just hanging out in the fairways, unaware that they are holding up the flow of the course or that they're on one at all.

Other Thoughts:

- Not much here to justify a trip, If you're in the neighborhood and have some time to kill try to find someone who knows there way around.

2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 24, 2013 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Very Well Kept and Clean
-On the Bus Line Tri Met 57
-On the Grounds of A Great Restaurant and Pub

Cons:

-Busy with non DG Patrons
-Throws Next To Busy Oncoming Traffic
-No Teepads or Signs
-No Outdoor Restrooms

Other Thoughts:

Not as bad as I was expecting. I went on a Sunday evening and was really the only one out there. I could imaging though how busy it could get. I would certainly come here again if I was looking for a great place to eat and THEN throw some plastic. Its worth checking out if your hungry and in the area or if your making the trip to Hagg lake.

Pros:

Has alcohol and for the history buff, it is on the grounds of a former Masonic Lodge.

Cons:

Lots of people meandering through the course

Other Thoughts:

DO NOT go when they are having outdoor music. On a good day you have a mandatory route to bypass the diners safely on one hole. When there is a live band there is no route for that hole. And parents do not watch their kids so when there is live music you have kids climbing over everything all over the course and no one pays attention or cares about the disc golfers.

The Awesome Weird Lodge 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Apr 4, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

This is a funky place to play a round of golf but in a good way! If you are into drinking alcoholic beverages, cigar bars, food and other things involved in disc golf this is the place for you! It's perfect for getting your family and friends involved in playing disc golf for the first time as there are only a couple of challenging holes on the course. As stated in other reviews, don't expect a serious game of of golf here, but it still can be quite fun with the right attitude and people around you.

Cons:

It's not a place to go an challenge your skill at all. The place gets crowded full of people both disc golfer and non disc golfer when it's sunny and they have festivals and concerts and other gatherings of large people that make playing this course impossible on the weekends during summer months.

Other Thoughts:

This is a very unique place that even has a movie theater and rooms to rent on site as well as the mentioned beer. This is a great place to to take a trip or hang out with the guys as long as disc golf isn't your main desire.

Fun little course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 16, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

- Fun course with short and long (~350) holes.
- Great for beginners and people that have been playing for a little while. Advanced players might find it boring and unchallenging.
- The course is well maintained as well as the baskets.
- There are a variety of shots used throughout the course.

Cons:

- A couple of the baskets are rediculously high.
- The "tee pads" are basically holes in the ground marked by a couple rocks.
- Without a map the course can be pretty difficult to navigate.

Other Thoughts:

- It's a fun course for a quick round and only one or two holes require a driver.
During the summer there was a doubles event that was hosted by the lodge every other week or so. It was great for disc golfers of all ages and I think that this course is good for all ages as well.

Unique but not special 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 10, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

A great place to stop for lunch between Horning and Orcahrd AND get to throw some plastic
A unique setting for throwing some plastic
A good place to pracitce your "off" shots...like forehand, tomahawk and thumber
Nice baskets
A good place to introduce new people to the sport

Cons:

Not defined tees...some have rocks, some don't...some are a guess at best
I wouldn't want to play on the weekend...the grounds are for guests first and many of the flight paths would be sailing over or into people flows

Other Thoughts:

The highlight of the course is hole 10...you go up to the balcony on the end of the main building and launch down to a basket in the corner of the "backyard"...I had 14 discs with me on this trip and launched all of them on "hole 10"

It's OK 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:May 17, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

You can drink beer, wine, and mixed drinks on this course. In fact they encourage you to have a drink while playing a round of DG.

Cons:

-The dirt and sand tee boxes. They are not good any time of year, any weather condition.

-Watch out for people walking through the course at all times.

-Not a long throwers course.

Other Thoughts:

This is my home course. I live a short distance from here. On the scorecard, the distance is in yards. Converted to feet in the hole info section. I almost lost a couple of discs in the trees, scrubs, and bushes. Watch out for the restaurant and patrons on #4. On a couple of holes, an arrant throw can land on Highway 8 (TV Highway/Pacific Ave). Great place to eat and drink after a round, maybe watch a movie at their movie theater.

nice 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 15, 2009 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

A nice little course, a bit testing to a not-all-that-good player like myself. Not very long, but trees do come into play on most holes. There is water on a couple of holes, and the road and pathways can be factors, too.

Pretty well maintained, the grounds are kept in pretty good shape.

I've played only the first nine holes. There is a tenth, though I haven't played it.

Cons:

I have two main cons with the course.

1. The tees are dirt, marked by one or two rocks. The tee areas are worn, and on wet ground can be muddy and unstable.

2. Around the pins is an area of roughly three feet which is without grass. Like the tees, when the ground is wet this areas gets muddy and slick.

Other Thoughts:

It's a nice, fun little course, with some testing elements. A good one for beginners and those who are just starting the game. I hope they can put in some teepads and fixed the areas around the pins.

pitcher putt 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jan 19, 2009 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

*Well maintained and a clean Pitch N' Putt course.
*Baskets are in good shape.
*Hole #10 is fun as you toss off of a balcony.
*Course flows decently for the small space offered.
*Course maps/score cards provided at front desk.

Cons:

*Hole lengths are short offering only 2 over 100 feet.
*Lack of Tee boxes being only marked by stones.
*Majority of the holes run parallel to each other.
*Baskets 1,3,5,6 and 8 are close to streets/traffic.
*Holes 6,7,8 and 9 cross walking paths.

Other Thoughts:

Alcohol is allowed making it fun if you drink while you play. The lodge is beautiful both inside and out.
Close to Orchard Park and Hagg Lake/Sain Scoggins offering 3 playable courses in a day. If planning to play here it is recommended to call ahead of time in order to make sure no events are taking place. All in all its a quick spot to play if in the area of Forest Grove. (All hole photo's uploaded by me)

Not the worst 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 9, 2008 Played the course:once

Pros:

has 4 or 5 holes that might make you think you're on a 3 star course (1, 6, 7, 8, 9) in that they can be hard to par.

Cons:

Very present danger of throwing onto major road.
Danger of hitting kids or patrons.
Nothing over 350 ft. and most under 300.

Other Thoughts:

Worth a visit if you're in the area and haven't played a round in a while. Though if the baskets are back up at Hagg Lake, I would definitely go there instead.
Better signs are unnecessary and probably would not add anything to the course besides bewilderment at why they spent money on signs for this course that can be go better than what it already is.

Like Your Family Reunion! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:May 24, 2008 Played the course:never

Pros:

The lodge used to be a Masonic Lodge but is now a rental hall, hotel, and resort all rolled into one. The large expanse of front lawn has been partially turned into a disc golf throwing area. I don't really want to call it a course. There's a outdoor cafe selling food and drink. And there actually are baskets. There's a good chance there'll be a wedding party there too. Maybe you can get in the wedding photos.

Cons:

It's not where you go if you want to play a round of serious golf. The tees are semi-marked with rocks. I was mostly afraid I was going to thump some 5 year old on the head with my disc.

Other Thoughts:

The whole experience kinda reminded me of attending a large family gathering, and breaking out about 20 of your old discs and passing them out to all your relatives. One to Uncle Harold, one to cousin Pat, cousin Herb, one to your drunk brother-in-law, one each to the five year twins, etc., etc. And then all the adults grab a brewski and you all head to the lawn and you introduce them all to disc golf. And what surprised me here, was I actually saw some folks trying to play serious golf.

Pros:

Just above Poor rating b/c you are encouraged to walk around with a pint of brew in hand while playing this little pitch-n-putt 9 hole course. This is a joke for any golfer who is looking for a real round of golf. But heh we all need a place to drink some fine libations and throw a round. Fun beginner course with disc(s) provided upon request in hotel lobby. The 10th hole is a hoot shooting form the balcony of old Masonic Lodge around back. Great Beer, Great Beer. Did I mention they have Awesome Barley Pops on site??????

Cons:

Easy to throw into major road near course. Crowded on warm days with folks who frankly should not be throwing anything. Hard to see after a few rounds (of IPA's that is). Bring your ID, a Roc, and a sense of humor and have a great time
