Had fun with my out of state cousin and 6 year old son while we were on vacation in Hermosa Beach. Fun holes that are short but some have hills and trees to make for a decent challenge. A great course for a seasoned guy to work out his putter and mids alongside a person who has ever thrown a disc.

Complaints of shortness are weak... all courses are different.

Play in tandem with PFC Anderson right around the corner (5 minute drive)

Like everyone else said it's super short. The whole course can be played with just a putter. Baskets are in rough shape. Don't travel to play this one and even if your in the area I'd find some where else to go.

No clear outline of the course, had no idea which tee belonged to which basket.

I could not find a course map anywhere in the park nor on any website.

Caveat: Me and my three sons are beginners at disc golf and could not figure out the layout. No plans to ever come back.

Mills Park, along with Private Anderson Park, less than 2 miles away, make for a great little 18 holes of easy beginner disc golfing. Mills is even shorter and easier. The distances here range from 86' to 240'. One sign reads 56' but I believe that hole is a booming 156'. But these are fun little ACE runs as there is some fun elevation is contend with and you're throwing in a pretty little, green park.
The park is actually decent sized in a fairly nice neighborhood. It has a rec center, play area and picnic areas, rolling terrain and plenty of mature trees to shade all this.
The course features nice large concrete tees. The signs are old school fiberglass ones. Most of the signs are in decent shape. One or two have been tagged. It's the baskets here that have somehow survived the apocalypse. Someone has worked really hard to destroy these baskets. Almost every one has a serious lean going. These baskets are survivors!

One of the great little ACE run courses around. When combined with Private Anderson, bring a putter and a mid and enjoy these two little 9's. Super little course to bring a newbie or the kids.

All these baskets have not been bent over by children climbing on them! There are not that many overweight children in the whole of Los Angeles. I tell you, these baskets have been targeted by Someone or Something, much more sinister, more evil and foreboding than chubby, Happy Meal gobbling LA schoolkids. I'd be very cautious about playing this course after hours.

great park to play, as long as you do not expect long holes. i would love to see more people playing here. i have never seen a soul playing at this location.

It's fine if you want to just practice approach and putting.

Tee signs were useless, found ourselves replaying holes after realizing we shot to the wrong basket. Pretty sure all the distances were incorrect too. Plays in a very small park surrounded by roads with a play ground and basketball court in the middle. Could be difficult to play if people are using the other facilities. Would be nearly impossible to play for more then one group at a time.

Had some time to kill when I was in CA in February and this was the closest course. Definitely don't go out of your way to play here.

The course plays through a small but nicely maintained city park. There are nice large concrete tees, basic tee signs with hole layout and distance, and baskets in decent shape on all holes. The layout in intuitive and easy to follow. There are a couple small elevation changes, and they're used well to add interest to the course. A couple holes play through the denser trees on one side of the park for a little more challenge. This is a perfect course to bring someone to try out the game, or for really young kids.

The course is short and incredibly easy. A couple holes are under 100' and almost all are under 200'. Most play straight ahead with no line shaping required. A few holes play pretty close to playgrounds and a basketball court, it could be a safety issue on a nice day. Many of the signs are faded and getting a little hard to read. There are two places where baskets are within about 20' of each other which makes the course feel pretty crammed in.

This is a tiny, easy 9 hole course that's obviously intended for new players and small children. It's designed pretty well for that demographic, with reachable holes and limited obstacles. More experienced players will have no problem deuceing every hole here with a putter or superclass disc, there's just no challenge at all. If you're in the area and want to check it off your list, or you want to introduce someone to the sport, this is a fine place to play, otherwise don't bother.

-Sizable concrete pads/areas to throw from at each hole, allows ample room for approaches although it's not really necessary with most of these holes, which are for the most part under 150 feet.
-Minor elevation changes and obstacles that are used to the best of the parks ability.
-Lights!

-Some baskets are kind of....altered, however it did not affect our game. Some baskets had chains missing.
-No privacy, no bathrooms available as of 4:30PM on a Sunday.

Land available for the DG course is used as effectively as possible, and while the course was short, we were relieved to have a couple of throws over 200 feet toward the end of the course.
There was an 83' par three, come on now, really?
Keep in mind that on Saturdays and Sundays, the parking lot closes at 5. We parked on the street, and sure enough, right at 5, somebody came by and locked the gate. The park DOES stay open and lit up until 10pm though.
Tee signs were faded but readable, however some numbers were missing making it difficult to gauge the distance of the hole, particularly after dark. The sign for hole 8 says its a 6 foot drive, and its actually one of the longer ones.
As everybody else has been saying, it would be dumb not to play PFC Anderson park just about a mile down the road as well. We finished the courses in under a half hour each.

-Clean, quiet park setting
-Accurate signage
-Good flow. All tees were easy to find from the previous basket. No crossing fairways
-Good use of small hills to make the course more interesting
-Trees and well-placed baskets make for some tricky drives
-Solitude. The course was empty when my friends and I played.
-Close to PFC Anderson park, a similar nine-hole course. Together they make a fun 18 holes of golf.
-Plenty of trashcans. Very little refuse on the course.
-Solid, grippy concrete tees
-Picnic tables and BBQs to relax at
-Plenty of parking

-Short holes. And when I say short, I mean a few of them were 50' or so. The last few holes have a little more room to work, but you really only need your putter and mid.
-Basket issues. Most were ok, but two or three were old, shallow and dinged up. One basket (hole 8 I think) was in really bad shape. The welds had broken holding the cup onto the pole, leaving the basket to lie on the ground.

This course is a nice little nine-holer in the city of Carson, CA. It is very well manicured and fun to play. It is, however, VERY short. One of the signs said the basket was 53' away!
The shortness of the holes and the basket issues aside, its a pretty fun course and could help you improve your short game quite a bit. Worth the stop if you're in the area.

Concrete tee pads, tee signs, nice quite park that gets little use. It's fun to play, normally I hate short courses, but this one is so short that its an ace run on every hole. One hole is actually 83' long, but then there is one that's 240' or so. With OB's on some holes and slight elevation changes it's a good place to go and try to shoot double digits on 9 holes. There are definately worse short courses out there.

Some baskets are kind of jacked up, but since the holes are so short it shouldn't matter.

For what it is, being a dinker course it's fun to play. They didn't have much to work with at this course and they made the best of it. I played it twice with a mako, ryhno, and my putter and shot -9 both times without any aces Play here and then go play Private Anderson around the block.

Nice, clean, little park (one square block). Baskets in good shape, all tees were marked, although pics had faded a little. Relatively easy to navigate.

Short, so won't be a challenge. Distance on #2 is way off and baskets 3 & 8 and 4 & 5 are close to one another, which could be confusing.

I played on a Sunday morning and was by myself in the park. I can imagine it gets pretty congested in the afternoons. I played the 9 holes with a Zephyr, and two'd most of the holes.

- central L.A. location, easy freeway access and only 1.7 miles from a pretty good course at Private Anderson Park
- short, easy course good with not much else to its credit except that the number of 80-160 foot holes presents lots of opportunities for aces
- friendly place, it seems few people play DG here so the locals can be very curious about what you're doing
- pro and con: course markers are bleached, defaced or damaged so it's hard to figure out which basket to shoot for in this small park, since more than one is visible from most tees. That means there is often a selection of baskets to hit from the tee so it's easy to choose more challenging shots than the one obviously intended by the course designer
- nice concrete tees, too bad the neighborhood kids have trashed many of the tee markers while the sun has bleached the rest

- distance ranges from 80-200 feet, carry a midrange driver and a putter and leave your bag in the car
- mostly flat, not a lot of trees in the way, many baskets have a bend in their stem as though children use them as jungle gyms
- the park is small and they've made the best use of space available, so some tees are concrete diamonds added to the street sidewalk: look for tees on or near the streets that surround the park (one of them very busy but shooting away up a hill -- this would be a really bad spot for a left slice)
- only nine holes, play around twice OR -- see "Other Thoughts" for suggested combination play at Mills Park and Private Anderson Park (also 9 holes) which is only 1.7 miles away

Play Mills Park as the "front nine" then play the "back nine" at Private Anderson Park, which is only 1.7 miles away To get to Private Anderson from Mills, continue north on Central to the first stoplight at University, turn right, then the entrance to Private Anderson will be on your right before Wilmington.
