Solid Short 9 Hole Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 14, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

Course was pretty well laid out with very pretty views. Great for practicing midrange and putter shots with almost all the baskets between 180 and 260 feet.

Cons:

Lots of pokey thistles in the grass that gets stuck in your sock. Quite a drive out in the middle of no where. Lake was partially closed due to COVID-19 quarantine. Mach 1 baskets are not modern technology but are still playable if you are good at hitting center chain / pole.

Other Thoughts:

Overall a good course. Enjoyed every hole and the scenery really makes it great. Wouldn\'t recommend if you are trying to play to improve rapidly or playing for reasons other than casual. Go check it out, but bring water, snacks, and plenty of gas because it does seem kind of in the middle of no where!

Monument Ridge Is A Wonderful Little Course In The Eastman Lake Recreation Area! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jan 30, 2019 Played the course:once

Pros:

The Lake Eastman Recreation Area is located north of Fresno and east of Highway 99. It's a long drive out to there and there are no gas stations and no phone reception so be prepared to be on your own, communication wise. There is a $5 day use fee and they now have the machine that takes plastic. Not that plastic dipstick! The plastic credit card in your wallet!

The course sits up up above Beautiful Lake Eastman. The views are spectacular. The little course sits in this wonderful but small area where the park road circles around it. The ground has gently rolling hills and these great rocky outcrops.
There is a bathroom there as well as one picnic table under cover. There is a water fountain at the start and another one by the # 7 tee. They have crushed rock tee pads which are fine for these short distances. The tee signs are the long, plastic campground poles with the hole #. The baskets are Mach I.

The course plays at an easy recreation level, nothing over 300'. There's little chance of losing your discs and plenty of Aces opportunities. Most baskets are set up in the rocks somewhere so it really is a lovely course.

Cons:

Cons: Yes, it is an easy recreational course. It's not designed for serious players. It was built for the families that camp here.

Natural tee pads aren't ideal.

The drive up here, while very pretty, seemed like 50 miles not just 20.

Other Thoughts:

If this course was closer to any population base, it would be popular as can be! Families and beginners would flock to it and rec players would love it! Unfortunately, up here in the wilds, only a lucky few will ever get to experience it. I'm awfully glad I got up here. I'd like to take it home with me.

Monument Ridge Flow 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 7, 2011 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

-Plenty of Course Information provided on the board including Course Maps and Score Cards
-Nice Natural Tee Pads with gravel
-Good use of the trees and rock formations throughout the course
-Multiple Water Fountains and Trash Cans throughout the course
-Amazing views of Eastman Lake throughout the course
-Course has a friendly flow to it allowing you to shoot multiple rounds easily

Cons:

-For more advanced players the course may appear simple/plain
-Only one pin location for each hole. The course is small but there are several holes where some variety would be nice.

Other Thoughts:

Enjoyable course to play especially for beginners and players who want to work on their mid-range game as all holes are easily reachable from the tee.

Very friendly Park Staff at the Park Headquarters who are more than happy to help you with any questions you may have.

Well Done 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 22, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Nice info board stocked with pamphlets for the course, wildlife, and other things.
-Nice use of natural objects like trees and the large rock formations.
-Good flow. It's a pretty small space used but nothing feels too close.
-Good use of the little elevation here
-Large natural tee pads
-Very clean out house style restroom by the tee for hole 1
-A couple of drinking fountains and trashcans on the course

Cons:

-I've never been a fan of gravel used in natural tee pads. Can make for unsafe footing.
-Relatively short course (longest hole is 275)
-Not alot of variety in shots required

Other Thoughts:

This is a fun course found in the day use area at Eastman Lake. It's a beginner friendly course that will be fun for the hole family. A short walk from the course offers some pretty spectacular views of the lake. It's a nicely designed course for the space they used but I couldn't help but think in the expansive area surrounding the lake, there could be a larger scale course.

PS - I hope nobody in the family is afraid of crickets because they are all over the place, even on the car ride in. As you're walking some sections of the course they're just springing up all around you. I thought it was cool but I did have to remove 6 or 7 from the grill/hood of my car.

Fun little course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Nov 29, 2008 Played the course:once

Pros:

This is a fun little nine hole course on the top of a ridge overlooking Eastman Lake. The whole course has great views of the surrounding hills and the lake, along with the Sierra Nevada mountains. There is not a lot of elevation on the course itself, but there is a slight hill on many of the holes, along with some cool rock piles and old oaks to shoot around.

The whole course area had been mowed when I played, so there was no real rough to worry about fighting through or losing a disc in. This also made it easier to see where you were walking, and avoid the holes in the ground. The tees were large gravel filled boxes, and were in decent shape.

Cons:

Though the old oaks were cool, there weren't enough of them to provide real obstacles, leaving the majority of the holes basically wide open with only one or two trees to avoid. This made the course get a little repetitive.

Some of the gravel boxes weren't in good shape, and made for some treacherous footing. The animal holes throughout the course also made for footing issues throughout the course. In a few places, there were patches of plants that were filled with seed pods that stuck in clothes and shoes, and were very difficult to get rid of.

The course could have used a little more signage, as there were a few places that it wasn't entirely obvious where to go next. The tee numbering was only visible at short range, and a few of the baskets were tucked behind trees or rocks. This meant extra walking to figure out the course layout the first time around.

Other Thoughts:

This course was a decent little course that's worth playing if you're in the area, but not worth going too far out of your way for. It is pretty beginner friendly, with no real chances of losing discs, and no holes that were too technical, so inexperienced players could be successful here. There was not enough challenge to make it very interesting to many higher level players, but it did have some really nice views.
