Wiese Park is in the NE part of Perry, IA. The park includes the McCreary Recreation Center on the west end. The course wraps around this building for 1-4 then elongates to the east for 5-9. A multi-use park, the course stays away from most of the other activities except for the walking path, in play on several holes. The tees used to be off this path, but concrete tees have been added and the course tweaked from three tees to just one. Most of this was off the "blue" distances. New pads and signage are nice, there are even bag hooks on the back of each tee sign. The course suffers a little from the area. Flat with only some trees. Most of these shots are open and straight. #7 and #9 do open up a bit for distance, so you can boom one out there. For the intended audience (rec players in a small town), it is fine. There is just no pizzazz here. A course I would be happy to have in my backyard, but not one worth an out of the way trip. I might play again, if in the area.

Nice variety of shots mixing in trees and open looks. Compact course can be played in a little more than half an hour.

Tee boxes are marked with spray paint, and not all holes are marked, so you have to guess on some tee locations based on the maps.

It's a clean, well maintained municipal course. It's not terribly difficult, but it's quick and in far better shape than many small-town courses.

Overall it felt too easy. All the holes are pretty similar, but they do get a little longer towards the end. The could use the trees a little better, there's no challenging approach shots. This would be a great place to take a new player or go with female players as there are 3 pads for each hole.

The course is in a relaxed park setting offering mix of long and short. The park also houses the local Rec Center, with hole 1 teeing off by the entrance; the Rec Center has maps and scorecards and also rents and sells a few discs. A family could spend an afternoon at the park playing DG, grilling, playing on the play equipment and other sports fields. The course offers enough challenge for an enjoyable round by the advanced golfer, however it is evident the course is designed with the beginner in mind. The tees are squares painted on the walking trail that encircles the park. There are 3 tees marked in red, white, and blue. Most of the tees only lengthen the holes; however a few of them give you a totally different look. This creative use of the walking trail makes finding the next tee very easy as you simply fallow the path. The course was empty when I played it, however on a busy day disc golf could interfere with other activities like the walking trail and possibly a soccer game (although far enough away that it typically will not come into play). Overall this is a great course for a small town where anyone can learn to play and progress their game to an advanced level. I gave this course a 3 due to the fact that it is great course for its intended audience, very few courses designed for beginners allow the advanced player to have an enjoyable round.
