Bryan's Recreation Park DG Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jun 21, 2010 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Park is well kept, and isn't usually over crowed, except on some nights when the softball and baseball games are going on, as well as the occasional soccer practice. Course offers different types of holes from short, ace-able holes to long drivers. Definitely worth a round or two, even if it takes a little drive, and will be a fun experience for players of all experience levels.

Cons:

Can get flooded pretty easily and some of the trees are in just horrible spots, but really not too bad. Parking for the park is right next to the tee on hole 1 and I have seen some cars get nailed, so a bit of a hazard there. Overall, not many cons with the course.

Other Thoughts:

There are trash cans located near a few of the holes which help keep the park clean and most of the tees and holes are in good shape.

Still Going Strong 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 18, 2010 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Nice park that has some varying pin place ment and lengths. You can really let it fly on a few holes and theres a few holes that are reasonable ace holes for an intermediate player. Pins are in good shape and a there's nice map at the beginning of hole 1. The course has a nice flow for a typical nine in an inner city park.

Cons:

Soggy in the spring and fall. Watch for high water at pin 3 and tee off for 4, pin 7 and tee off for 8. It seems like just when the course gets dried up so the tee boxes are manageable the soccer kids are out in droves. Weekdays after 5PM in the summertime you might as well forget it. Tee signs are lacking.

Other Thoughts:

The locals tell me this was originally a scout project that dated back to the 70's or 80's that originated as a pole hole course and had a sign that said "GOLF CALIFORNIA STYLE".

A whole new course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Oct 30, 2010 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Great use of basket placement and trees make for a tough course ,were shot placement trumps over long drives .
Great tee signs and easy to navigate thanks to the red tape on the basket pointing to the next tee.
Number 6 is just beautiful and plays 598 though pines requiring a low drive and good shot placement .
Some great risk reward shots such as hole 5 a short 198' hole where there o.b behind the hole so if you give it too much are go for the ace run to strongly you can find yourself o.b

The course uses all the unused trees that the old layout didn't use and is a whole different course and the walking paths and soccer Fields are out of the way for the most part

Nine more holes planned to be added for a full 18 in spring .

Cons:

Tee's are just natural for now ,the park board plans on adding cement tees when the money is available .
You can go into other fairways on a few holes if you have a really bad drive as for now the park is never crowed and it isn't a big issue .

Other Thoughts:

The course is a huge improvement over the old layout ,and will challenge beginner and seasoned players.
there's great things in the works for this beautiful course
