Great overall design and variety of layouts.

Roanoke Park 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 18, 2012 Played the course:once

Pros:

The course may only be 9 holes, but the course designers did a great job laying the course out with the available land. This is a great course to learn at, each basket demands a different shot and will help you round your game.

Cons:

It is out of the way from most courses. If you are in the Eureka area, it is only 10 minutes and is worth the trip. However, to drive just to this course, it probably isn't worth it. If you want to take the kids for a nice day, it is a spectacular park with nice playground equipment.

Other Thoughts:

I wish it were closer, because I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the park. Nice place to take the family in the summer, and there is a pool right by hole #9's tee.

Small town niner. 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 21, 2011 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Roanoke Park is located in a nice small town park. It's well kept with a nice swimming pool right off the parking lot. It is an open course with scattered trees.

This is an excellent beginner course. I thought the designer did a really good job of using the land wisely. I threw quite a few different discs and creative shots.

This course has nice concrete tees that are level to the ground. You can run up from behind if needed.

The tee signs are descriptive and have all the information you need.

Cons:

2 of the Innova baskets had some problems. One had a cracked and bent basket. #5 had a broken inner ring. There are several chains not hanging properly.

The drainage ditch had some problems too. They are doing to some work to fix it. The middle of the park was flooded so you have to walk a little ways to get around. This is the first time i've seen it like that but beware that it might be muddy and you might have to walk extra. #9's basket was unplayable witht he high grass and mud surrounding it. After big rains water runs from surrounding farm fields into the park.

Other Thoughts:

Casey's gas station is located just down the street. If you aren't from the area Casey's is a great place. Awesome doughnuts and pizza.

Decent holes, unsafe layout 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 14, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

The course plays through a city park with scattered mature trees. There are a couple small elevation changes and they are used as well as possible to make the course more interesting. There are a couple holes that call for some interesting lines and make great use of the few trees.

There is a decent mix of longer and shorter holes without any that would just be frustrating for newer players. The course seems to be designed for beginners, and it is well laid out for that skill level. The park is nicely maintained with good signs, baskets in good shape, and well mowed grass.

Cons:

The safety issues here are pretty bad. One hole tees off directly over horseshoe pits, without too many options to go around. The one long hole tees blindly over the edge of a hill into the soccer area, then plays the length of the soccer field. It's way too easy to throw over the field and over the spectating area, if there was a game going on this hole would be unplayable. There are a couple holes that play near the baseball field and the road as well.

The course is a nice beginner layout, but for a more experienced player with better distance and line shaping skills it wouldn't be too much of a challenge. Most of the course is reachable with a putter other than a couple holes that are longer and basic multi-shot holes for shorter throwers.

Other Thoughts:

This is a great place to learn to play, and has enough obstacles that new players will learn to throw some different lines. Better players won't find it too challenging it's a fun quick round but not worth many return trips. It's not a bad place for a stop if you're in the area but don't go much out of your way for this one.

Roanoke Park 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 9, 2009 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

-Very nicely maintained park. Good grass, great signs (with map, length, par, etc...), and good conditioned baskets.
-Concrete tees and it's free. My brother and I were the only people who were there minus two cute girls trying to tan, haha.
-Nice variation of lengths of the holes, but most of the shots were the same. Get it around a tree or get it through a group of trees.

Cons:

-Doesn't cover the whole park. They could have easily added another 9 baskets on the other half of the park, and I really think they should. It has potential
-It doesn't look like there's a disc golf community here at all. :(

Other Thoughts:

There's nothing spectacular about this course that makes it stand out from the others. It's just another park with trees here and there and a playground and that sort of thing. I had troubles uploading pictures to the main screen, so here are some links for those interested:
