Not as bad as it sounds

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 21, 2023 Played the course:once

Pros:

Baskets are numbered with a fresh coat of paint

Several of the holes had markers for tee's.

Cons:

The markers for the tees were mostly overgrown. They were 5 bricks with the middle brick having a hole number on it. I didn't find 1, 2 or 7's marker.

The map here is a safari map, there is a little better up to date map on the other app at the moment

Other Thoughts:

Well, I play them all, I happen to LOVE small towns and small town courses. The more compact the park, the more I really enjoy playing the course. (yea I know, it's weird)

The baskets are painted yellow and very easy to see, the hole numbers are painted on the tops and easy to see too.

The tee markers on the other hand are hard to find, you almost have to step on them to find them as the grass is growing over them. I cleared off the ones I found the best i could with my shoes.

For the most part, it's your typical park type of course.

After throwing my tee shot for hole 3, I noticed a tee marker on the ground, after that I looked for and found all but one for hole 7. Hole 7 on the app has you throwing from basket 6, across near a pavilion and is not a smart shot. I have a feeling the "real" tee is probably on the other side of the creek and a much shorter hole.

Hole 8 was pretty close to the RV spaces. But then hole 9 tee shot was almost in an RV space across the roads. Not a safe hole for sure. But it was interesting and luckily no RV's were parked or in danger of my shots.

Would I play here again? No, but with that said, it is a nice walk in the park. The grass was green and well mowed. It's a good place to take a break. (note, there is a correctional facility off the main highway with 5 of the same type of home made baskets. I did throw basket to basket, but heard another player got asked to leave. It will remain an unlisted practice area and is listed in my unlisted course list)

Windy Day 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 7, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

As previous reviewer noted just having a course is a pro. Also there is nice playground in the park. Course is located right next to highway 24 and has RV spots in the course. Nicely mowed with bathrooms nearby.

Cons:

No map, no teepads, no signage, a lot of baskets are located next to high use areas.

Other Thoughts:

I played this on a windy day (20 mph sustained, 30 mph gusts) and it was rough. As previous reviewer noted there is no signage so I have uploaded 2 files, one is pin locations if you want to make up your own course. The other is a course I drew up. Any good disc golfer can point out the flaws but I felt it was good to get something on paper. I look forward to seeing a better player improve what I started.

The Tornado Round! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 5, 2008 Played the course:never

Pros:

For a rural community with a population under 2000 the fact that this course even exists is a positive.

Cons:

no tees at all. no course map. no numbers on baskets.

Other Thoughts:

Really had no idea how to play this course with no map anywhere to be seen and no tees of any kind. The course info on this page says 12 holes but I only saw 9.

Even though this is a mixed use park the baskets seemed to be placed in areas that weren't used by non golfers. This park is in need of improvements but I give the town people credit for having a DG park at all.

My round was crazy. Making up the course as I went along it was very windy. I saw my disc do things I had never seen before. The disc would be cruising along its line and then be lifted strait up 30 feet, cruise along that new line for a while, then suddenly drop 30 feet back down and finish off its original line! The last throw I made before bailing out, my disc was going along and then was suddenly carried at a 90 degree angle right and sailed 100 feet off its original line. Needless to say I retrieved my disc and headed for shelter. Sure enough, a few hours later the tornado sirens sounded in town and we made for the basement! We emerged later to fine golf ball sized hail. See the pictures I uploaded.
