Fun Little Park Course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 26, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

In my mind this is a typical little 9-hole city park course. If anything it is a little on the short side, with a maximum hole length of 281' and three holes less than 200'.

This park is covered with lush green grass. Sprinklers were blasting the morning that I played and the ground was almost squishy. There are widely scattered trees that come into play on a couple of holes, but they are trimmed way up and there is no rough or brush to deal with.

Many of the holes are straight open drives to the basket, though a few use trees to require shaping your drive.

Big parking area and restrooms near the first tee.

Cons:

No elevation or real distance on this course.

Tees are defined by a buried timber in the grass, and they can be tough to spot. The map helps locate the general area. There is not enough use on this course to even scuff up the tee pad.

Baskets catch fine, but one of them is comically low and several are somewhat low.

Pars are set oddly on the course. Hole 7 is a 253' Par 4, followed by a 281' Par 3. Hole 7 has more trees in play than the other holes, but is hardly Par 4. There are two Par 2 holes which is pretty unusual as well.

Other Thoughts:

Don't come here expecting a unique or challenging course. It is a simple 9-hole course that is fun and easy to play. Nothing more.

There is a Rules of Disc Golf sign near the restroom. The first item states that the goal is to complete the course with the fewest throws (without cheating). Nice qualifier!!

Pros:

Small park course, quick to play, tee signs that have par, hole #, and distance. Good baskets. Well maintained.

Cons:

Can be hard to find the tee signs unless your standing over it. Pretty simple beginner course.

Other Thoughts:

Quick and easy park course but they could use some small flags to mark the tee boxes.

Pros:

Don't expect this course to blow you out of the water, but for a pitch and putt course, it was quite enjoyable.

Tees. Level grass tee pads marked by a plank in front with hole number and distance, suit this course just fine, anything more would be overkill on a quaint 9 hole course as this.

Baskets. All in good shape.

Amenities. City park with ample parking, tennis courts, bathrooms, picnic tables and a shelter.

Variety of Shots. Holes 5, 4 and 8 are wide open and nearing 300 feet. Hole 1 is left to right bend around some trees, 2's basket is directly behind a large evergreen, 3 has numerous obstacles presenting an opportunity for some nice line shaping or an overhand shot, 7 is a slight left to right bend through the trees and hole 9 has a tree directly to the right of the basket.

Not Crowded. I don't foresee this course getting a whole lot of use.

Ace/Birdie opportunities. Every hole has a potential ace run or birdie opportunity.

Fun. If this was my local course, I'd probably go crazy and quit this game, but for a single round, it was enjoyable.

Cons:

Distance. Every hole was 2-300 feet, not much variety in distance, these distances I suppose fit the park, but it is large enough that they could have squeezed in at least one long hole.

Navigation. Though relatively intuitive (most tees are immediately next to the previous basket) I had difficulty in a couple of places. Hole 1 tee is on the other side of the playground equipment from the parking lot, just in front of the bathrooms. Hole 3 tee is towards the road and the throw crosses the corner of the road (I wandered around for 15 minutes until I found that one).

No elevation or water. They worked with what they had.

Other Thoughts:

If you're in town, check it out - I wouldn't go out of my way for this one, but a fun pitch and putt course nonetheless.
