Trout Creek Bible Camp is very cool camp with plenty of things for the campers to do. They include the usual amenities such as a gym, open field, chapel and then others such as two swimming pools, a zipline, BB gun range, archery, BMX track and more. The course plays in and around the camp, through the camp buildings, down roads and paths and through some very thick underbrush and forrests. I was able to play on a Saturday just as all the camp counselors were packing it in. They provided me with a colored map of the camp and course. There are small concrete teepads, tee signs with distance and par and benches at most of the holes. The pars are written with beginners in mind. There are a couple of severe dogleg holes. Most holes are overgrown and covered with disc eating ferns. Length varies from 161' to 375'. Even though it's apparent that this course doesn't get a lot of play, there are sitll slightly visible paths from basket to the next tee.

You will have to search for your disc on even the shortest holes. Every hole here is a blind shot off the tee to a hidden basket. This course would frustrate campers beyond belief. They would lose interst after the first couple of holes.

This is another great place for a course but the designer didn't take into account his target group which is H.S. and Jr. Hi. students who have never played. They want to have a fun, non-frustrating experience here in the woods.

So, if I owned the title of Camp Director of Disc Golf Operations here at Trout Creek, (Say, I wonder what that job pays?) Here is what I would do.

I would shorten the course by about one-half.
Make it a pitch and putt with holes from 65' to 150'.
Make every basket clearly visible from the tee.
Making the holes shorter with visible baskets would involve a lot less clearing.
I would definitly utilize the way cool tree house for my # 9 tee pad.

By making this a virtual pitch and putt course, your chosen target goup would have a much more enjoyable introduction to our growing game of Disc Golf.

It would seem that I was very lucky to get to play this course. It didn't seem that hard to me as I called and was allowed to stop by, but I think the fact that the camp was not currently in use was the biggest issue that got me the go ahead.

I had to stop by the office and let them copy my license and pick up a map. The map was really nice and detailed and in color. Course starts across from the Gym which is a giant barn and really cool looking. The course winds along paths between camp buildings and amenities. The holes have a good bit of variety for a 9 hole course, some long, some short, some rights and lefts and a couple dogs legs to boot. The tees are all decent sized concrete and have a tee sign with the par and distance listed. The course seems to only likely get cleaned up a couple times a year so it was a bit over grown when I played but none of the holes were unplayable. The over growth made two of the holes high pars a bit more fair. The course is a bit on the beginner side but still had some fun holes like #4 where the basket was heavily guarded by trees. The 9th hole brings you back to the same field you start in and has an awesome tree house off to the right.

The down sides to the course are that it plays near bunk houses and the pool and other paths and common areas, however I doubt they would allow you to play while the camp is in use so you would more than like have the place to yourself if you got to play it. If I was a camper I think i would greatly enjoy this camp.
