Scenic Lil' Resort Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 20, 2010 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Charming course built by the resort owners as a recreational activity for resort guests.

Probably the fanciest signage I've ever seen (photos to come). Flat granite markers with the the resort logo, hole #, footage, and local wildlife engraved in color.

Most holes are sub 150, so you can practice approach and putting.

Super friendly staff, let us on to play even though resort wasn't open yet. Didn't even make us pay, granted we just drove five hours to get there.

Resort is on scenic Lake Kabetogama, which is part of the National Boundary Waters and Voyaguers National Park.

Cons:

HOME MADE BASKETS! They might be the most unique contraptions in disc golf history. A single pvc pipe comes up about 4 feet out of the ground, and attached in the middle is a metal mesh wire basket that's about 10" deep and 16" in diameter. It's really tough to hole out from beyond 10ft.

The course is really compact and in the commons area of the resort. The resort owns a large track of land around the lake, and could add more holes or a new 9 hole track in the woods around the lake.

Other Thoughts:

It's a very family friendly track, intended for the use of the guests who may have never played frolf before.

You can rent discs from the lodge if you're a guest an intreseted in trying frolf.

It's a long drive from civilization, so stock up on fuel before you start up HWY 53. We almost ran out of gas, and there aren't many places to stop along the way.

Check it out for the views and detailed markers.

Highly recommend playing Side Lake, Hibbing, and Giants Ridge if you are up this way.
