Good, could be great drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 30, 2022 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

+Beautiful setting in the Swabian Jura on a steep hillside that drops into what was once a man-made lake. In the fall, the colors are out of this world.

+Terrific fun watching your disc sail forever on downhill and hillside shots. Holes 1, 5, 6, 7, and 10 are particularly fun for me (hole 2 as well).

+Round starts strong with all of the first 10 holes being slightly- to well-above-average in terms of fun and challenge.

+Good signage and baskets. Most tees are fine, with a few exceptions.

Cons:

-I wish I had played this before the trees around holes 9-12 all got chopped down. 11 and 12 in particular got massively downgraded when that happened.

-Function of where it is located and where the parking lot is, but all of the very steep uphill holes are in the back 8 (when you're already tired), and some of those holes feel very filler-y, especially 11, 14, and 15.

-A lot of tee pads are too small for the throws required. In particular hole 10. Hole 9's tee is very dubious.

-Similar to a lot of courses in Germany, this place has the space and terrain to make a KILLER par 63 or so course that would easily be 4.5-rated. Too bad they left potential on the table.

Other Thoughts:

Be prepared for a workout. Pack water. Watch for stinging nettles, particularly around hole 4's basket.

The baskets on 6, 14, and 15 get pulled in the winter, so it is only 15 holes during that time.

Massive rollaway potential on many holes. Prepare yourself.

great course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 9, 2012 Played the course:once

Pros:

Great course, long open shots, elevation changes, and upkept for the most part. Not very populated but as we were finishing several more groups were showing up to play. Good excercise walking up and down the hill, great area, with a nice view into the valley

Cons:

only 1 hole in the woods, could have some more, otherwise nothing bad.

Other Thoughts:

wear pants, there are ticks in the tall grasses. This didn't make us want to leave. I'd definitely come back.

Whoa. 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Sep 28, 2011 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

This course is amazing! I can't believe how modest the other reviewers are of it!

-The elevation changes here are incredible. The signature hole #5 is a 192 meter hole with a 35 meter drop. The pictures absolutely do not do it justice in the slightest. Watching your disc soar for what seems like minutes is unreal. The uphill shots are tough, but they're very fair.

-The clubhouse is awesome as well. Not many disc golf courses have their own clubhouse, let alone an awesome clubhouse that sells warm food and discs for cheap.

-Absolutely breath taking views. The ravine is huge. The trees are ancient and pretty as well.

-This course has tons of room for expansion. The whole complex is huge!

-The WSCA is the best disc golf team in the country and this is their home course. Therefore there's a lot of love put into the course and it's very obvious by it's lack of trash and good upkeep.

Cons:

-It's not open year round because it doubles as a ski place.

-No cement tees.

-I normally complain about crossing fairways, but the massive difference in elevation almost makes it impossible to hit someone. 5's tee is significantly higher than 8's fairway, so no need to worry.

Other Thoughts:

My new favorite course in Germany! I played the Weißwurst-Doubles tournament here and had a blast. It was my favorite tournament to date. 3 rounds of 15 holes. Breakfast between the 1st and 2nd round, cake between 2nd and 3rd round, and schnitzel after the 3rd round. Awesome, awesome, awesome.

Plenty of Potential 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 18, 2011 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Parking
-Course Flow
-Scenery: Breathtaking Elevation and views.
-Course conditions: Mown and maintained fairways.
-Unique elevation challenges due to layout on a ski slope.
-Hole 2: Elevated green, guarded by trees, with steps on hillside up to basket at end. Very nice.
-Hole 2a: Long hyzer out across a pretty meadow to pin guarded by trees on left.
-Hole 4: Short downhill shot to basket on a plateau, followed immediately by a penal dropoff. (Throw the putter, not the midrange.)
-Hole 5: The reason to play this course. 600 feet downhill, across the valley to the basked at the base of the next hill. You don't often get to see your driver in the air for 10 seconds.
-6a: Steep uphill anyhyzer, through somewhat tight opening in beautiful tall pines. *This course needs another hole or two like this.*

Cons:

-Signage not great. Print the map on the link to the review. It was good and very helfpul to navigate.
-Too many filler holes that don't offer challenge or maximize the resources of the unique topography.
-Tees: A few are dirt/grass. Remainder are brick and ok to throw from as a surface, but in most cases 3-5 feet too short. A few are tightly next to trees/walls and restrictive. Would like to see these tees longer, a little wider, and also level.
-Baskets: Not a matched set, and a few could be of better quality.

Other Thoughts:

I live and play in the U.S. and found this and another course to play while vacationing in Bavaria. Surprised that there isn't more disc golf in souther Germany. Beautiful area and folks there seem to live active and outdoor lifestyles. Somebody made a nice start with this course. Hopefully they've the resources to revise and polish this into a gem.

Pros:

Its in a beautiful valley in the Albs. There is a lot of height changes. The pictures are not enough of an experience, if you are in southern Germany you must play this course. Also wear comfortable shoes I ended up with a couple of blisters.

Cons:

The only problem I had with this course was the tee pads were not big enough.
