Not much to say here.

The entire sports area and the surrounding woods will be redesigned and the discgolf club is no longer allowed to have a course or tournaments there. The forest fairways will no longer be maintained. The baskets are not pulled yet, but it is only a matter of time.

It was definitly the toughest course in switzerland with outlandish forest holes, it's a shame we can't play there any more.

Reitplatz is a lovely, peaceful wooded wilderness area on the south side of Winterthur. It's a lovely escape from any urban environment you may live in. There are a lot of pretty tight wooded tunnel shots one of which is crazy long. There are restrooms on site and trashcans and benches throughout the area. The course interacts some with a sports complex but mostly stays out of the way of the sports fields. It appears that the fairways are very well maintained; much of the snow was off the fairways. There is parking on site.

The biggest problem for me was figuring this course out. No signs. No maps. I only found 3-4 marked tees, and by marked I mean that they have a plank of wood in the ground with no indication as to what direction one throws or what number the tee is. Baskets are not numbered either. The map on the site appears to be out of date as I found 13 baskets on the course (instead of the 9 marked on the map). Maybe the locals have figured out how to get 18 holes in on 13 baskets? There did seem to be some kind of progression to the course but the flow was pretty choppy and with no signage, it was hard to know where it was supposed to start.

Also, the baskets aren't in great shape. Many have pretty rusty chains and one in particular looks very sad and bent out of shape. They all seem to work ok though. Tees are natural and hard to find. According to the map fairways cross and using the same basket for multiple holes but as far as I can tell, said map is defunct. There's also a lot of elevation in this area that isn't used, which I'm sure is a result of property issues rather than being bad design. The elevated areas of Reitplatz are probably not owned by the sports complex. Also, there is a ton of space here, you'd think they could find space for 18 baskets! Also, a bit of a hike from the train station but it looks like a significant amount of the distance can be covered by bus.

It's a shame that such a beautiful spot is home to what is at the end of the day a pretty half-baked course. It's worth seeing though and if you get bored with the course, there's plenty of woods to explore!
