What To Expect: This small course is located on the picturesque WKU campus and offers a 6-hole course (currently 4 due to construction last time I visited) which plays between and around several of the campus' residence halls. Because it is located near the residence halls, the grass is always mowed and it is always well lit. This uniquely allows the course to be played entirely at night.

Amenities: Really no amenities that are disc golf specific, but has all the normal college campus amenities one should expect. There is a book store on campus that sells a small selection of disc golf equipment, but it was closed for the summer when I was there.

Tees/Signage/Baskets: Tees are small but concrete and honestly large tees are not really needed with the shorter distances of the holes available. Signage is solid, has all relevant information, a hole map, and directional information for the next hole, only complaint would be aging nature of the signs. Baskets are Mach 3's in various conditions, all are showing signs of age, they do not catch extremely well and some are tilted and no longer perfectly vertical.

Design: Definitely an introduction to disc golf "course" as 5 holes are under 300 feet and the 6th is just over 400 ft and downhill. 5 of the 6 holes are designed for the right hand back hand hyzer. Little to no actual trouble to be found outside of OB sidewalks, buildings, and possible pedestrians. No real elevation changes to speak of. Simple design meant to be played quickly and with easily obtainable success.

Navigation: There are a few long walks between holes but the tee signs and hole number plates on the top of baskets make navigation really quite easy.

Conditions: Course is well mowed, no underbrush, no wild animal risk, no poison plants to worry about. Very simplistic layout with well defined fairways.

Missing Baskets: There were only 4 playable holes (due to construction) when I played it last, and even in full layout, only 6 holes. Doesn't really feel like full course.

Short Holes: With 5 holes under 300 feet this course really doesn't give you a chance to air anything out.

Parking: Parking on campus can be maddeningly frustrating as you have to find the very small no-permit parking spots, which are few and far between.

Pedestrians: Do not attempt to play while school is in session. I can only imagine how crazy that could be.

I would consider this a practice area more than a course. It is intended to be an introduction to disc golf for campus students, and not taken as a serious course. There are too many solid courses in Bowling Green to concern yourself with this one unless you wanted to play a night round under the lights or attend the university. However, they do have an Urban temp course tournament set up throughout the campus that is loads of fun to play each summer that might peak your interest in traveling to play.

With a good course map and informative signage, the six DGA baskets on this busy campus setting are arranged so that no shot has to go across a walkway. With distances ranging from 177 to 411 feet, there are some challenges out here for the casual to recreational player for whom the course was built. Park-like trees and gently rolling terrain mean you'll need to make a decision or two for most of your tee shots. Being on a nice college campus means consistent maintenance and cleanliness. And if you play here on a warm, sunny spring day, there are bound to be any number of distractions to turn a young man's focus off his game.

Lacking in formal tee pads, and with only room for six adequately challenging holes, this course will not get much play by 'serious' disc golfers. Because it is on campus, you'll have to pay attention to pedestrians and the oblivious, and a couple of the holes do risk building hits for overzealous drives, which could result from the unpredictable wind patters amongst the buildings.

The course flow gets a little awkward between holes four and five despite the sign suggesting you walk around the building to the left. Check the map: it's quite a hike.

Nothing but a curiosity: when I visited this campus, I had an all-white squirrel cross my path. My daughter went to Bowling Green, Ohio for school, where they have a number of rare all black squirrels!

The course plays between residence halls on the WKU campus. There are some scattered trees and ob sidewalks as obstacles. The grass was nicely mowed, and the grounds were well kept in general. A minor elevation change comes into play on one hole, adding a bit of downhill fun. The baskets are in good shape, and the natural tees are flat and not rutted out. The signage is good at the tees and where there are walks between holes, no problems navigating the course.

The course is very short and easy, simple hyzers suffice for all the holes and there isn't much distance. That's great for between classes and introducing new players to the sport, the course is perfect for it's intended audience, I just rate all courses based on the same criteria. There are some potential safety issues, with sidewalks, buildings and a road in play, all of which could be exacerbated by less skilled players who are more likely to spray shots in unintended directions. Parking can be a mess without a university pass, it's easier to play this one on a weekend.

I love seeing campus courses that offer approachable holes for beginners and a quick layout that's playable between classes. New players will find enough obstacles to make it interesting, but no really tough shots or rough to frustrate less accurate throwers. More experienced players won't find much challenge, every hole is birdieable with just a putter and maybe a mid. This is a great place to try out the sport and learn how to play before taking on the other, more challenging courses in town.

Only 6 holes with only one being a challenge to get a birdie. Very short and parking is horrible if you dont go to WKU. Many pedestrians walk on or near the course. LARPers use hole 2 on Sunday to duel or whatever.

Good for your first time playing and for the space. Not really the best spot for it and not worth your time. One of the few courses to skip in BG.

The WKU course has nice signs and excellent new baskets. Each tee sign indicates where to go for the next hole as some of the tees are not visible from the previous baskets. Course is short with five of the six holes at less then 300 feet and one downhill hole over 400 ft. This course is geared towards the college kids that go to school there and is a good learner course. One of the on-campus or near campus book stores sells discs which can only further encourage people to start playing here. There is nice usage of the existing trees and the minor elevation changes here. The grass is always excellently manicured and there is a minimal of underbrush or a rough for that matter. The course is designed for a right-hand, back-hand player in mind as there is only one turnover shot with the rest being straight to slight hyzer shots. Though I played this course during the day, there are plenty of surrounding lights so that it can be played at night without a flashlight or LEDs.

The tee pads are all natural and will/have become all muddy from extended use and inclement weather. Several of the holes play directly next to walking paths and residence halls which can lead to safety issues for non-players. Also next to number 6's fairway is a parking lot and next to number 5's fairway is a very busy road that is well within reach of an errant drive. Several of the holes play up towards several residence halls (numbers 1 and 4) which may lead to broken windows or eaten up discs. There is a very long walk from number 4's basket to number 5's tee but there is a directional sign leading the way. Parking will be an issue if you do not have a WKU parking pass.

With the chance of pedestrians and the lack of parking, consider playing this course in the evenings/nights or on the weekends when these will be at a minimum. Parking is accessible along the street behind number two's basket and across the road from number 4's tee in the elementary school lot. This would be a great course to bring a newer less skilled player to to learn several valuable shots and control on. Course plays very quick for more skilled players (approximately 20-25 minutes) and provides many birdie opportunities.

I play this course about once a day and it is a good practice/beginner course. There is only one long hole at 411 ft but that is not too long that the average player cant get a 3. There are many ace holes that are fun to go at. You can play this course at night and there is hardly anyone on the course that keeps you from playing it.

The cons are some of the pros also. The course is long so if your looking for somewhere to practices your drives this course is not the one for you. Also there are only six holes and as everyone else has said hurts the course. If there were three more holes this would be a great nine hole course.

I love playing this course and working on all my shots. Very accessable to the community and also to all the students who live on campus and play.

Located on a picturesque campus, the Western KY University DGC offers a 6-hole course which winds around several of the campus's residence halls. The course begins at PFT the tallest building on campus (and in Bowling Green). Because it is located near the residence halls, the grass is always mowed and it is always well lit. This allows the course to be played entirely at night without the use of glow discs or LEDs.

The course has virtually no rough and makes use of trees, buildings, and sidewalks as obstacles. WKU DGC is geared for beginners, but also offers a couple of challenges for the experienced player. There are technical challenges as well as a distance challenge on #5. Also, be careful not to throw your disc into on coming traffic on fairway #5. Other hazards include brick buildings, windows, disc-scuffing sidewalks, and the occasional pedestrian. Parking is difficult when school is in session; therefore, I recommend playing this course in the summer. If you do not have a parking pass, you may park on the street near basket #2. WKU DGC offers a lot of variety for a 6-hole course. It is both fun and unique, especially at night.

The disc golf couse on campus at WKU is a nice, well-kept course with great tee signs, level grass tee areas, and Mach3 baskets that are in excellent condition. The course is short, simple, and the well-defined fairways are easy to navigate. Maintenance on the course is fantastic, as it appears the campus grounds are well cared for. There is no underbrush, poison oak/ivy, or anything like that to speak of. With limited space, the design offers a good variety in length spanning from 170ft to over 400ft. The holes are laid out around and between several of the buildings on campus with minimal elevations. The course will not provide much challenge for any experienced player, but is great for beginners and children that may have trouble lasting throughout a full 18 holes.

Parking was a little bit of an issue. I had trouble finding non-permit parking near the first hole. I ended up parking along the street near the tee for hole 4, which worked out okay. The buildings will not be an issue for experienced players, but kids and newer players with limited control may need to keep this in mind in a couple of areas as there are several windows that can be hit.It would really be nice to see a few more holes added to at least make this a 9-hole course.

I always try to consider design intent of a course. This course was obviously not intended to compete with some of the other local area courses, as Bowling Green has several great 18 hole courses. The design is geared more toward introducing new players to the game or maybe they even have a class where students are introduced to disc golf. With these things in mind, it really is a great little course. If you live in the area, it's a great place right in town to practice some mid-range shots and putting in a very short period of time. If you are coming to this area to play some new courses, and you are somewhat limited on time, I would probably just skip this one and check out some of the other great courses in the area.

Nice 6-hole setting on Western Kentucky's campus. Plays in nice grassy areas, around trees, between buildings. Sweet for the college kids.

Course is good if you want to shoot under par and/or play a very quick round.

The best <9 hole course I have played, and better than some 9 holers.

The biggest con for me (and the reason for the lower rating) is that there is only 6 holes. If only there were 12 more in the style of the 6...

I have played it once and had fun, but probably would not consider it worth my time and effort to play it again as it takes more time to get there and park than it does to play it, and with so many other great courses in Bowling Green to choose from it definitely gets overshadowed.

The holes are relatively short. Ace runs and birdie opportunities for any experienced player.

I have heard that the locals play more holes around campus- object style, but it seems you would have to find somebody locally to show you around as the course map on site and online only show the 6 holes with baskets.
