A Meadow All Grown Up 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 18, 2021 Played the course:once

Pros:

(2.521 Rating) A mix of park style and young woods play.
- NATURAL BEAUTY - This place has some genuine Wisconsin charm to it. The first two holes are pleasant park style shots. Then (3) and (4) add some nice sweeping elevation change to the park style element. Then holes (5) thru (7) are rather exotic looking, playing through a maturing prairie that's sporting 30 and 40 foot tall trees now. Because of this 3 hole stretch, I basically rated the beauty here about the same as it's 18 hole counterpart.
- HOLE VARIETY - I scored this aspect around average, but for a niner, it's really good. Good hole length variation from sub 200 to almost 400. The soft par figures indicate par 4s and even 5s. Considering the constricted fairway widths, only hole (7) will feel like a multi-play fairway to those with Intermediate level skills and under. I liked the weaving in and around the trees, the tunnel fairways and the pocket plays. There is some modest rolling elevation present and its used well.
- CHALLENGING - This place feels like a great test for Rec and Intermediates when ignoring the par figures. Precision will be the biggest key on being able to go low, but having at least 300 foot power will be critical as well.
- 27 HOLE LOOP - After hole (1) on this layout, players have an option of either proceeding to hole (2) or going to hole (12) on the neighboring 18 hole course. It's a seamless way to play 27 holes. I'm going to guess however, that most people playing 27 holes start from the other course.
- BASIC AMENITIES - Concrete tees and Mach III baskets. Par for the course.
- NAVIGATION - Ok I guess. I don't recall seeing a course map, but once finding (1) from the parking area, getting around wasn't too terrible. Next tees are generally close to the preceding basket or there's an intuitive path. I suppose someone not paying attention could make a wrong turn.

Cons:

A very good niner that can reach out and bite you.
- OVERGROWTH - I missed the fairway pretty bad on (5) and spent more than 5 minutes looking around for my yellow disc. Discs are going to get swallowed up and lost on a few holes here during the summer for sure. The fairways are super tight in the middle portion of the course. 15-foot wide throwing lanes are present on three holes and they have large thick bushes and tall grasses flanking both sides of the fairway. Players may find themselves throwing lay-up putter shots a few times rather than risk losing a disc by gunning for the basket with drivers.
- MOSQUITOS AND POISON IVY - I don't take off points for this, but man I wish I had deeted up before heading out for this trip as I got eaten up pretty good here and two other courses. I spotted poison ivy several times in the overgrowth too.
- BEGINNER FRIENDLY - Considering the above two cons, I would not bring a beginner. Not only will they likely throw one of your discs into the thicket, but they will likely bitch and complain about the tall grasses and bugs the entire time. Considering I had just traveled from the nearby Telulah course, I'd say that that's a much better beginner option.
- SIGNAGE - At first sight, I thought the tee signs were really good, but they are not. There is seemingly an artistic description of the line, but in reality, it's just a generic image. The only useful info on the tee signs here and the neighboring 18-hole course is the hole number and distance.
- EXTRAS - The course does not have extra tees, alt placements or a practice basket. I did appreciate all the benches though. Restrooms and shelters are in the park too.
- TIME PLAY - For a niner, this one took pretty long. I had a couple of protracted searches to find discs and the layout is not a dinker length. It took me 45 minutes solo to play this one.

Other Thoughts:

This is a high quality nine hole course. It has most of the aspects I look for, from beauty, to variety and to challenge. I enjoyed being able to sit down too... for a second, and then jump up and wish that I had grabbed the bug spray out the door. It's cool that this park has some extra holes and all, but this extra nine seemed aimed at a similar skill level and was of a similar style as the other course. I think the course would really benefit by adding some short or long tees on a few holes and correcting the par figures. I think the locals would enjoy some alt placements as well to spice it up. Regardless, I'm personally marking this one down as a 90 percentile niner. Just outside my top ten.

Good 30 minute or add-on course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 28, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

Since this is being treated as a separate course , then I am going to grade it as such . It sits more in the middle of the park , where there might be slightly more picnic goers and free lance walkers . There is plenty of parking available in all of the park , but if you are accessing this from the 18 holer , then pick it up starting with hole 2 , from the 11th hole of the 18 holer . The course goes clockwise around a perimeter of the park . It starts out somewhat open , throwing 200' under a canopy of trees . The next hole is 100' longer and more wide open . The course will propel you into a tighter section of holes after #4, which is a 200 foot dogleg left and a pretty easy hole . #5 can put you into some trouble throwing downhill into a gully with high grass on both sides and some protection in front of the hole . My signature hole would be #7 , a 400 foot risk reward shot with a fairway area about 250' out where you can lay your drive down , then cover the final 150' on your approach . It is pretty narrow and the wind can catch you disc and throw it into the bushes if you falter . The last 2 holes are <300 footers that will take you right back to #1 . A pretty quick round if played by itself and you don't have to look for your disc on 5 or 7 . Good grippy concrete tee pads , baskets in good shape , and very easy to follow .

Cons:

Same goofy signs as the 18 holer . Not challenging for the better players . Can lose a disc or spend a lot of time searching for yours on 5 ,6 ,or 7 . Can have some kids from one of the shelter houses wander out on hole #1 or 9 , especially . Not as crowded as the 18 holer , as some of those will skip this part .

Other Thoughts:

I would personally play this as additional 9 added onto my 18 hole course each time , but if you are pressed for minutes and have to be back home in an hour then , by all means hit this for a short round . The fun factor in the Meadowview 9 makes it just as appealing , so do yourself a favor and play these holes .

Fun Extra 9 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:May 16, 2016 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

- Nice shot variety/contrast with Apple Creek 18
- Concrete tee pads and baskets in good condition
- Plays well as a stand-alone, quick 9-hole course or an easily accessed additional 9-hole loop to the Plamann 18-hole course

Cons:

- Long grass and thick rough through the middle section of the course will eat errant throws and require a lot of time searching for discs
- No helpful fairway geometry/pin location on tee signs
- Hole 1 feels like a filler hole

Other Thoughts:

The Plamann Meadowview 9 is an interesting course; it and its 18-hole brother could probably be listed as a single, 27-hole course with an optional 9-hole loop. Viewed this way, these 9-holes add some tighter, more technical lines to the generally more open holes from Apple Creek. Holes 5-7 in particular offer tight lines with more punishing rough not seen through most of the 18-hole course. I'd say you might even have an easier time shooting under par on Apple Creek than Meadowview, despite its short length.

There is nothing spectacular here, but with the exception of Hole 1, there are no bad holes either, and it certainly is a fun loop. It is nice to have the option to play 9, 18, or 27 holes of good disc golf given one's available time. These 9 holes complement the other 18, and you would be doing yourself a disservice if you skip these holes while coming out to play Plamann.

Solid 9 hole add-on 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 26, 2014 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Nine holes that can either be played by themselves, or as a split into the 18 hole course adjacent.

One grippy, concrete tee pad per hole. Plenty long enough and rectangular. All were in good shape.

Solid DGA baskets, all in good repair, and caught as well as you'd expect. There's a couple blind-ish holes that would do well to have some sort of flag or distinguishing feature on the baskets. One pin placement per hole.

Navigation was pretty simple, as the course makes a nice loop from the parking lot and back.

A decent amount of challenge here, especially for a 9 hole layout. The more open holes at least require different lines, from straight, to anny, to big hyzer. Hole 8 is a nice s-curve type hole that will test you. A few meadow type holes in the middle will test accuracy, especially with long grass on both sides. Hole 5 is an especially nice hole, that requires good accuracy from the tee.

Cons:

The meadow grass on holes 5-7 can be a pain in the arse. The undergrowth is heavy, as well. We spent a good deal of time searching for a shot 20' from the basket on 5, as it was barely visible under a very little amount of shule.

The tee signs, while visually appealing, do little more than tell you what hole you're on and its distance. On most holes it's not a problem, but there are a couple blind holes that will have you walking to scout.

This place can get very busy, but not quite as bad as the adjoining 18.

Other Thoughts:

This is really a solid course, especially for 9 holes. Pretty much every hole has its own personality, which is very nice. It you're playing it from the 18, you'll hop onto hole 2 from hole 11 on the previous course. Easy peasy.

The baskets are only in from spring-fall, so don't make the mistake of coming here in the winter. All in all, you're kind of cheating yourself if you play the 18 and don't give this course a run.

Decent course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Aug 13, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

Clean well kept course
Nice layout of open fairways and wooded technical.
concrete pads
plenty of parking
easy to get to
fun course with plenty of ace runs

Cons:

Every 16-20 year old in the greater Appleton area seem to live the course. Most play with just a few discs and have terrible language and knowledge of the game. Have had numerous rounds where we were played into or denied the ability to play through.
This is a fun course but not very challenging. I would consider it a warm up course to get the rust off.
Terrible tee markers with very generous pars.

Other Thoughts:

This is a fun 18 hole course that I enjoy playing as it is close to home. I encourage anyone who does not want to deal with crowds to play before noon. It is not very challenging and when it is not crowded I can get through 18 holes in just over an hour.
Very well maintained and a pleasant area.
Update 9/2014
I have played this course about three times per week since my original review. I play between 9-11AM. I have found myself really enjoying the course, the green, and the peace in the morning. Low traffic during this time of the day allowing me to test out new discs. If I were to review the course during this time of the day I would give it four stars, but once the crowds show up, it drops to two.

Meadowview Course Review 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 30, 2013 Played the course:once

Pros:

Its a beautiful scene and has nice groomed grass. Its fun to play as something different from time to time.

Cons:

The throwing lanes are really tight, and the grass in the "rough" is long and can eat discs up really easily. Be prepared to look for your disc on almost every hole.

Other Thoughts:

Its intentions to add another 9 to the regular course is awesome, but it also makes the game a lot longer and your arm a lot more sore. It is a cool addition, though.

Meadowview 9 hole 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 19, 2013 Played the course:once

Pros:

This course can be played by itself or as the whole 27 hole loop when you start on Apple Creek. If you start on Apple Creek you can jump onto this course after hole 11. You'll be able to play this then jump back on Apple Creek and finish that course. There's concrete tees on every hole here too. These tees are all in real good shape and all level and grip well. The baskets are Mach 3's with the number plates on top just like Apple Creek. These also are all in good shape and catch fine. There's a good amount of distance here. The shortest hole 196 feet on hole 4 up to 396 feet on hole 7. They call this Meadowview because a few of the holes play through a prairie/meadow area. A number of different shots are required here too. The tee signs are just like Apple Creek's. They have hole #, basic hole diagram, par and distance. The flow is pretty easy to follow, I was confused in a couple spots though it wasn't anything major. There's a little bit of elevation and quite a few trees on these 9 holes. there are trash cans throughout the course.

Cons:

Again, the hole diagrams on the tee signs are pretty much useless. They don't give you any idea of where the basket is. The rough can be pretty brutal on a number of the later holes. It's only open late spring to late fall. It'd be cool if it was open year round. Also there seems to be quite a bit of unused areas in the later part of this course. Maybe they'll eventually add another 9 holes.

Other Thoughts:

This along with Apple Creek make for a fun day of disc golf. I personally liked this course better than Apple Creek. I'd recommend checking this course out if you're in the area.

Concrete pads with benches and garbage.
Mach 3 baskets.
Well groomed.
Great to play as 9 or as 27.
Most people skip this set of holes leaving it usually empty.
Some holes provide a great secluded from the world feeling.

Cons:

Not open all year long. Late spring to late fall.
Some challenging holes for beginners.

Other Thoughts:

With so much potential park unused back behind hole 6/7 it's a shame it's not turned into an 18 hole course.

B+ = Bery Bery nice 9-holer! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 27, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

What I personally like and how this course stacks up in my list of 9 hole courses (over110 played):

1) Holes with good risk/reward. Fair, but harsh punishment for bad decisions or execution. == B
(Overall, this course does not have the kind of trouble in the fairways that will ever automatically turn your birdie run into a 4 if you miss your line. But the obstacles that are there in the way of trees in many fairways and very thick rough off many fairways make you want to throw accurately....or else (lose your disc or have no real lie). Not a whole lot of decision making other than a splitter tree or 2 on 2-3 fairways.)

2) Holes that have rewarding birdie opportunities for me. I'm a Blue level player (950ish skill) who throws 300' accurately, 360' max. == B+
(With only 2 short holes (<200') and one hole that is too long for me (400' up a slight hill), the other holes set up perfectly for my arm length to make things rewarding to card birdies. For whatever reason, I rarely see a 9-hole course set up well for one type of player - they are mostly a mish-mosh of holes that make for a boring round scoring-wise for everyone. Not here!)

3) More wooded than open - lots of variety of shots required caused by hole shape and topography == B+
(No major terrain and just one major curve (R-to-L) on an early hole, but there is really good variety of hole shapes and hole types. Actually it is quite impressive what the design accomplishes with just 9 holes.)

4) Natural beauty (Appalachian beauty preferred) and seclusion. == B
(Lots of brush and prairie grass make the middle holes feel a little scruffy, but unlike the 18 hole course (which we branched off of when playing with TallPaul) that is a beautifully manicured town park, this course feels very secluded and nature-ish.)

5) Bonus points for multi-throw holes with defined landing zones, good risk/reward and multiple options to play them. == NA (0 bonus points for this)

Other Thoughts:

This is a scenario where the fact that I keep 2 ratings lists (one for courses with less than 18 and another one for 18 or more hole courses) does not "show" well. I have rated the 18 hole Plamann a B+ because that that is what it is: very good....but not in the excellent category. I feel the same way about how this course stacks up against other 9-holers.

Plamann alternate 9 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 29, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

-A nice mix of holes surrounded by thick rough
-Picks up at Plamann hole #12
-Benches
-Cement teepads
-Signs
-Trash recepticles at most holes
-Good basket placements force risk reward situations, most on this 9 are tucked into the shule or around sharp corners making them trickey to get to.
-Nice elevation changes and a mix of shots, short/long/left/right etc...
-Nice maintained fairways

Cons:

-Thick rough
-Play with Plamanns other 18 hole course

Other Thoughts:

This is 9 holes that can be played separately or as an add-on to the 18-hole Apple Creek course at Plamann Park (1st tee pad is around hole #12). Many of the holes are similar in nature to the Apple Creek course, a bit hilly with mature trees scattered throughout a wide-open mowed grassy area but there are a few holes in the middle of the round that are cut through some tall grassey medows and pine trees. These holes are easy enough to play except that there is a chance to lose a disc in the tall grass due to the very narrow mowed trails through the grass on some fairways. Keep your discs on the fairway and you will be fine. None of the holes are overwhelmingly long.

Meadowview 9 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 30, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

- A prairie style 9 holer that can be played by itself, or as a means to stretch Plamann's Apple Creek 18 to 27 holes. Located after Apple Creek's 12th hole, it loops around and leaves you ready to jump back onto Apple Creek's 13th tee.
- A decent mix of holes, with a slightly different vibe from the park-style atmosphere of Apple Creek. Meadowview has fairly thick and punishing schule in the summer months that can easily eat a disc. Outside of the summer months, a lot of the punishing aspect of the schule disappears, although there is definitely some risk and reward based on trying for the "glory" shot or just staying out of the brush.
- Good solid concrete tees. Benches, signs, and trashcans at each hole.

Cons:

- One or two of the baskets have chains that have slipped off the center ring.
- The signage suffers the same ambiguity that Apple Creek's does. They're nice looking and all, but impossible to distinguish from one another other than the the hole number and distance.

Other Thoughts:

- I assume that this was put in at a different time than Apple Creek's 18 holes. Otherwise I would think that they'd have just made one 27 hole course. Apple Creek and Meadowview compliment each other nicely, and my rating above takes into account Meadowview only. If both courses were rated as one, I would rate them significantly higher (in the 4-disc range.)

Quck 9 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 5, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

The course plays around the upper part of the park with half the holes similar to most of the Apple Creek course and a few holes that play through a more meadow/prairie area with tall grass rough and scattered shrubs and trees. It has some minor elevation changes that add to the variety of the course, and it calls for a decent variety of shots. There are some different lengths here that call for shorter shots and one or two longer drives.

There are nice concrete pads for all the tees, and decent signs with hole length and number. The baskets are in good shape and catch well. It's easy to follow the course with no navigation issues between holes, and it's really easy to play all 27 holes in the park starting at the beginning of either course.

Cons:

This course just feels like added on holes to the Apple Creek course, and it seems a little silly to call it a separate course, especially when only a few of the holes really have the meadow feel to differentiate it from the park style holes of the main course. Though there are some nice shots here and it definitely adds to the overall variety of the full 27 hole loop, there's not enough variety or challenge to make this a very interesting course all on it's own.

The meadow style holes are an interesting change up, but long grass rough is not at all my favorite as it doesn't punish errant shots with strokes, just with time and possibly lost plastic. A couple of the meadow holes are mowed very narrowly, making it difficult to stay on the fairway even with a pretty good shot which gets a little frustrating. The tee signs don't have any hole layout and there are a couple blind holes so you have t do some extra walking your first time through.

Other Thoughts:

There are some nice holes on this 9, and it's definitely worth playing as part of the full 27 hole loop here in the park. As a course all on it's own, it's not bad but it's nothing exceptional. Beginners will find most of the holes reasonable, though they will struggle to not lose discs on the meadow holes. More experienced players will find a couple tough holes, but not enough variety to be worth playing except as an optional loop on the 18 hole course.

Don't Throw Your Favorite Disc... 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 29, 2010 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Good challenge in terms of requiring accurate distance. Success on holes 3 and 4 hinges on throwing a right-to-left drive. Good variety of holes for only being a 9 hole diversion. Grass in the fairways is always neatly cut. Concrete tee pads, signs, and benches for every hole. Roughly half of the holes are flexible in terms of alternate workable routes available for your drive. It's as cleanly maintained as its neighbor Apple Creek and should be experienced.

Cons:

Thickly wooded holes are brutally punishing for missed drives. Keep a very close eye and have someone spot your drives, because it's possible to be standing directly over a disc in the rough and not see it. This portion of Plamann is always more thinly populated than Apple Creek, due to punishing rough. I also suspect that the casual Plamann golfers just aren't up for an extra nine holes. With a little thinning out of the rough, this nine could be on par with the rest of Plamann.

Other Thoughts:

Play Apple Creek up to hole 11, then jump to hole 2 of Meadowview. Finish with Meads hole 1, then continue to hole 12 of Apple Creek. It would be nice if the extra 9 holes were placed at the end of the round, rather than inserted into the back nine of Apple Creek.

The lesser maintained of the Plamanns 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 8, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

1) Nice concrete tee pads add to the playability of this course.

2) Again nice looking tee signs with distances listed.

3) Benches on every tee and garbage cans are plentiful to help provide a very clean park.

4) Overall this 9 hole course has some challenges. Mostly the challenege comes on the middle holes. The first two and last two are not very difficult and can easily be parred or dueced. The others have more diffuclt shots to execute and because the maintenance is not where they mow everything in site on these holes, you can end up with some tough lies. Good and bad (good because it adds some challenge, but bad because it makes the appearance not as attractive. I am not saying they need to maintain everything, but that could selectively get rid of the thorny and invasive plant species in the meadow area.

5) For the most part this 9 holes could be considered beginner friendly with only one hole over 300' and a couple under 200'. There will be some challenge and you will have to still execute the shot, but you can generally recover from one bad shot.

6) Slight to moderate elevation change on a few of the holes is an added benefit, just like it is on the Apple Creek 18.

Cons:

1) Truly only 5 of the holes are set in the Meadowview part of the park. 1, 2, 8, 9 are set in a similar property to the Apple Creek course where there are just large mature trees that you need to avoid in more open feeling park setting with maintained turf on the entire hole. The other true meadowview holes either run through the meadow, along the meadow, into the meadow, or out of the meadow.

2) Maintenance of the meadow areas is a little lacking. As I have said I dont mind that they don't want to mow the entire area in fact I like that there is a prairie feel out on some of these holes, but there is invasive species and some thorny plants, that if those were removed selectively these holes would look and play much better.

3) There is a little bit of compaction ocurring in a few spots where people walk in the same place. This ocurrs when the grass isn't mowed and is bound to only get worse over time. It isn't reason to mow wall to wall, but those areas could have multiple paths so that gives the people options to walk in mowed turf instead in just one 5'-10' wide area.

4) Signs although helpful with the distance, do not have any sort of diagram of the hole. This may be intentional because the holes are stll changing, but in the end if you are gonna buy these expensive signs you might as well put a general layout of the hole on there, adding or moving baskets on these signs is always possible.

Other Thoughts:

It is sortof hard for me to differentiate between the courses because I played them for the first time and went from hole #11 on Apple Creek to Meadowview and then back to Apple Creek, so they kindof all fit together. I think this course had some good holes but it also had a few holes with not enough maintenance done (or true fairways). There was a little more underbrush, most of it wasn't buckthorn it was more Red Twigged dogwood, some prairie grasses, a few volunteer trees sprouting up, but there were a few areas with some thorny type plants too. I would like to see these issues better maintained to provide with a much more consistant feel between courses. It does feel like a seprate course and maybe that is intentional by the designer to provide 9 holes that feel very different than the original 18. However, only half of the holes in my opinion are truly "Meadowview" holes. #1, 2, 8, 9 are still much similar to the Apple Creek hole design than they are to the other 5 holes on Meadowview. This isn't a huge deal, but if they are to create 2 different courses, I would like to see consistancy between the courses or complete differentiation. It does not bring the disc rating down in my opinion because it is simply a design flaw (one that doesnt affect playability, but it does effect the overall appearance).

I wanted to give this a higher grade but I just cannot. I think the maintenance will improve over time and some issues on this course can be resolved making it a much better course. I will edit my review when I see that this has happened, but until then it remains a 3. I do think it has the potential to move up to 3.5 but the property doesn't lend itself to anything higher than that probably.

Play this course! 2+ years drive by

Pros:

Amenities like the Apple Creek 18. (See my review) Meadowview adds tight technical holes to the more open Apple Creek 18. This added difficulty makes the posted pars close to correct!

Cons:

Thick shule makes it easy to lose discs. Most of my critisms of the Apple Creek 18 apply here. Signage, crowding, and basket visibility all could be improved. Hole lengths and pars are somewhat better, but would benefit from a reassessment.

Other Thoughts:

This course will benefit from more play, and it complements the other 18.

Plamann Greatest Hits 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 13, 2009 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Like the 18, this course has all nice (new) concrete pads, good baskets and ornate signs with hole distance and par in addition to a hole map.

This course plays on a rolling hills in a mix of prairie, woods, and field with scattered mature trees.

The locals told me beforehand that this 9 was harder than the 18 holes on the main course. Yeah right, I thought. Turns out, they were telling the truth.

This is like a souped up version of the old 18. The tree routes are tighter, and fairways a bit narrower, and the hyzers more extreme. At least half the baskets on this bunch at blind off the tee, usually around a sharp curve uphill or downhill.

The first few holes of this course weave through the scattered trees of the more open area, for a variety of lines and canopy shots, but its once you venture into the woods/prairie area that this course kicks it up a notch. The rough is long grass, with several strategically placed trees to constrict your lines and make shot placement important, if you want to land on the mowed fairways.

The course throws some interesting challenges at you in here. On one hole, you are constricted off the tee by two bushy pine trees, which you are forced to throw between before emerging into the fairway, which winds and curves over a hill. It makes it awkward to drive, since you have to bend it just to get one towards the basket.

Another hole has two trees framing the sides of the fairway, followed by a a large wide tree what occupies the center of the fairway, creating a chokepoint, beyond which the basket is on a downhill slope for a tricky putt.

This 9-hole loop is more interesting, and more difficult than the 18 hole it sits next to, because it throws a few more tricks at you, and is less forgiving. This course is (3.25), Better than Good, almost Very Good.

Cons:

Unfortunately, this course also shares some of the same glaring flaws as its more mature big brother, specifically the ridiculous hole maps. They look cool, but do a terrible job telling you the hole layout. Unfortunately, in this case, with less open obvious shots than the 18, good hole maps are even more important, and this shortcoming is that much more annoying.

But thats a dead horse. Though this course offers 3 very good holes, the rest are just solid. Comparing it to other 9 holers I've rated higher, it doesnt stack up, so I can't quite call it very good, but this course isnt quite Very Good.

Other Thoughts:

You can play this course with the 18 holes for a loop of 27 very easily. After hole 12, you will see the tee for hole 2 of this 9 on the right. start there, and just play hole 1 after 9. It'll spit you right back next to Tee 13 to resume the main course.

On the holes with long grass, its a good idea to have a spotter, as discs can get lost in the long stuff.

Pros:

The Meadowview 9 is nice addition to the regular 18; they're great for those looking for a little extra challenge. The fairways are quite narrow, and require good accuracy if you don't want to end up in thick rough.

Cons:

The first and last bits of the course are rather open and have little elevation change. The thick rough along the fairways is notorious for eating discs.

Other Thoughts:

Overall, this is a good course if you're looking for a decent challenge, or if you want to work on your accuracy.

just as nice as original 18 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Oct 11, 2008 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

A beautiful continuation of original 18. As other reviewers have expressed, the rough isrougher here than on the original. This keeps the number of players down. Plaman can be a very crowded course. However, when the main course is full to bursting, you can usually come here and play with a little breathing room.
Hole #8 (usually played as #7;as you begin on #2 if coming from original layout); is type of hole not often seen anymore....I don't know why? Requires a @280 ft. tall ess or a roller to reach. #9 is a wide anheiser (rhbh), that while not long; is fairly tough wide swing for rhbh; or a good shot to work on forehand (for rhbh).

Cons:

Keep a good eye on your plastic. Fairly narrow mowed fairways with tall grass, bushes, and trees on both sides.

Other Thoughts:

Benches and trash cans are plentiful as in the rest of the park.
From original course....after playing #11, walk to #12 tee; and just to left of it, will be tee for #2, Meadowview course. Begin here, to play full 27 hole course....finishing on what is labeled #1. This is due to the fact that you can park at the back lot to play Meadowview only. Follow park road around park, and park by big pavilion after coming up the big hill; if you want to only play Meadowview; or begin play here.
