Good Practice course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 18, 2019 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Practice Basket by parking lot, some precision shots needed, Nicely mowed grass. Some good roller practice, wooded to open and open to wooded shots. Good use of trees to guard baskets. Creek for added excitement. Wind is a factor on this course.

Cons:

Tee pads are basically same shot for back nine just different distances. and some pads are used twice. Some #&%$ tore down the signs on a lot of the tee pads. Random people walk through the woods sometimes so stay sharp. Houses next to the course. Some muddy areas. Hole four you have to walk the fairway back pass the tee pad to get to five. Also on four stay away from the right side so you won't throw over the fence hidden in the trees

Other Thoughts:

I think I will play this course Many times it the future just because of the convenience of practicing different shots. Take a picture of the course sign by the parking lot so you can reference it out on the course to find the next hole. follow the park road all the way to the end to the last parking lot.

Fun Course for New & Experienced Players 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 20, 2019 Played the course:once

Pros:

Variety of distances
Good mix of technical and open shots
Concrete tee pads
Good dual-usage of baskets on front/back 9
Good map sign at hole 1 makes up for missing tee signs
Grass very well mowed

Cons:

Missing some tee-signs
Some of the woody tee pads are a bit overgrown
Some really long par 3's for my arm

Other Thoughts:

Nice course to play with new and experienced players alike. Back 9 uses different tee pads well to give you different feeling holes. Some are similar, but some are quite a bit different. Take a picture of the map at hole 1 -- you'll need it to figure out which tee pad is which when the signs are missing.

I Could Really Put A Hurt On The Vandals Who Tore Off The Signs! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 11, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

Airpark Park is a nice sized park near the airfield (hence the name, huh?). The disc golf course is way in the back of the park and butts up against a series of duplexes which might explain all the missing signs. The course starts near the parking lot. There is a course map here. The course has decent concrete tee signage and Discatchers with the numbers 1-9. The signs have the washer system for A and B basket positions but there were no washers. An important thing to remember here is there are nine baskets and 18 tee pads. With so many tee signs ripped off, navigation was much more confusing than it should be. Another matter of confusion for me was my on-line map only shows a 9 hole course. The really big problem is I'm easily confused.

A heavily wooded creek area splits the course in half. Many holes play either into this wooded area or cross the creek. #'s 1 and 2 play on the near side then 3-6 play on the other side. 7 and 8 are also on the far side.

There are some fun downhill throws to be made here, some throwing into those baskets perched in the woods.

Cons:

So many missing signs.

Windy.

No washers to show basket positions.

9 baskets and 18 tee pads can be confusing.

The area in the woods was kinda of grungy feel to it.

Other Thoughts:

Someone did a nice job signing this course and then to see them tore off. It's a shame. I've played some courses on this trip with great navigational aids (Harmony Bends) and others with little to no help. As a traveling player, i want to get in, play the course quickly and get moving to my next course so I appreciate any help navigating a course. It just pisses me off when punks have vandalized the course like they have here. Those duplex's in the rear look like the kind of housing where disc golf course, vandalizing, dirt bags would reside!

Local Player 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 25, 2017 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

18 concrete tee pads. Good baskets, though only 9 at this time. Many open shots but walking paths come in to play as OB's. Good beginner course and not play the paths OB in a casual round.
Good place to practice playing in the wind when the wind IS blowing, as there are not too many trees except along the creek to block the wind.
The club has worked on getting some thick brushy areas cleaned out.

Cons:

Many of the tee signs are gone or broke because of vandalism so it's getting harder to follow the course if you are new to the course. After a rain it gets very sloppy and muddy.
One of the bridges across the creek is broke and makes crossing the creek rough, especially if pulling a cart.
Very little elevation.

Other Thoughts:

The club has gone through some changes but are getting things back on track now. They are working on getting approval for another 9 holes to make this course 18 baskets. That will improve this part of the course as it will then have pro and Am pads.
I'm not sure why the city does not fix the bridge as it may cause injury. When it rains hard the creek goes over banks, that is why the bridge is broke. Having followed the creek, there is no where for it to drain.
If you are new to course, the holes alternate between long shot, short shot. For example, hole 2 plays off of the longer shot pad, hole 3 plays off of shorter shot pad, hole 4 plays off of longer shot pad, etc, to hole 10, which shoots up to basket 1, then hole 11 shoots to basket 2 from closer pad.
Room for improvement on this course and hopefully will happen with club changes.

Open but Overlapping 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 12, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

Concrete Tee Pads
Multiple Basket Placement
New Baskets
Great Signs
Good use of OB and Mandos

Cons:

The course doubles back on itself

Other Thoughts:

This is a nice course in an area with not too many close courses, but it should probably just be a 9 hole instead of 18. Since there are only 9 baskets there is an opportunity that if there's more people on the course people could be throwing at the same basket.

However if you like decent distant with a few technical holes this is a good course. There is a good use of Mandos and using the path as OB forces you to be more accurate then you would otherwise have to.

Cons:

can get a little swampy through the winter, but most courses do.

Really excited to see the improvement of this course of the next couple years.

A Quick and Fun Challenge 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 19, 2011 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Good tee signs and I found it easy to navigate the course.

- It's been very dry in the area for the last month, so the creek was dried up.

-Nice Innova Discatchers all in great shape. Elevated pin on #4.

-It was 95+ degrees out when I played but playing 3 or more rounds of 9 holes would be easy in a little cooler weather.

Cons:

-Dirt tee pads. Since the holes didn't play very long, this wasn't a huge bother.

-If your staying anywhere around the Lake of the Ozarks, this is pretty much your only option outside of driving 90 or more minutes.

Other Thoughts:

I take a week vacation to the Lake of the Ozarks area every year and I will plan to play this course each time.

The Ozarks are such a beautiful part of the country, I wish there was more courses around. This course, however, was a plesant surprise.

Pros:

1. a dg course in middle MO.
2. Nice baskets with yellow rims.

This course was a surprise to find. The park is nice. Each hole marked with a sign most with multiple pin selections. They are hand made at this point but do the trick. There is a few shots that contend with a water hazard. Has a good tunnel shot.

Cons:

The drainage wasn't the greatest but it has rained a bunch the day before. Need cement tees and i dont think i saw any trash cans.

Other Thoughts:

If you at the lake of the ozarks and going back west hit this up on the way through and knock it off the list.

Cons:

Basket 3 a little hard to find. (its on a ridge in the trees). On the back side of the course the is a row of apartment housing. could be marked a little better.

Other Thoughts:

Will play it again when I come thru that area!

Nice tight course in small village park 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 22, 2010 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

A pleasant suprise to find a dg course in the middle of nowhere. Short tees provide a very nice course for the beginner. All tees have a nice sign detailing pin location. Pins are all nice big Yellow Innova baskets...Can't miss 'em. 3 is a nice hard tunnel drive 100 feet to a 90 degree dog-leg right. 4's pin up in the tree is an excellent touch. 6 has a 45 degree dog-leg right, that if you try to take it too early gets you into some brush that'll add two strokes. 8 plays 250 feet to a creek crossing up to the tree speckled green. 9 plays left to right up a slight incline and tucked into a huge goalie of a tree.

Cons:

Hard to find long tees.

Hard to find 7 & 8 after 6. Hint, go to through the creepy/muddy wooded path to the right of 6's pin, walking about 10 feet off the creek. You'll see 7 after you poke back out into that big field where 5 was.

Holes 1, 5, 7 are just wide open fields without much interest and very hot in the direct sun w/out shade.

The creek crossing for hole 6 requires finagling yourself from a muddy creek bank onto some pallets. An excellent scout project would be to fashion a permanent bridge over this path.

Lots of trash back in the woods between 6 and 7, probably from local kids hanging out.

Other Thoughts:

After playing this course a second time after being told by some locals where to find 7&8, I think 8 is one of my favorite holes on this course. Some arrows on the top of the baskets to point to the next tee would be a great addition to this course for new visitors.

Perfectly playable park, and I gather they've been doing some development as the tees are now well marked with nice signage.

Baskets in great shape and hole signs readable. I've only played four DG courses and this is my favorite so far. I enjoyed the holes that were located in or behind the trees as it provide a little more difficult shots.

Cons:

Some of the holes were hard to find. Holes 7 and 8 especially. A walking path zig zags through the course and a ballfield is nearby. Only 9 holes.

Other Thoughts:

This is one of the closest courses to my house at this time. I'll play this one over and over again. I really enjoyed the layout and the course.

Vacation in Ozarks 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 22, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

Good use of small area of land. For a 9 hole course this was decent play through the strip of wooded area and open area. Easy to find.

Cons:

Long tees need to be marked out better and direction from hole to hole could be addressed differently. Plays near ball diamonds which I can imagine gets busy during games.

Other Thoughts:

For a 9 hole course this actually impressed me. I've played plenty of 9 holers in my day and this one was the best lain out i've played before. I wish this would have been 12-18 since it's the only course I played while in the Ozarks but like said above DG is better than no DG.

It is a good challenging course but can be played by everyone. It was enjoyable for the whole family. I found all the tee's easily.

Cons:

There were people just walking around because it is a park by a residential area. So there are a lot of people always taking their kids to the park and just taking a walk around the park.

Other Thoughts:

I really enjoyed the park. I have played a few other parks including all the parks in springfield and the one at Southwest Baptist University and i would say that this one will be one i wouldn't mind playing over and over again.

Tee signs are up 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 23, 2008 Played the course:once

Pros:

They have put up good tee signs with a hole map on each sign and they point you to the next tee. The alternate tees for back nine were freshly painted and not too hard to find. For a beginner like myself the course had some good challenging shots that led to a few double bogeys and bogeys and why keep counting this is horrible.

Cons:

Course is close to a baseball field that could get crowded at times. A few holes play a little uncomfortabley close to private residences. I had to walk in someones yard to retreive a bad throw.

Other Thoughts:

I wouldn't travel far to play here but if you are close it is worth checking out.

Not worth seeking out 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jun 10, 2008 Played the course:once

Pros:

Rural city opportunity to play DG

Cons:

VERY poorly marked tees
Literally couldn't find holes 7 or 8
Would be tough to play if park were crowded

Other Thoughts:

This course is not worth seeking out, but I guess some Disc Golf is better than no DG if you live there...someone should do something about identifying the tees

I HATE dogging courses...I think anyone that tries to put in a course should be encouraged...

If the people who voted thumbs down on my take on this course are locals there...then please rally the troops in the area and repair your course and then write a new review so people will know that it is worth venturing off the beaten path to play...

If you have given a thumbs down because it is a sparse review...I understand that, there just wasn't much to "review" IMHO
