Nice rebuild!! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 29, 2019 Played the course:once

Pros:

Lack of photos and a map do not do justice to this very nice park course. Course is set among beautiful oak trees with some hills. First 5 holes are longer holes in park with very large oaks to shoot around.Last 4 holes are near a stream you shoot across and near. Concrete tees great signage and Mach x baskets

Cons:

Stinging nettle reward for poor shots near creek Play is near road to Shells Brewery

Other Thoughts:

Passed thru town very happy I gave it a try!! Big improvement since rebuild???

Way better with the new redesign 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 22, 2018 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

• Good Signage and tees
• Mach X Baskets
• Mix of longer bomb holes, and shorter technical holes

Cons:

• Course finishes other side of the park which requires a walk back to the start
• The holes that play near the creek have some stinging nettle you could easily find yourself in and potential for lost disc in the weeds

Other Thoughts:

I'm not sure when they redesigned the course it's been about 5 years since I graduated from Mankato and left the area but previous course was 5-6 baskets in a small triangle of land. I believe it was basket to basket and safari since there was no numbers. But now it's a legit 9 hole with pads, signs and Mach X baskets.

The original triangle that held 5-6 baskets is only 4 holes now, they are longer bomber holes but there are some large trees to make it interesting, then you go across the road to play the rest of the course that plays over and around the creek, these holes are shorter than the first 4 but still require midrange or fairway. One hole plays along the side of the hill towards the creek which requires a touch putter shot that's really fun, and the finishing hole is a fun shot towards the creek where you have the option to go up the gut or throw a hyzer around the trees and crash the basket.

Compared to the other course in New Ulm (Nehls) I think this is the superior course with its variety and nicer baskets.

Good layout, could use some updates 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 18, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Nice homemade baskets, catch well even though they look interesting.
-Decent elevation, trees
-Tee posts with hole number
-Good distance for most holes, all reachable with a good drive. Only 5 takes a real long drive to reach.
-A few holes with somewhat fast greens
-Easy to find with lots of parking

Cons:

-Layout is somewhat hard to follow the first time
-No signage, distance, par. etc
-No tees
-A few holes are too close to playground, had to wait a little for some kids who were in the way

Other Thoughts:

This course has a good fun factor. Each hole is different and presents a different challenge. Not too complex and is good for a relaxing, casual round.

Pretty basic 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 28, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

Easy layout, well marked, tall posts mark each tee, and the homemade baskets are clearly marked.

Cons:

grass tee boxes. Short, feeds in on itself a bit, if it was busy that could be a problem. Not clear how to get from hole 6 to 7-9, had I not read the previous reviews I'd have been lost. Tight quarters, would be possible to get beaned. No real difficulty. The course is very wide opne, some mature trees, but a few of the holes are just throwing in a field.

Other Thoughts:

Shells Brewery is just up the road. Homemade baskets are OK, I've seen worse. Not a bad course, just nothing really special. Good small town course.

Hole-in-the-wall course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 7, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

Very beginner-friendly, well maintained. Homemade baskets not ideal but are sufficient. Decent shot variety (watch out on #7!) Easy to find parking and hole 1. Hole 5 is long, hope for a good drive!

Cons:

No distance/par markings. 7-9 on other side of ravine, but noticeable on the right if you drive in across the ravine's bridge.

Other Thoughts:

According to a local group playing ahead of us, they take out the basket (and post for hole #3?) for hole #2 so when sledding is in season, children don't run into the basket (valid reason). No indication of the basket was confusing, but didn't make the course less enjoyable. If post for #3 is gone, play it from the top of the hill... very fun to see the drives sail.

Pros:

* Well maintained course
* League play available
* Easy little course to play

Cons:

* No maps or direction to the next pin
* Needs better baskets
* Hole 7 - 9 are hidden behind the river

Other Thoughts:

This course is not as well maintained as Nehl's. Play this course only if Nehl's is packed

Kinda fun 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:May 30, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

Nice little 9 hole course with well maintained fairways and homemade baskets. 1-6 play on the side and bottom of a hill. 7-9 play on the other side of a waterway near a treeline. Most holes are of pretty good length, around 230-330 feet I'd say. I would normally call this a chip and putt course but some holes are a little longer than that.
Since the early holes play on the side of the hill, the main puzzles the course presents are hill issues and wind. Trees are obstacles in only a few cases.
A pretty reasonable beginners course and a good place to get kids introduced to the game.

Cons:

Tee signs just give hole numbers and there are no teepads, just grass/dirt. Could use the trees available a little better. For a little course on a small plot of land I actually don't have many cons.

Other Thoughts:

There is actually a little parking area pretty near hole 1. After hole 6 go east along the street to find hole 7. After your round there a brewery nearby that gives tours!
